Weird question: the reason I found this video is that I was looking for information on Egyptian hair (searching for Egyptian hair gives you hoteps+ African American hair care) and I remembered Dina back in the day so I figured I would look for a specific Egyptian woman rather than generic Egyptian hair. Can you as an Egyptian get loqs/locs or do you just get terrible mats the way European ppl who try to grow dreadlocks get? I mean how curly is your hair?
Omg, Muslim girls were constantly on her back about that damn hijab! “You are not wearing it right,” “you can see a little hair” “either wear it properly or don’t wear it all.” They were so horrible to her I feel they were the ones that were sinning. They were vicious! Not representative of any religion!
Hi Mimzy, thank you for continuing to stand up for freedom and autonomy even when you have a sea of indoctrinated robots trying to shut you down. You're doing a really important thing and every current AND future ex-Muslim thanks you for your efforts. It was a feminist explaining the absurdity of modesty culture that woke me up from the brainwashed state I was in and I'm sure you will liberate many women in the same way. Love your work!
As an ex Muslim hijabi myself, is kinda like a life commitment. If you have yet to wear hijab, every now and then maybe some people are gonna advise you to wear it. But when you take it off, suddenly you'd get criticized by everyone, and the funny thing is including non hijabi Muslim women. That's why my some of my muslim friends are afraid to wear hijab in the teens or in their 20's, cause they're not sure they will wear it for their whole. So usually they wait till they're married and have kids.
I'm a UK ex-muslim myself and from what I can observe, muslim women taking off their hijab especially ones who've worn it for decades is like telling non-muslim girls to take of their bras and shirts. It literally makes them feel naked. What's more is that now everyone else stares if they do because you've stigmatized that body part. If not so much emphasis was put on it (like you just wear it when your head's cold or something, that's what my mom does) then nobody would stare or make a big deal of it. Despite all the subjective, religious talk and debate about modesty blah blah blah, I for one think everyone deserves to feel the wind through their hair.
Of course it's not a choice, it's religious, cultural and social obligation, I'm an ex muslim woman and still wear hijab because I don't have enough courage to face my community with my decision 😢
For the fact that this video has almost 3k dislikes really shows that you are so relevant and that should be an encouragement for you to keep on the good work you are doing, thank you sister, you just earned a subscriber 👍👍👍
I only wear Hijab for Allah and Allah alone, and I never have felt “oppressed” or feel that my freedom has been lost - in fact wearing the Hijab has made me feel more comfortable and free than ever. I also LOVE that people see me FIRST as a Muslim women because of my Hijab. This video really directly puts down women who genuinely wear the Hijab because they want too, so why are you making it seem like wearing Hijab is the worst thing ever?! There’s nothing wrong with a Muslim choosing to obey the word of God, and you really have no right to put women down who choose to wear the Hijab.
I completely agree. I just planning to wear hijab in the near future. The problem a woman should always decide herself to wear it, not family or husband. Who can know you are ready for it and understand the purpose if not you?
Problem is not wearing headscarf...problem is in hijab. Preachings about men's lust.victim blaming and justification of rape. Hijab is not about headscarf.its about rape culture. BANNING HIJAB IS A GOOD IDEA.
the problem here is that most women in this world wearing hijab, niqab, or burqa DO NOT have a choice. Nowadays the 0.0001% hijabis living in the west and do not have a crazy family are speaking for all Mulsim women. This is just pure stupidity and ignorance
Allah is bigger than a small piece of tissue that is covering your head. I am a hijabi but the whole idea of hijab is not ever explicitly cited in Quran .. it is more about the culture than Islam itself.
Fantastic video Mimzy. Some of the hate in the comment section shows how intollerant some people are. Please don't be put off by the hate. To many ex Muslims, like me, we are grateful for ex Muslim voices like yours and Veedus out there. You guys inspire us to come out and say to our families and friends that we do not believe, rather than living our lives in fear, in the closet
Triggered Muslims lol Never stop Mimzy because you are a voice for a lot of ex-Muslims who can’t speak out. Your strength is beautiful and your stories are inspiring. Taking off the Hijab and leaving Islam is one of the best things that ever happen to me. 💙 lots of love
Peace and blessings to you all, as a practicing Muslim the muslim community’s response to Dina Tokios decision to take off the hijab really broke my heart. It’s so sad to see muslims tear other muslims down. Dina Tokio should be able to do whatever she wishes without being slaughtered by other believers. It’s between her and god I wish people could understand that and get off their high horses and learn to be a bit more tolerant and accepting. Some muslims can be really instrumental in leading sisters away from Islam and god. Ughhh so infuriating! May Allah forgive us for our shortcomings and protect and rid us from arrogance. Surely coming from a place of self righteousness and arrogance is much more satanic than taking of hijab. I mean that’s exactly what shaytaan did! He thought he was better than Adam. :(
Magda Ali Muslim tear muslims down for 1400 years Magda, Abu Bakr start fighting the hypocrites already as ordered in Surah 9:73. Islam is not from God, Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no one comes through God except through Him. God bless
I don't understand why people are bashing Mimzy while she has been so supportive of Dina Tokio? Is wrong to support those people for the turmoil they go through simply just choosing not to wear hijab? She has a right to support other women. Get a life, people.
That's fine, I respect your opinion on that. I respect anyone's opinion as long as it doesn't involve violence. But what I am saying is there will be other opinions which deserves the same respect. What the Muslim community struggle to do is exactly that. Peace x
Women or Girls ( and of course even men and/or boys)who think Hijab is a definition of freedom and empowerment of women should openly criticize and condemn people and/or governments or even nations who force women to wear hijab. But, I don't see them. So, those women who condemn or criticize or even say or react to people who have taken hijab are DAMN COWARDS. PERIOD.
Salam sis, why would you make this video if you didn’t care. And stop hijab shaming, it’s a personal choice, don’t go hijab bashing people. She didn’t need to make a public announcement it’s between her and Allah talla.
aliyariz74 She's doing that because, as it' been mentioned in Islamic Tradition : ودت الزانية لو كن كل النساء زواني (rough translation: " A fallen woman [fell into sin] would wish if all other women would fall, too") That's why Mimzy is soooo happy !! Really sad to be honest! Anyone who gets real delight from other people sinning will receive God's wrath, let alone those who 'encourage/cheer' others to sin! May Allah (SWT) guide them, and us, and all Muslims. Ameen.
@@humblesentiments1553 : It's part of Islam. Islam isn't like other 'pick and choose/cafeteria like' religions for you to tell Muslims 'make Hijab a choice!!' What an ignorant person!! (Well, if you're a non-Muslim then you have all the excuse in the World not to know that. But if you're a Muslim then brother/sister you really need to re-educate yourself about Islam; it's something we do constantly FYI keep learning about the Deen). Salaam to you (either way) and to all.
it is not a personal choice if the entire society forces it upon you. oh yah all women in Saudi Arabia and Iran FREELY CHOOSE to wear burqa. sure thing
The hate she had been receiving was disgusting and I'm sure it won't get any better. What's changed except what is comfortable for her? She's not suddenly a stripper or promiscuous or a bad person or apostate etc. She's the same today as she was yesterday.
@@Leviathan123456 yeah I get that if you followed her because she was your hijabi role model you'd be confused. I like her because she and Sid make funny videos. She seems like a good mom. And she takes charge of her life. Most importantly she's been honest about her struggle.
@hanna yeah and they were absolutely toxic towards her. Have you read the comments insulting her for choice of baby name. Or for not shaving her baby's head after he was born? Even her mother and siblings aren't safe from some in that community. I get that they would feel betrayed in a way. But I don't see her as some charlatan who has pretended to be muslim to get views. She has been honest about her struggles with hijab and has even said in the past that she doesn't like wearing it but does as an obligation of faith. And even if she hadn't already spoken about rhe burden of wearing hijab you can see the evolution of her style. Is she not allowed to have an evolution of her faith? To change her mind?
Hahaha love the video sis I’m so happy that Dina has take off her hijab ♥️ be free ! We all knew Dina wanted to take off her hijab and she finally did it god oh her ✨
So many judgmental people in the comments section! I thought muslims believed only Allah can judge? Mimzy - Sending you some love amongst all the hatred :D
@InChristalone she's a Muslim hater and all she does is bring out useless vlogs demonizing Muslims and the hijaab she is using dina who does not even agree with her one bit,she is using her to prove her point which is misleading the ignorant
It has been a year since I took off my hijab, and I have never felt so free and happy like I am now. I am still Muslim and I love being a Muslim but Hijab was never my choice and it will never be. Thank you I really enjoy your videos. keep going.
Once again. Sweet and beautiful video presenting facts. Ignore the trolls trying to do their best to silence/ban you (and people like you). Better do what JaclynGlenn possibly did. AND ALSO ADVANCED CONGRATS FOR REACHING 5K SUBS. GREAT GOING MIMZY. ALL THE BEST. :)
@@MimzyVidz Thanks for your sweet complementary comment. I m not exactly sure she did that, but I said she possibly did that. I mean she herself might have done it or she let youtube do it. When she reacted to Islamic video, trolls, just like here disliked the video of hers. Just for the sake of disliking it so that her dislike bar is big. So, after a few days, the Muslim trolls started commenting/complaining if/whether she has disabled the dislike bar of theirs (whereas, it was perfectly fine when I watched it, and working for me, as I was not a troll :P).

If I stop my car at the red light, I am doing it of my free will, and I am respecting the law that obliges me to stop at red the light. It doesn't mean I didn't do it of free will. The guy who chooses to pass through the red light and kills a passenger, chose of his free will to not respect law order. We both had FREE will and CHOICE. Do you get it? Choosing to wear hijab is free choice of every person, to either follow God's order either not. How can you tell every single Muslim lady that wears hijab that she is forcing it upon herself, even if no one else is forcing her? The fact we can not go out naked, because law forbids it, doesn't mean it is not our free will at the same time. You choose to not go out naked, it is not just mere following of law. Should I come to you and question your free will and amount of freedom you have in life if you prefer to dress before going in public? Do you get it? Your arguments are so invalid and illogical. Moreover, they are insulting intelligence of every other human being who decides for them selves what to wear and what not.
this is only choice, not a free choice, free choice is a choice that doesn't carry extremely negative or positive consequences. when it comes to your analogies, if you didn't stop at the red light you will be punished, here you don't have a free choice, your choice is heavily influenced by the fact that you will get punished if you didn't stop.
We are don't go out nude .because of modesty. Since old times men have told that normal girl can't speak.but her clothes will speak for her. Even burqa females got raped because of religious immorality what justifies crimes.if men killed after every kind of rape...others will start respect every kind of women....naked or fully covered.so....... We haven't free will ....we live for society....
If I said live your life according to what I say, you could have a choice perhaps. But if I said live your life my way or I will shoot you and you will have a painful punishment if you don’t listen to me! Not much of a choice. Freedom of choice would be in a neutral scenario not with a lingering threat of violence.
Wtf😂😂 is this girl on about loool , she's trying to say it's better to change Qur'an for society wtffff , the hadith says , towards the end of time what is halal will become haram
@Haha Haha: You're right. But then there are those who just because they read a couple of books on philosophy, logic and rationalism started to think they're such a great thinker they could legislate what's right (Halal) and what's wrong (Haram). Oh, I actually meant those who actually read a book or two on those issues (I really doubt if Dina and Mimzy could handle such books/ uni Phil. courses). They just "feeeeeeeeeel" it's "right" ...yeah...you know how important 'intuition' is :P ;) :D Salaam to you and to all.
rahnuma11 she can talk on whatever she wants too! If you ran towards right from a rapist and you saw someone walking towards left/ towards the rapist.. would you warn the people or let them be raped..?
I noticed that when I walked on the street with the scarf on my head (I have some nice pashminas from Pakistan) even just because it was cold or raining, the Muslim men used to stare at me or even randomly say "mashallah". It felt creepy and judgemental because even though it was supposedly positive - that's none of their business. Of course choice is empowerment, choice is freedom and that's happiness when you know what you doing things for. Hujab is also an easy way to manipulate people's (Muslim's) opinion about you because they approve of you even regardless of what you have inside. I find it stupid and superficial. It doesn't really add to your piousness, it only shows men that you're obedient and they like it because it gives them a signal that they don't have to make any effort from their side, their modesty isn't tested and they feel like they have authority over you regardless of them knowing you or not, they feel like they can randomly "mansplain" to a "sister" and she has to take it "modestly".
Women wear the hijab because “it shows modesty of their beauty”. Anyone with sense knows how’s stupid this argument is. It’s as simple as “I don’t like you staring at my property”.
I hope other hijabis stop making it so difficult for women who have decided to take the scarf off. I can relate to Dina, as I took it off after 18 years. It was a tough decision to make, as it had become a part of me. But I knew it was the right thing for me to do. I still find it very difficult around certain people who are meant to be very close to me. I cannot do things to please others, I have to think of myself sometimes. Others need to be more accepting of those who have decided to stop wearing a scarf, and understand we are entitled to our own opinion and entitled to do as we please....whether another person likes it or not.
It’s not a walk in the park taking it off, can’t really say what’s worse, but some people act like I have apostatised just because I’ve decided to take it off.
How about an inquisition, all those that do not conform to the modern western civilization's dress code and fashion sense for women, be either killed or imprisoned. This will get rid of headscarf and then no one will need to make a choice anymore.
thank you for sharing what's on your mind no matter what. do not let people make you feel down or anything like that, such a brave inspirational person!
Hey Mimzy haven’t you noticed how some Quran rulings such as Slavery and Child marriage are seen today by the Muslim community as ‘outdated’ and ‘not for our time’ yet oppressive ones like Hijab are still kept. Seems like double standards to me!
Still wondering what makes you so happy that a girl takes off her hjiab do you feel so lonely and want everyone to share your point of view? Dina has all the rights to do whatever she likes and non of us can judge her because this is Allah's job not our. You mentioned a point about having a choice, this is so hallarious , do you like to do exams ? Probably not so you are forced to do them to pass your degree. If the university can impose regulations on you why cannot the creater of this universe? And what is the modern reading of Quran 😂😂😂are you kidding me ?i have no words for you but do read some philosophy books to have a slight idea how to make a sensible argument One last thing wearing the hijab would make you a speaker well I guess being a speaker and knowing how to argue is a skill not a shamefull thing
Allah is omniscient. There are no exams needed. Allah is omnipotent. There are no regulations needed. If someone need exams and regulations then he or she is not Allah.
The like-dislike ratio...I'm completely in awe LOL. Well I'd like to say that I absolutely loved the video and all of your points were spot on! Ignore the haters ;)
I am actually contemplating it myself. I know that my views have shifted. I do beleive in Allah and basic 5 pillars but I am more inclined to look at religions in general as something you can refer to but that I dont have to take literally but view from a historical lense.
Jacqueline Hadid right! exactly my thoughts. Ears and neck/chest are not covered. Hair showing. Adornments/jewelry is on show. I know this much even as a non-Muslim. It’s in scripture and Imams (even here on TH-cam) explain just how what Dina was wearing is explicitly haram according to Islamic law.
People saying, "Why would you be excited about her taking it off?" obviously don't realize they're proving the exact reason you SHOULD be making this video. If you go around saying "it's a choice" and celebrating and highlighting women putting it ON, you should be just as excited and giving attention to Muslim women taking it OFF. And yet, no one will. And I saw her write about all the hate she's getting from the supposedly loving hijabi community for taking it off. So you go Mimzy, tell the world about a woman's right to choose, and call out the hypocrites!
Carin Gavin “woman’s rights to choose” literally nobody’s judging dina,we are obviously just pointing out the fact that this TH-camr is happy talking about a really serious subject.
@@xmariax3186 "A really serious subject." ?? I thought that was only a piece of cloth. Oh, I guess is "only a piece of cloth" when a woman decides to use it, but suddenly is a "serious subject" when a woman decides to take it off.
I hate that several videos on this channel that are critical of Islam get such a skewed like-to-dislike ratio. These videos are really important, and they don't deserve the dislikes.
MrPinoCavallo i applied her method to Myriam François Cerrah , BBC reporter, Islam convert and she was right. Myriam is no longer in the hijab. It is clear Mimzy knows this stuff
You are so brave and courageous to raise your opinion in front of camera seeing all the backlash you get from angry Muslims judging you. You are doing an amazing job. I have so much respect for you. Brave, intelligent woman. Keep this up! Thank you
Mimzy you have no idea how empowering your videos are. even beyond islam itself. the people in my community (mormons) are super religious as well and although reformation has tamed the faith most active members also put great emphasis on wearing "special garments" and that greatly affects what kind of clothes one can or should wear. I am all for freedom of expression, inovation and creativity I too hope Dina can fully express herself freely as well as all muslim women.💜
In India, Karnataka State government banned hijab from Schools and Colleges and now India is not a secular country no more. what a shame. I think Muslims should go to Pakistan if they think like so.
I had this bengladeshi friend who comes to college then takes off her hijab then wears it again before going home. Once she asked me if I wished there was no religion. Without thinking i was like I dont really feel restricted in mine. She went silent and then on she became shadey 😂😭
@Ebz İSTANBUL why are you getting angry for her? She doesn't even know you exist😁 Everyone supporting her today will be the first to run away from her on the day of judgment.
I cannot believe this has so many dislikes! Some people can't handle other opinions, or even a different interpretation of the same religion. I am not Muslim, but I follow both Muslim and ex-Muslim TH-camrs. It saddens me when I read the comments on some Muslim's comment sections, saying things like "you know you can't pray in nail polish right??" "part of your hair is showing >:(" "you can't wear perfume, there's alcohol in it!!" Can people STOP telling others that they're not following the religion "properly"?? Who's gonna stop praying just because they have nail polish on? Who cares about all these minor things? Why are people more concerned about these minor "rules" than they are about spreading love or bigger issues like goddamn honor killings?? Not to mention what others have said, it only seems to be a choice until you take the hijab off. I never see Muslims who don't usually wear a headscarf get harassed for not wearing it, but if they're already wearing it and then take it off then that's suddenly a problem? How are the two even different?? Well all I can say is thank you for speaking out about this!!
Orgasm Donor exactly! Especially while transitioning from the strict hijab to no hijab at all, wearing a turban, then a hat, then you show little bit of hair, and then it comes off. It’s a bit strange in the beginning... you feel naked and that everyone is staring at you... later on you learn to style your hair and finally blend in with the crowd! Freedom at last! Good luck to Dina!
Why is she playing around with it?If she wants to take the hijab she should just do it.The end.I seriously don’t get this hesitation BS.Wear it or don’t
. When I was in Jeddah I wore a black abaya and a black scarf as the local women do to blend in. It felt great to be called “madam” ... I didn’t get the same treatment when I wore a turban style hijab there. How would you call that?
Muslims are pissed 😂😂😂 I’m am agnostic Christian who watch atheist, Christian, Muslim, exmuslim and others religion because I love learning. I can’t close my mind into learning from Christian just because I happen to be Christian
I hope if Dina wants to take off the hijab she is able to do so one day. I think because she just published a book on modesty (with hijab being a talking point in it) she should probably wait a little while and transition into it slowly.
I thought you made some valid points through your video, I scrolled down and was surprised to see the amount of hate on this video! Props to you for standing your ground and not disabling the comment section. Really proves some of the point you made in the video.
I did something similar like Dina too when I was muslim. the first thing I doubt in islam was hijab (and wife beating verse) and when I discovered hijab wasn't a big deal, I start to wear it like turban style and eventually I took the hijab off and less than a year I left islam. It was stressful journey but I'm now happy and free.
The hijab is not just the headscarf itself but also the clothing or dress code. In other words, outer modesty (haya). Muslims are learned to try to attain both inner and outer haya. Also if you look back at pictures from a couple of decades ago you'll see almost all women wore a hijab in European countries too, and in Judaism and Christianity it is a must to wear a hijab although not many follow this rule. Christianity stating that: For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. (1 Corinthians 11:6 New International Version) While in Islam it is said that although wearing a hijab is obligated, no one may actually force a women to do so, as it's a choice of herself and it is something between her and God if she chooses not too. Islam tells women to cover up and be modest the same way men should be modest and lower their gaze. Not wearing the hijab is not even in the 70 major sins in Islam and you can follow every other aspect of Islam however just simply not wear the hijab. Although Islam tells us to cover our hair, there are many Muslim girls and women who do not wear the hijab these days however are modest in their behaviour and language and follow Islam in ever single other aspect. Take the example of TH-camr Daniela M Biah who gives a good example of a Muslim women although she does not wear the hijab. Or why don't you take the a look at countries such as Morocco, Bosnia or Lebanon for example. Yes, Islam tells us to wear the hijab but as already mentioned Islam also makes it very clear that at the end of the day it's the woman's choice whether or not she decides to wear it. Of course her parents or partner for example may suggest or ask for her to wear it but they cannot force her, neither physically nor mentally in a persuasive way. A lot of women choose to wear the hijab because it makes them feel closer to God, they get reminded of their faith and who they are and it plays a role in their identity as a Muslim woman, others wear a hijab as fashion or it makes them feel more comfortable this way. Why would you want to prevent them from reaching this goal for themselves? ''Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah (God) is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah (God), that ye may attain Bliss.'' - The Quran 24:30-31 However this doesn't even matter, more importantly in Islam is what is in your heart and being kind to people and treating others with respect then after that comes things such as the hijab. To me it seems you do not understand the basics of Islam well enough so in that case it would only be logical you don't understand the other aspects of Islam. If you don't understand basic math (1 + 1 = 2) then how would you ever be able to understand algebra?
This is one verse anti-Islamists always pick to prove how violent Islam is and encourages violent behaviour, in this case to women. I've linked an article which explains the verse clearly as well as going by a step by step translation and also explaining when the verse was revealed, for what purpose as well as what actually is meant by it. This verse is so often mistranslated and misinterpreted by non-Muslims who do not take the time to actually learn about it and read the Quran. So, I hope you actually take the time to read the article from the link I send you. Here it is explained very clearly and simply: www.islamicity.org/11451/quran-strikes-out-wife-beating/ Here's a video explaining it: th-cam.com/video/6DcF4F4US8Q/w-d-xo.html
@Nina Gomez A piece of cloth cannot determine the modesty or the ethics of someone so simply hijab is a tool of oppression to control women. Why muslims always claim when someone leave islam that they didn't understand the basics of Islam? I studied islam for years before leaving it. I can speak arabic very well so understanding quran and hadith was easy. I can understand islam better than many muslims. For me islam is disgusting religion and i'm very happy i left islamic cult.
I came across your yt channel a month ago and i feel connected tp everything u said. Im a Muslim living in Muslim country. Im not in any way have any doubt to divert from islam but there is rationale in what you've said. I felt bad deep down. I felt like i have committed a sin to agree on things u said. Im torn inside
To be able to think openly, like you've done, isn't it a wonderful feeling? To question more feels even greater and liberating! You then get to a stage when there is nothing to fear ever, and you are living a happy life. No one can take that from you, only you can.
You should hear solid rationales from many more certified scholars. You would nodding your head definitively way more to those I'm sure. Can't just listen to one part of a party now :)
The difference between Dina and this sado is dina is going through the ytber stage of burnout, and this sado left Islam when unfortunately and sadly her father told her he was leaving.
As a white english muslim woman myself i feel a bit sad about Dina. But we have free will in Islam so if we do something God doesn't like we will have consequences for those actions. That is my belief as a muslim and before anybody starts telling me i'm brainwashed or something i'm a 55 yr old woman so i probably have more life experience than most of you commenting. If we have freedom as a woman in the uk to wear what we want. Why are other people so mad if i decide to wear a scarf on my head! It's my decision not yours it's my body! I don't go around telling people what they can and can't wear that's quite fascist. Some people need to get a life and stop obsessing about muslim woman's clothes for goodness sake! Dina will have to stand in front of God on judgement day as will i and all of us. Unless you don't believe in God then you have nothing to worry about do you? By the way christians and jews also believe in God and a judgement day. Peace.
@landof thebrave I don't think you are aware of what the Sharia is!, just bring me any proof from the Quran or hadith that order to punish a woman for not wearing hijab :).. if you don't know how it works in Islam, we can teach you: Islam is not Arabia Saudi or Iran: it's called ISLAM.
@@leilagrant6701 Salam sister. Thank you for sincerely opening up and taking the time to search for the truth. I'm telling you this even though you've probably been Muslim for quite some time now. On your comment honestly I don't get it either, what does it matter to non-Muslims whether a woman wears a piece of cloth over her head or not? It seems that these people do not have anything better to worry about, lol. Also, Christians and Jews are obligated from their religion to cover their head although not many follow this rule. Still it doesn't change the point, why don't these people start worrying about and vest time in preventing starvation and hunger in the world, people becoming homeless or being poor, not having clean drink water or suffering from terrible diseases. Just simply giving back to your community or donating a bit to charity helps. Apparently, sitting on their bums behind the computer commenting on how women should not be allowed to wear a piece of cloth on their head (which actually infringes upon their rights to freedom) is more important to them. Anyways, this kind of became a rant sorry for that. Have a great day :)
You are so right. I cannot stand those two stupid parties of bigots called narcissistic Ex-Muslims and Gestapo Muslims craving for tolerance and undersranding but showing none. How ridiculously similiar they are... I prefer talking and listening to my soft toy unicorn and my cat, tbh. 😂
Im proud of Dina she is doing what she feels is right for her even though her brand was built around being hijabi, so I think its a very genuine thought out decision Im happy her husband is supporting her.
Please continue making these kind of videos even though you may receive negative comments. It’s sad people feel a need to bash her because she’s happy??? Maybe she’s happy because someone is happy that they are free from Islamic ways and it’s funny how Muslims says she left Islam move on but Muslims stay on the internet trying to tell people about their Allah 😂 how about y’all follow your own stuff and move on also cause some people don’t care you are Muslim or feel the a hijab protects you in any ways so keep it to yourself as you want her to keep it to herself 🤷🏽♀️
Seeing all the modesty shaming and insults done by muslim fundamentalists, at least it debunks the nonsense that most muslim women wear the hijab out of their own free will
Some people on here are literally proving this girl by bashing her in the same way that she says does go on amongst Muslims which is literally part of the criticism and they’re doing it anyways and still expect other to believe them.
You are so awesome! This just reminded me of my own experience when I stopped wearing it, it was so hard! Thank you Marwa! Love you and Dina! mwaaaah ❤❤❤❤
@@ali_8289 Yeh sorry, I wrote a few replies actually and deleted them because I'm not interested in getting into any long discussions. I used to be a very conservative Muslim, then I realised it was more about culture, tradition and community so I stopped. But I always have guys tell me I need to cover up. It's a choice I made after looking into it in detail and educating myself. Ofcourse hijab was not invented by muslims but has turned into an identity garment. It's great if people wear what they want, but when someone says to me "It's prescribed by Allah", something I also believed before learning otherwise, it's unnecessary. Yes many Muslim women wear it as part of their interpretation, but that's just 1 interpretation. I don't wear it because I know it's a historical tradition rather than anything more than that, definitely nothing to do with modesty from what I've seen and experienced but I'm happy for everyone to wear what they like and stop wearing it also. We are not here to judge others. Live life for yourself and to help others rather than judge and guilt them into conforming to your own ideals. Anyway, sorry for the long answer, hope you didn't mind. Have a good day, and peace to you. :)
This video is extremely positive, and I love what you're doing. The first step to becoming truly happy is to take control over your own mind. That entails a lot of responsibility but it is really the only way. If you're letting other people do your thinking for you, then there's just no way to tell if you're being manipulated, or just led off a cliff by a genuine fool.
Dear sisters who are watching this, not all of us are as strong-as-steal in our iman, so use Dina Tokio as an example of the struggles that are around us and use it as an opportunity to understand the jihad we go through everyday. If you are struggling with the hijab, you can message me if you'd like in sha Allah. May Allah (swt) give us the strength to keep on our hijab.
@@lamp4616 My Lord, my Prophet and my Religion. It was ordered by Allah (swt) for all women to cover themselves. However, Hijab isn't a simple head covering - it is modesty in both our mannerisms, actions and appearance.
the amount of hate towards a person amazes me, people don't hesitate to judge! It's Dina's choice, maybe people don't seem to understand that whatever you do is judged, and sometimes the pressure is too much. I support whatever the person makes her/him feel better. And regarding religion, if we're gonna start with the rules, acting like God pretending to judge someone's actions is as bad as her choice. So girls, let people decide! God will judge us individually. Ignore the mean comments Mimzy x
This may be the catalyst for other hijabis to follow suit also. I can bet you there are lots of other hijabis that don't wanna wear the head scarf but do because they feel it's obligatory and their followers would leave if they dont.
It is not a must to be a muslim for we surely believe that Allah will never let us down.If the people refusing to wear the hijaab have weak imaans then I have nthng to say to them other than praying for them.May Allah make them come out of the darkness and put them in the light.
Not everyone thinks hijab is Islamic Egyptian activist nawal elsaadwai says it’s pre Islamic and the word khimar in the Koran refers to a khimar over the chest not the head. Only Old Testament says a woman who doesn’t cover her head should shave it off. I knw 99 pc of Muslims think khimar is headcovering but people who aren’t afraid to think critically do so. Khimar is Also known as a covering. You tube her if anyone is interesting she is outstanding
1 Corinthians 11:6 (CEB) If a woman doesn't cover her head, then she should have her hair cut off. If it is disgraceful for a woman to have short hair or to be shaved, then she should keep her head covered.
Fatima Fatima The verse in Old Testament refers to headcovering for women while praying. At the same time bear in mind that men were also obligated to put something on their head. Back then Jewish men used to have a head covering as well. This is still practised among traditional Jewish communities while the modern Jewish men just use a piece of material that they place on their heads.
I have a very important question for you! I have muslim friends that are very clearly struggling in the religion and are forcing themselves to abide by rules that they don't want to abide by on the inside. But for fear of being consumed by eternal hellfire, they're enduring it. They also seem to be very emotionally attached with the religion and don't want to consider that it could be wrong. It makes me really sad and I'd like to see them liberated. The inner conflict between their religion and personal desires is also causing them to be quite hypocritical and frustrated. Do you think there's anything that I can do to gently help them consider a different perspective?
Let peope BE... covered head or not! Mind your own.. so many bitter people on this channel. Edit: It's great you liked my comment. Hopefully you stop being a nonsensical gossiper.
You are gun and stick to what you believe and share it without hindrance or fear of backlash! You state the truth and I’m so proud of you! It takes courage to speak up your thoughts. Oh and please for the negative ones saying “respect choice seriously listen to what she is saying without taking your guns out! Love and peace ♥️
Just to make clear. I am just pro-choice! I relate to the fact that Dina struggled to take it off because she felt the need to please others. I know that SO SO well, my excitement is from knowing how hard it can be and then how liberating it is to make the decision to DO YOU and do what you WANT! In no way is it shade to Dina or even general hijabi's. A lot of women in my life that I love are hijabi's, so that wouldn't even make sense. I don't agree with the concept behind the hijab, that doesn't mean I would prevent people wearing it if they WANT to wear it. I only speak from a place of love & peace Very proud of Dina for choosing her own happiness over feeling bullied into doing something for others. xXxXx
Oh please!! you are speaking from a position where you are feeling victorious over Islam because a Muslim woman took off her "khimar" (not hijab)!!.. I feel that from your face expressions at the begining of the video, but she is still our sister in Islam until she declares she is no longer a muslim, what are your next expectations? LOL.
There are some wonderful commentators here, who have responded with great civility and eloquence to put a great shine on their belief and no 'doubt' the infinite happiness it brings them. However, when one has blind faith nothing less would be expected, no different to followers of Scientology, Jehovahs Witness, Mormonism...etc. Ordinarily I would not care, but the truth is there are actually many who ask questions, get no answers and then have doubt but are forced to still follow when they are no longer blind. I have met these individuals, and when I say they are petrified of being disowned it is an understatement. I should know I was one them. I'm nearly fifty and a few years ago spent a small fortune taking whole family on Umrah to clear up the doubts, only for them to be reinforced by amongst others the fanaticism and show of commercialisation I saw. I've openly told all I don't believe no more, and now have stopped visiting the mosque and pretending, it was one of the happiest moments of my life. For the faithful, I dare you answer these three: 1. If there was Adam and Eve, where did Chinese people come from? 2. Why in ayah 4:157 it categorically states Jesus was not crucified and killed, but in 5:47 it states those who do not believe the Gospel (bible) are rebels, and there it clear details the crucifixion? 3. In Koran moon is referred many times as a light, and when it fades the world will end? Last time I looked it was only reflecting sunlight. I know most of you will answer ‘Allahu A'alam’, and that is the beauty of blind faith. For those brave adventurers, I recommend a read of this book: Blind Faith www.amazon.co.uk/Blind-Faith-Ben-Elton/dp/0552773905
I will say, I have known devoted, strong, iman-rich Muslimas who wear the headscarf on a situational basis, and they still consider themselves to be wearing "hijab" which they see as just modesty in clothing. One friend told me that none of her friends know she even wears a headscarf, but she does wear it at work, which has given her such relief from the constant awkward flirtation she's experienced. The headscarf put an end to the flirtation. Again, not saying it's fard or not, but it can clearly have benefits, as my friend has seen, and she doesn't always wear it. So, just to let you know, and sorry to burst your bubble, but a woman who goes from always wearing it, to wearing it depending on situation isn't on the path to ex-muslimhood. I know you are all giddy to see people on your path to leaving Islam, but don't be surprised if you don't see Dina leaving Islam anytime soon.
Dina has not nor has she confirmed that she will. She's been wearing her hijab this way (showing a bit of hair) for more than a year. This missy just likes to make clickbait video's using clickbait titles.
Wearing or deciding to not wear the hijab is completely ones choice. Allah talks about modesty in the Koran and a lot of women have various views on what modesty means to them. Some feel they need to cover their hair some feel they need to cover their face some feel none of those are necessary. Whatever their choice is i think it’s no ones business and at the end of the day it is between god and them. As a practising Muslim myself who does Not wear the head covering I believe I deserve the same respect as my hijab wearing sisters in Islam. People are focussing on minor aspects of Islam when they are forgetting the big picture. I agree with Mimzy that the Muslim community is very judgmental. We are too focused on what others do instead of focusing on bettering ourselves. We need to uplift each other instead of bringing eachother down. Asalamu alaikom ✌🏼
It looks like there is an ex muslim more in the world. I don't want even to imagine what Ali Dawah and people like him are going through right now lol :-)
Jerome Syed That is a great word to use in regarda to Ali and his mates - "gang". They are rude, insulting, not capable of decent conversations; they misbehave and cannot take criticism. They were already a few people Ali was "challenging" like Abdullah Sameer but as soon as they agreed to debate, Ali run away!!! Abdullah Sameer even posted it. The same is with David Wood who Ali constantly runs away from. Ali behaves like Zakir Naik - he is just good to talk to those muslims with no skills of logically thinking who just follow blindley what an "iman" says LOL Even from the time as I was muslim, I well remember that I found Ali and his gang pretty extreme, violent and arrogant. They look like possessed by a jinn or so. Lies of ex muslims??? Or do you mean their rejection of mental gymnastics to justify the unjustifable - for instance that Aysha was 18 as she married Muhammed, and not 6 as the most authentic Sahih hadith is saying; or that the surah 9:29 doesnt really mean what it actually says because it actually means giving flowers and hugs to Jews and Christians, rather than to fight and kill them LOL Time to open your eyes bro. Salam ;-)
Jerome Syed shouldn’t he be working on X not Y files? Or may be Ali D is just too stupid to realize he needs to be working on C instead of Y. Pity those who are the genetic result of consanguinity .
The best defense that I have always had against fearing other people's judgment is the knowledge that I can handle anyone's judgment and that it wouldn't break me. I remind myself when necessary "people's judgment of me won't kill me. I don't necessarily like it, but as long as I don't actually die I can handle all of it"

I hope your in a better situation now
yes finally somewone who gets it

You really voiced out succinctly what I have been thinking! I hope you don't let the toxic comments get to you. Much support from me :)
Because Islam assumes non muslims are the worst creature ever. Simply by not using hijab makes a woman a worst woman ever. That is a very bad idea.

Well said. Great analogy.
this is only choice, not a free choice, free choice is a choice that doesn't carry extremely negative or positive consequences.
when it comes to your analogies, if you didn't stop at the red light you will be punished, here you don't have a free choice, your choice is heavily influenced by the fact that you will get punished if you didn't stop.
Excellent analogy!

Non Muslim men never harass women or compliment them on their looks
Other Hijabis just pounce on you for taking it off. But apostatizing is 1000 times worse.
And what is the modern reading of Quran 😂😂😂are you kidding me ?i have no words for you but do read some philosophy books to have a slight idea how to make a sensible argument
One last thing wearing the hijab would make you a speaker well I guess being a speaker and knowing how to argue is a skill not a shamefull thing

I hate that several videos on this channel that are critical of Islam get such a skewed like-to-dislike ratio. These videos are really important, and they don't deserve the dislikes.
You predicted this!! Haven’t even watched your video but as soon as I heard I thought of you.

I hope people respect her decision.

No chance. Muslims are the most critical people on the earth. And Islam actually encourages it.
No one will. Remember, wearing a Hijab is a personal choice. As long as you choose to wear it.
Pretty obvious to see that many ppl don’t, and won’t, even from the comments here already
I had this bengladeshi friend who comes to college then takes off her hijab then wears it again before going home. Once she asked me if I wished there was no religion. Without thinking i was like I dont really feel restricted in mine. She went silent and then on she became shadey 😂😭
She was never wearing it the way she had to, that wasnt hijab actually!

The way she wears her hijab says it all, good thing she freed herself from that commitment.
Orgasm Donor there is the strict way of wearing, all the hair coverd with a khimar going down the shoulders.
S S it’s not that easy!

Christianity stating that:
For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. (1 Corinthians 11:6 New International Version)
While in Islam it is said that although wearing a hijab is obligated, no one may actually force a women to do so, as it's a choice of herself and it is something between her and God if she chooses not too.
And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah (God), that ye may attain Bliss.'' - The Quran 24:30-31
However this doesn't even matter, more importantly in Islam is what is in your heart and being kind to people and treating others with respect then after that comes things such as the hijab.
Here it is explained very clearly and simply:

A piece of cloth cannot determine the modesty or the ethics of someone so simply hijab is a tool of oppression to control women.
Why muslims always claim when someone leave islam that they didn't understand the basics of Islam? I studied islam for years before leaving it. I can speak arabic very well so understanding quran and hadith was easy. I can understand islam better than many muslims.

Peace.

I don't think you are aware of what the Sharia is!, just bring me any proof from the Quran or hadith that order to punish a woman for not wearing hijab :).. if you don't know how it works in Islam, we can teach you: Islam is not Arabia Saudi or Iran: it's called ISLAM.

Salam sister.

Why did you stop wearing it?

I can see your answer in my notifications but not under your comment. And no Im just curious wanting to know the reasons.

the amount of hate towards a person amazes me, people don't hesitate to judge! The verse in Old Testament refers to headcovering for women while praying.

First of all, Hijab is not a choice. If you decide to practice Islam and call your self a Muslim(ah) then you must wear the hijab.....

I am just pro-choice! I relate to the fact that Dina struggled to take it off because she felt the need to please others. I know that SO SO well, my excitement is from knowing how hard it can be and then how liberating it is to make the decision to DO YOU and do what you WANT!

For the faithful, I dare you answer these three:

Doesnt matter, routine gives false sense of security
Do meditation 5 times a day n u will feel same
You're amazing Mimzy! ♥️
I took off my hijab after wearing it for 6 years and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made - watch my video if you want :-)
They said it was a choice then sent her death threats lol
wait i googled it and i dont see her saying she is going to take it off?
Dina has not nor has she confirmed that she will. She's been wearing her hijab this way (showing a bit of hair) for more than a year. This missy just likes to make clickbait video's using clickbait titles.
She has it on her Twitter.
Tima Etta In Iran and Saudi Arabia and also in some Muslim families it is definitely not a choice.
She looks beautiful 💕💕💕thank god she took that thing of god bless her
Love this video and your personality. Dina Tokio is an inspiration indeed.
It looks like there is an ex muslim more in the world.
I don't want even to imagine what Ali Dawah and people like him are going through right now lol
:-)
Jerome Syed
That is a great word to use in regarda to Ali and his mates - "gang".
Ali behaves like Zakir Naik - he is just good to talk to those muslims with no skills of logically thinking who just follow blindley what an "iman" says LOL
Even from the time as I was muslim, I well remember that I found Ali and his gang pretty extreme, violent and arrogant. They look like possessed by a jinn or so.
Lies of ex muslims??? Or do you mean their rejection of mental gymnastics to justify the unjustifable - for instance that Aysha was 18 as she married Muhammed, and not 6 as the most authentic Sahih hadith is saying; or that the surah 9:29 doesnt really mean what it actually says because it actually means giving flowers and hugs to Jews and Christians, rather than to fight and kill them LOL
Time to open your eyes bro. Salam ;-)
Wonder if Ali D realizes that reducing the only true religion to women's hijab = blasphemy?
Jerome Syed shouldn’t he be working on X not Y files? Or may be Ali D is just too stupid to realize he needs to be working on C instead of Y. Pity those who are the genetic result of consanguinity .
The truthful ones become the liars and the liars will become the truthful ones, stop twisting everything
The best defense that I have always had against fearing other people's judgment is the knowledge that I can handle anyone's judgment and that it wouldn't break me. I remind myself when necessary "people's judgment of me won't kill me. I don't necessarily like it, but as long as I don't actually die I can handle all of it"
You are free to wear what you want 👸
Աննա Հովհաննիսյան but hijab is not choice.. either wear it or go to hell😂🤣 u r not free in islam
@@nishh6852 hijab have many meanings....one of them is just christian modesty.
But yes nowhere modesty is choice.
People reach it with slut shaming .
or not to wear anything...lol
@@arabicinbw3706 no dear...
If nudity becomes a tradition...it can't hurt people.
Remember homo sapienses wore less clothes then neanderthal .
And most violent people are decendants of homo sapiens+neanderthals

thank you for your reply... you atheists are really crazy!
you can't say nudity can't hurt people if it becomes a tradition since you didn't experience that :)
You said it very beautifully. You look happy but not in the way other people in the comments say. I think you are passionate about this because you have been through it yourself. And I agree I never choose to wear the hijab becaus I dindt like that whole community hijabis and a lot of people saying how to live my life and comment on anything. Sometimes I even felt like the community here in the Netherlands was pushing me away!
