    You should have mentioned the double copper braiding and the teflon dielectric in comparison to the single braiding and foam dielectric. Also talk about how heat (more so on external application) is the coax KILLER.

      You're absolutely right, I missed some very good points. Maybe next time 👍

    I just ran 100 ft LMR 400 from my solarcon antron a99 and my swrs are flat. I am so happy. Times Microwave. And 6 ft jumpers out of the same stuff.

    Great info, Matt!
    First time I heard of RG400! I thought it was always RG-8X as the go-to for short jumpers! Can you provide links to your sources of supply for the RG400? Harbour Industries and/or Carlisle directly..or third-party retailer? Also, what are your favorite PL-259 connectors site/supplier link?
    Also, I understand that UG-175/176 reducers are required for RG-8X/RG400 coax, yes? I've only attached compression-type PL-259's to my Davis RF Bury-Flex (LMR-400) coax that I'm using here at home with my vintage CPI-2000 base radio & console and Sirio GPS-27 1/2-wave omni antenna.

      I have rg400 available in my online store and also connectors. I only currently use Max Gain for all my connectors. They are my favorite. They do make a cheaper non silver version as well but I currently only carry their highest quality silver with Teflon ones. Thanks for watching!

    All I use is RG213 and RG400, it last for years inside and even outside with the elements. PTFE and also double shielding is a must‼️ 73

      @@GroundControl204 Amen, Brother! I use the best I can afford. If I can't afford the best stuff, I wait until I can. I have Mil. Spec. RG213 on my mobiles. A bear to run, but a bear for the wear and performance.

    I don't know how many times I've had the same conversation with people that think it's crazy to spend $$$ on coax when they got this "excellent" run of coax at the flea market for $. I look at it and you can tell the braid is like 75% and the connectors look much cheaper than the ones you had in this video.

    Hi matt!, is it true that jumper coax should be 3 feet in length to be resonant?

  • @blainehartley9157
    @blainehartley9157 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Yes yes yes!!! It’s not just a radio it’s not just the antenna it’s a COMPLETE SYSTEM……I see many many many times a high dollar high output radio and a “high performance” antenna purchased and connected with $8 truck stop or Amazon coax…..why?!?!? What good is a radio or antenna if you can’t get all the power from one to the other?? DON’T SKIMP ON COAX……do you have a lot of NOISE in your receiver??? Yes proper grounding helps but so does QUALITY COAX….don’t cut corners it’s more expensive for repairs than the initial price difference to do it right
