In the early 90s we used to drill holes to make the nose longer. After seeing Lance Mountain doing it on Sk8 TV it just made sense ..nose slides were popular.
I have the chems tool and have used it to alter my boards dimensions. Short tails seem rampant on wider boards(8.5) I’m gonna do my next one for sure. A little scared of the extra short wb though.
I am only 20 minutes in, big fan of those type of videos, I hope there will be more. Always cool to hear about people's setups and why they do certain things. My old wheels were like 48 mm and I just setup new 54mm Conicals today. Been riding 52mm wheels for a few years and now I am a bit nervous because of the extra 2mm. 😅
I will say everyone trips out on my set up and you might to I ride a 9 inch board usually anti hero or something from deluxe of that size or any other brand that carries 9 inch boards I'm currently riding a solstice 9 shop board I ride 60mm spitfire formal 4 101 Derometer the ace trucks that are for a 8.75 to 9 Inch board and I also ride my trucks without washers to make my trucks looser set up madness and yes I still flip my board with the tank I skate and I've been riding the same set up for years and enjoy it cheers guys great episode
@@socialpariah. the no washers is a hard pass from me. i like med/tight trucks but, putting that aside, it seems like the nut would destroy the bushing if you didn't run washers of any kind. wheels sound fine but i'd go for 99 or 97 rather than 101.
@diplenski the whole point of no washers is to make your trucks looser surprising it really doesn't destroy your bushings as much as you'd think plus my local shop sells ace trucks bushings and the wheels are my preference at 101 Derometer I was just sharing my board set up I like to be able to slide as much as possible weather it be power slide nose slides, tail slides blunt slides and noseblunt slides if I could do them it's just what I prefer but thanks for your take on my set up the peanut gallery Is alive and well lol

Would be cool if you could talk about injuries and wear and tear from getting older and how you managed to get through it to keep skating. I’m almost 32 and I’m having lower back and hip issues already and it’s getting harder to skate at my full potential
Or is that your new full potential? I’ve definitely had to accept the shit I could do 10 years ago I can’t do now. Lots of foam rolling and good stretching is helping me
I changed out to 52mm a few months ago from 50mm. I was having issues slipping out on my crooked grinds for some reason and decided I should try a little more wheel. Haven’t had an issue with the crooks since.
17:31 I have mini logo's in Bones X formula's at the moment at £5.00 they are the cheapest bearings I have ever owned in 30 plus years of skating and I'm impressed. It does feel odd that my deck is a Flight & held together by Ace Hollow bolts Allen 7/8 w/ Shorty's lights nuts, steered by Independent Titanium 139.
@@deadonarrival2882 starting skating in about 1990 it seemed that for the first five years shaving off any weight off of boards was desirable. Twelve year old me would be impressed, with the exception of a Powell board.
i kinda want to try grindking rocket bolts. they hammer in, and the head is shaped like a star. i remember bridgebolts were legit, and gk trucks/kingpins are nice, so i imagine these are good quality too
i like random girly little kid stickers, like the ones that come on sheets from craft stores. hello kitty, unicorns, etc. mixed in with my skate stickers
I think my only real madness now is I have to be absolutely sure that a board isn’t square shape before I buy it il even call skate shops to ask them. I fucking hate square shape

i like 56-60, usually 56. but i do have a few 52-54mm. and some 45ish ones from the '90s
