After decades of not working on them it was great to see you taking off the rockers and torquing the heads. I’ve got some oil leaks in my 1600 and suspect that hasn’t been done in a while. It’s Good maintenance for the motor and a refresher for me. I still need a bunch of tools so I’m going slow. Enjoying all of your videos👍
Hey Jason. Just re watched this video and felt I had to reach out with a question it seems like no one can answer other than dropping the (not original) engine in my 1971 Super Beetle, which I think will have to happen. Fuel, air, spark and timing all good. Spark plugs look great, engine still won't start. Did compression check with calibrated gauge and we have cylinder#/compressions at 1/60, 2/0, 3/90, 4/30. Ugh! Thoughts?
So interesting to see your journey with this car! In the space of only two years you’ve gone from a stock power plant to a turbocharged fire breather!! Wow! The motor looks fairly new; what was the cause of the low compression? Normally this happens on either high mileage motors or cars with stuck valves and the like.
I'm new to your channel just sub today, what the history on your bug, was it a off the pan project you been working on for a few years. You do have a great skill set working on the vw; looks like you spent a lot of time around them.
No she was a rolling chassis I bought.... paint and body work had been done but car had changed hands a few times never to be finished. When I found her I had to buy her!! My dream car I've had a few bugs along the way but she is the first that is show quality.
John, excellent videos and mechanic skills. Can you recommend a paint shop in Houston? I would like to ask you some questions about VW. Please share email or cell. Thanks

Thank you for the comment... I love working on my car, I'd take a day in the garage over most anything.

That compression is toast, either valves aren't seating or the rings are gone.
@@JWClassicVW as I suspected. Time to drop her out and get her on the stand.

Oh brother, I'm going to have to rewatch that one... it was a bit ago.
