Thank you so much for this great. review! I visited the link for the Matador Nanodry and it lists the Dimensions as 52 x 24 inches and the weight as 5.6 ounces, considerably more than 2.4. I couldn't find the 2.4oz one, do you have any idea why? The PackTowl dimensions and weight were also different
@@abbyromm Hey Abby! The measurements I gave were my own, and may differ slightly from the brand. The Matador has a massive difference cos I didn't like the storage pouch, so I just left that at home. The weight is only of the towel itself. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough!

What is the difference between a backpacking towel and a camping towel. Some towels are similar in sizes and I think people, at the very least, I am more concerned about the size difference because I might not be going so hard on these towels if I just want a traveling or a backpacking towel. And in such case how does it feels really in personal user experience seems more ideal for me than hard specs. And curious to ask, there are some towels that are smaller in size, which are ideal for wiping sweat or face and hand towels because it looks kinda weird to put a beach towel on the face. And which in that case would be a better option, regarding some towels like pack towl face or hand size vs matador nano dry small. It also depends more on the convenience on using these towels when it comes to smaller ones. A good example that might be said in your videos is a smaller version of the matador towel which is the trek one (hope I don't mistake the name) which might not serve as the same use than the other towels in comparison. Back to myself, finding two towels for different usages, one for a face or sweat towel which is smaller in size and another full towel like the pack towl personal, which is happy to see the fully sized towel reviews but sad not any towels are in a smaller size for everyday use on your face or back. I'm guessing to get a pack towl personal for the shower towel as it seems more comfortable but struggling between matador and pack towl face for a smaller one 🤣.
Hi there Wilson, thanks for your question. And of course, you can ask any questions you want. Here are my replies: 1. I grouped these backpacking towels separately from the other camping towels that I tested, mainly because of weight and packed size differences. These backpacking towels weigh anywhere between 2.4oz/68g to 4.1oz/115g, whereas the camping towels in my other video went up to 17.2oz/488g (that's my Nomadix). I did it this way because I felt it would cater to different people. Of course, I know friends who do go backpacking with not the PackTowl UltraLite but the PackTowl Personal instead (6.5oz/185g), so that's ultimately up to you. 2. As for the size of the towels, I did some research prior and found that the body size of about 25 by 50 inches is usually the most popular size, so I tried to get as many of these towels in that size for a more accurate comparison between all the towels. Of course, some people like it smaller to cut weight, and some like it larger so that it covers their full body. For me, I really like this body size for showering. And I use bigger beach towels for swimming and going to the beach, and smaller towels (like the Trek towel) for hiking. If you're interested in the face towel review, I did a separate review on the Matador Trek Towel, but personally I prefer the Shower towel. Just using and testing all of these "body" sized towels took me many, many months, so testing "face" towels as well, filming, editing, etc. will take too much time, so I decided to skip out on that. Apologies for that, but thanks for letting me know :) 3. As for the personal user experience, I went through softness, thickness, stickiness, etc. under the Comfort section, so those aren't hard specs, just personal opinion. The PackTowl Personal for the shower towel is definitely a great pick! I'm still using mine currently, and it's still going strong :) If you prefer something softer and more absorbent, I'd go with the PackTowl for the face one as well. Hope this helps!

I'm living in South Asia and I'm a sweaty person, it gets terribly hot and humid in the summer so I think I need something on the street, not that camping and easy to take out and put back in. I think the matador case would be a very good choice to just clip it at some random spot under my backpack or just near my trousers. The amount of work you did on this video is just crazy. The brands should pay you for it! I am really glad you also tested the dirt repellancy, I've never seen anyone do that, but I have has loads of problems with some of the travel towels I've bought, to the point where they become useless after having them on the ground even just a few times. I love the fact that you included a 'control' specimen by comparing their performance to a standard cotton towel (it would have been useful to state the measurements of that towel, but I understand why you wouldn't). This is incredible research on something that is so overlooked. I bought Airlight beforehand and was disappointed by its absorbency. Having watched the video now...I wish I have gotten Matador! Thanks, and hope all new campers watch this.

I’m amazed by the level of detail you got into and it definitely satisfied my pretentious, OCD-like analysis that I undertake before buying anything. Saw that you’ve been recently posting about tents. It’d be wonderful if you’d want to get into reviewing other stuff as well and making such tops, like best umbrellas and rain jackets/pochos for hiking and commuting/daily use (just a trivial example of things that I’m looking into right now).

Btw, these backpacking towels are really lightweight and when I brought them to the beach, I was so scared that they were going to fly away hahaha. I'm not sure if I'd use these backpacking towels as beach towels. For beach use, I actually use my Nomadix towel, there's an individual review on my channel, and I also feature that towel in my 10 Best Camping Towels video. It dries a little more slowly than these backpacking towels, but it still dries 54% faster than a regular cotton towel. (Whereas a backpacking towels like the Matador NanoDry dries about 100% faster than a cotton towel.) I really like the Nomadix for beach use, but that's just personal preference, and please let me know if you need more info on anything, I'd love to help :)

Hi Liz. I found your video looking at the various towels on the market. I'm more into travel than camping but there's that crossover of gear for both. Really good and informative video, enough for me to go and browse the rest of your channel. You clearly put a lot of time and effort into your videos and it shows. One thought that I had might be to show more than tents and towels. Perhaps do videos on your bag and other equipment. They'd be well received! Ps. No need to be shy. Wow! This is amazing! I love the fact that you included a 'control' specimen by comparing their performance to a standard cotton towel (it would have been useful to state the measurements of that towel, but I understand why you wouldn't). This is incredible research on something that is so overlooked. I bought Airlight beforehand and was disappointed by its absorbency. Having watched the video now...I wish I have gotten Matador! Thanks, and hope all new campers watch this.

I’m amazed by the level of detail you got into and it definitely satisfied my pretentious, OCD-like analysis that I undertake before buying anything.
Saw that you’ve been recently posting about tents. It’d be wonderful if you’d want to get into reviewing other stuff as well and making such tops, like best umbrellas and rain jackets/pochos for hiking and commuting/daily use (just a trivial example of things that I’m looking into right now).

I'm not really a backpacker and am just trying to look for towel that is easy to dry when I go to the beach. Btw, these backpacking towels are really lightweight and when I brought them to the beach, I was so scared that they were going to fly away hahaha. I'm not sure if I'd use these backpacking towels as beach towels. For beach use, I actually use my Nomadix towel, there's an individual review on my channel, and I also feature that towel in my 10 Best Camping Towels video. It dries a little more slowly than these backpacking towels, but it still dries 54% faster than a regular cotton towel. (Whereas a backpacking towels like the Matador NanoDry dries about 100% faster than a cotton towel.) I really like the Nomadix for beach use, but that's just personal preference, and please let me know if you need more info on anything, I'd love to help :)

Hi Liz. I found your video looking at the various towels on the market. I'm more into travel than camping but there's that crossover of gear for both. Really good and informative video, enough for me to go and browse the rest of your channel. You clearly put a lot of time and effort into your videos and it shows. One thought that I had might be to show more than tents and towels. Perhaps do videos on your bag and other equipment. They'd be well received! Ps. No need to be shy.
