Interesting video my friend. Didn't know there were opal geodes in that area. Glad to see the desert starting to bloom. Thanks for sharing your opal adventure with the community, we appreciate the knowledge.😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
Howdy Chuck, yes sir the desert is blooming big time. There was a lot of geological events in the lake pleasant area, opal geodes just happens to be one of them. Pretty sure that Castle Hot Springs is cooking because of some geo-thermal action is still going on deep below the Earth's crust. Thanks for watching.
Interesting Video Paul coming from someone who’s knows what he’s looking for and turns a “Rock” into something so beautiful
Howdy Richard, thanks for the kind werds. Rocks can be really neat when properly cared for 😁
Maybe should check out the water level area at Scorpion Lake. Amazing sizes pieces..🪨☄️😲
Very cool video ! Would you give me atleast a vicinity of the area it looks so cool and I would love to check it out for cool rocks
Those are some super cool eggs for Easter! I dont think any of the ones you called duds, were duds. They just didnt have the typical inside star of agate or opal. They were still nice eggs! Great time, and looked like a blast
Hi Paul😊 Happy Easter weekend to you💜🌼💙🌸💚 I love the desert flowers you showed in this video🌺 So that's only the second scorpion you have come across in the Arizona desert? Wow. I can't even count how many I e found rockhounding here. Beautiful opals you found. I love how your geodes looked inside after you cut them, real pretty. The Lake Pleasant area I'm not familiar with but looks like a good place to rockhound👍 Thanks for another fantastic video Paul and have yourse
Hi Lisa! Yup only my second scorpion, but I am not here during the hot months, so maybe that is why I don't see too many. I did see my third here in camp yesterday moving a water tub in my tent. That Lake pleasant area sure is pretty, lot's of rocks up there and that crick was loaded with black material, prolly some gold there. Have a great Easter weekend!
Your channel is is really cool 😎 I live in Peoria az .
Very cool it is amazing to be able to just walk around and find stuff like that just out in the open and again your knowledge on minerals and rocks is amazing
Howdy Brian my friend, it is fun finding all these different rocks in good ol AZ. Funny how there isn't any thing cool in the wash that I gold mine in, but you git 10 miles from here and different stuff starts to show up. Thank you for watching!
That was a pretty good adventure. Nice to find the source of the geodes. I always try to image what it was like when the rocks were forming. Thanks for sharing. Oh ya, like to see all the flowers and plants too. The dessert is a very efficient environment. Those plants growing out of the granite rocks are actually taking a bit of mineral as a nutrient as they grow in it.
I love rocks and plants, so this would be heaven!
I just got into stones, was at a stone shop- looking at the prices- then I thought to myself… wait- I live in the desert, girl get ur butt outside and start looking! I’ve been to Auga frea areafou d some cool things and white tanks not so much.. I’m heading to pleasant tomorrow!!! Wow incredible finds!!! All soooo amazingly beautiful!! I adore your best agate!!! Even the bad ones adoreeee!
I found some beautiful botryoidal chalcedony’s there if you ever want to go again haha. Was digging in the mud for two hours haha
You make it look easy which I know it's not. That petrified wood is very colorful can't wait to see it polished up.
Howdy Empty Wallet, I agree that pet wood will be really nice when I finish it. Thank you for watching.

Just subscribed, your knowledge about rocks and minerals is incredible.
Orange flowers are globemallow
Love your videos! Those were some pretty cool opals!
Howdy Terry! Glad you liked the video, lot's of dud geodes for two good ones, but it was a fun day. Thank you so much for watching👍

Flowers must look so much more beautifull in the desert. What an awesome area. What if you bring your blasting kit up there, there are plenty of natural holes already there to load. It may just dislodge a bunch of 'em out of there?
You got some really nice pieces. The water lines are cool and that petrified piece is AMAZING.
Howdy Wally my friend! You are very observant, competition out in the desert is fierce, so flowers have too be more vibrant, camo has to be the best in nature, everything is just the best of the best here. Maybe we blast out there next season 😂
Lale pleasant is only 40 min away from me and would love to find some for my wife. Opal is her birthstone. Any pointers on where to find some.
Hi I was wondering where exactly are those opal thunder eggs. I have been going out there for over 20 years & never found those.
Hi Paul!! I love Opals mostly and opals 2nd! Oops edited to say agates 2nd 😂🤣 This looks like the dream life!! I live in ABQ, NM and travel to Eloy, AZ by car every few months. Wondering if you can send me some pictures of your opal stuff and if you sell any of it? Would love to live this lifestyle some day and stay in this area. I had no idea until very recently how many cool rocks we have around this part of the states 😱 awesome videos thanks for sharing!
Hi Shanda, I like your comment. I don't have my rocks with me I am up in Alaska right now. I will be heading back to Arizona in the fall and I will try to get a hold of you then. You are welcome to go out and get your own Opal geodes with us, it is very near Lake Pleasant AZ. There will be a few folks from the Stanton gold camp that will want to go to this place and they are all older and very friendly. See ya in the next video.
@@prospectorpaul1 Hey Paul, I just found your reply to Shandra. I am going to Arizona City from Dec till March. I would love to look for anykind of rocks.Woould you be able to include me on your next trio?
Mind sharing the location? Was thinking of trying it out this weekend. I love opal.
Yes, location?
@@celesteg-g2684 Just go to Lake Pleasant area. You will see the types of mountains/hills of Rhyolite sticking up as you go up Castle Hot Springs Rd. Just park on any large roadside dirt area and head towards the mountain that does not look like all the others. The less convenient it is.... the better chances you will find what others have not. Be sure to look for the iconic bubbly formations (botryoidal rock) and you will surely be on your way to finding agate/chalcedony and thunder eggs. Went this past week and found a few fun finds. No geodes, but plenty of chalcedony roses and great learning experiences.
Loved the video, as always. You're still my favorite 'rock star'. Any chance you can slap some makeup on for the next episode? I had to laugh when that lady was instructing you to start hammering on the rock...it reminded me of when Runge gave you tasks to do. Oh, one last nugget, I was doing an observation during this episode and PPE use was a huge concern. No gloves when you came upon that amazing scorpion and lack of safety glasses when you were chipping the rocks and cutting them with the saw. Consequence? One small chip of stray rock flying into your eye and the dream crashes and burns. I don't want to sound like a buzz kill or a preacher, but as a proactive friend who cares, why take the chance? Don't ya just hate us safety guys? LOL It's only because we care! Thanks for sharing your adventure. When you find a polished rock in the shape of the KISS logo, save it for me...I'll buy it!
LMAO, when I was editing the video I kept thinking, OMG Tom is going to have a field day with this one. Even in the field i noticed my gloves were on the ground and not on my hands. Sad thing is I did bring safety glasses and I did not wear them while cutting, not sure why I did not take the time to get them. Most every unsafe behavior I did was because I was rushing. Thank you for pointing it out Tom, that takes courage and I appreciate it. I will keep looking for that KISS logo rock, it has to be here somewhere 🤣Thank you my friend!
Paul is there you can share the location of these geodes I live in Wickenburg thank you
When I come back out, I want to do this!!
You got it my friend, if you can sneak in a couple of extra days, I will give you the nickel tour for free 😁
@@prospectorpaul1 awesome! I’m planning to stay at the camp next time. More time with the campers.
Curious, where were you parked at? I'm always up there all around Lake Pleasant and didn't really recognize where it was you parked.
Paul is there anyway you can share the location thank you
Will you be at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show this year?
What kind of saw/blade and polisher do you have that is portable like that?
Any chance to get google maps location? Wanna take the kids out again, last time we went to geode hill in payson.....very disappointing clumps(geode).
Hi can you give me a general location to go look for cool rocks near lake pleasant ? I can’t find directions for rockhounding on google ? I would appreciate it
People asking for the location make me laugh, I knew of a location near Blyth in the 60’s, friend asked to go with me and gather thunder eggs. Against my better judgement he came, and yes I believe he must have run an add in the paper telling everyone that could read where the location was 🙄. Last time I went to the site somewhere in the middle 70’s it was covered with left behinds and not a single geode did I find.
Didn’t find out until 1998 the fellow owned a rock shop in South Dakota with family.
And some people would just love one or two pieces after a day’s hunt.
Is that state land or blm there is a crystal area north of there it is on state land. And i called them and they said I can't collect anything on state land Do you know anything about that. They said the fine is very high.
🤠😜😛🤓🧐👋🤙🦅
I guess the location of this is near that big saguaro cactus next to the dry wash with that big rock outcropping and lots of brush???
You nailed it! It is west of lake pleasant behind the gun club property. You will find material in the wash.
