Love my little 1 pill modulator. That single 2879c sends out some serious smoke signals. I avoided the RM Italy amps for every reason you stated, Matt. Yes, I tend to cruise my equipment, but with the knowledge this is a scrappy unit that just loves to be pushed. Right now it is hooked up to a stock President Walker. Not a powerhouse radio at all. I talked this morning to the Mojave Desert, Southern California. Guy said I was hitting him so hard he was looking out his window to see if I was outside in a mobile. 🤷♂️ Want a 4 or 6 pill amp, but you only have a single final radio? No need to buy another radio. Stick this in between to drive a bigger amp. You cannot beat the power for penny ratio, guys. 73 😑🦗
Very cool. Little small for my setup. But it'd be decent for local traffic. It'd be cool too see it with a fan option on it. I'm in Southern Arizona. I run fans on everything including the radios
What radio was that a galaxy dx 86 v .. i use to run that same radio with a 4 pill texas star amp .. till i got my super mod general hp 40 .. getting 200 watts swing after lots of money and upgrades not any cutting or clipping but up grade in side radio
Pretty new to the amp thing so excuse the dumb question.... do you do any mods to your radio or can you hook this up to an out of the box radio? I have shopping around for one but I'm under the impression an out of the box radio is going to fry an amp.
@@TheRadioGarage lol if you say so... Come on man. You know better than that!.. If that 86V puts a clean signal into the amp (which they can, I have one here) then it is a very valid test. Any distortion you see will be primarily from the amp. It would be interesting and nice to see what drive levels work best on that amp. 73
I know better than what? You are saying that it doesn't matter what radio is used to test the amp , if it shows distortion it will just be because the amp? If someone was to take this amp and run a dirty radio with it it's going to look like crap no matter how well built the amp is. Appreciate you always watching the videos though 👍
@@TheRadioGarage hey, I like to watch your vids, I like that little amp too, but I would want to see how it looks on a scope. 230w of clean power would be outstanding. But is it 150w of clean power, and the rest is distortion? The scope can show us. That's what many of us want to know (ie, What drive level actually makes it happy). Many of us care about clean signals, and are not slaves to the almighty Dosy power meter swing. You have all the gear there and I'm sure you know exactly what I am talking about. (I understand that watts on the meter = sales, but I hope you can keep more integrity than 99% of the other shops we see on YT.) I say this constructively, and not to try and upset you. 73
I have already said many times that I don't care how many watts an amp does, I don't build them just test them so whatever they do on the meter is what they do and if someone is happy or not with it that's up to them to decide. I also like clean signals but I understand that people will run their equipment they way they want to. Also keep in mind that was 230w with voice not tone 😉..enjoy the DX!! I'm glad I was at least able to make you laugh , later 👋
@@TheRadioGarage does around the same power but a little more forgiving. I hit it with a 1watt carrier, 4-5 average, 15 PEPand get out a 25watt carrier. 50 average, 125 PEP. She can handle more I just run it easy. Even stays cool

Don't hit them folks in skipland too hard brother, you'll knock someone out 😆👊 I just love pushing the C's..gets me all giddy 🤩
@@TheRadioGarage If I took my meters out of line, I could roll up to 15.1 volts and smack them right back of head! 😎
Such a sweet little thing, with plenty of kick!!😂
Excellent analysis and breakdown of the driver comparison.

A fan definitely wouldn't hurt 😜
Just arrived today. Thank You!

Very nice clear and concise. Thanks RG your site the top my history.
Cool dude
👍🏻👍🏻
We would all love to see that on a scope...
Really no point in that as the scope waveform will change as soon as another radio is hooked up to it to drive it.

Seems like a high dead key. The amp might get hot. Imo
Can use a lower key, no problem
@@TheRadioGarage thanks I knew you could
Looks like the trucker has more power. True? Same price and 2 pill
Not sure what trucker you are referring to? This unit is considered a trucker which just refers to the cabinet that it's in.
I have a RM Italy 200p single transistor. It's way better than my 203p
Good to know
