    Mark's monologue at the end really got me emotional. I've tried so many times to start drawing, learning after effects, or 3D art with Blender; and it's such a painful process for me. I have literally cried trying to put pencil to sketch book and I just give up because I think I'll never be as good as other people, but like Mark said; art is only self comparative. I should take that lesson to heart going forward.
    "What you make next is only comparable to what you've made before, Even if you haven't made anything; is only comparable to what you made before which is nothing, therefor you have nothing to lose by starting." - Markiplier

    • @fabularis
      @fabularis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Three years ago I felt the exact same way about my art. I'm not saying I'm incredible now, but I've at least improved to the point where I feel decent about the work I've completed. Like, I can see plenty of room for improvement, but I don't feel embarrassed about someone seeing it.
      So keep going! You are going to be so, so happy you did. And, hey, in some ways having a critical eye can be a benefit -- you may not be where you want to be right now, but you know what you need to work on in order to get there. Just try not to beat yourself up while you're working on it. :)

    • @computerfairy

      ive been learning after effects and blender as well, and honestly the most helpful thing has just been following tutorials on youtube. once you get enough under your belt you start to gain some muscle memory, and it’s the same thing with drawing. it’s an old saying of course but practice really does make perfect! good luck, and dont give up!

    13:29 That was one of the most inspiring things I have heard in a long time.
    "In a lot of ways, it is a journey of trial and error, right? So you have your first project and it's garbage. It's garbage! It's so bad!
    Realize that making videos is a start of a neverending journey, of looking inward at yourself and measuring of what you're capable of doing, against an arena of people that have been doing it for years.
    It's like any creative medium, there are people in that field that are better than you are at that moment and that can be crippling. That can be devastating.
    *Understand that creation is not a comparative against those people; it's comparative against yourself. What you make next is only comparable to what you made before. Even if you haven't made anything, it's only comparable to what you made before, which is nothing. Therefore you have literally nothing to lose, by starting.*
    You can not fail just by making your first one."

    The story about the doors is hilarious to me because Star Trek TOS also had to scrap the motor plan and manually open them. 60 plus years and space ship doors are still just being yanked open by crew off screen. Sometimes the cheapest solution is the best solution.

    • @DaniCal1forn1a
      @DaniCal1forn1a 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Yeah... motors aren't the ideal solution for the doors tbh, if they really wanted a mechanical/pre-programmed method for it my first instinct would be using compressed air pistons... but then they introduce other issues like sound and potential reset time 😅. I can think of loads of potential ways to do it mechanically, but honestly just opening them by hand is the cheapest and simplest solution so I don't think it's worth it for a short term set anyway 😅

    I've been watching Mark for longer than I can remember, and I never even looked into what his name meant. After hearing the meaning behind it, all I can say is that it's beautiful. As I think back to all his videos, projects, and everything else, I can see some of the effect that this vision of "Markiplier" had.
    While I'm not pursuing film making to bring my idea to life like Mark is, coincidentally I have my own dream or idea that I want to bring to life. It's been a struggle to believe in myself and that I'll be able to bring my idea to life, especially when I'm so incapable right now, but it's comforting and encouraging to know that I'm not alone, that it's possible to bring ideas to life, and also that it's okay to rely on other people. I don't know if I'll be able ever bring my dream to life, or if it will change, but I'm going to keep working towards it, one microscopic step at a time.
    Thank you for being you Mark.

    I'm happy to see niko wearing a mega64 cap, they also taught the dudes to make vfx on their twitch driving streams

    I remember the days that I would just rewatch Corridor's videos over and over again, they are so awesome at the time, i loved them so much. Even tho now, i didn't study the path of these subjects, i still enjoy them. This channel was my first on viewing after effects stuff and vfx stuff, slowing learning how it made, you never know when they will be useful in life, so just keep stocking them in.
    Keep your channel strong, Team Corridor😎

    Markiplier is the most down to earth man I’ve ever watched on the internet. This is the reason I’ve been watching him for 10 years now. I love him so much. Thank you Corridor for this video!
