I'm already in the YPP, but this is a great step forward in making TH-cam and more creator-friendly platform. Now PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR ALGORITHM to make it possible for smaller channels to be discovered by more people. This is still one area where TikTok reigns supreme, but YT treats creators a lot better, so, if YT could make their algorithm work as well as TikTok's, TH-cam would explode with more growth than ever before. We're waiting!
That is great news! Can you also consider this as well: Content creators who are not apart of the partner program should have the ability to limit (turn off) TH-cam short remixes on a TH-cam short that has been posted. It shouldn’t take having to delete the short completely to then stop someone from using the content in a remix. Why have the permissions changed to remove the ability for ALL content creators to select “no” to remixing? A content creator who is not apart of the YPP shouldn’t have to delete the entire short for any remixes to be removed, especially considering once doing so, it would impact future copyright claims as the original content would have to be permanently deleted to disallow a remix. Please bring back the option for ALL creators to be able to remove/limit remixing on their content!
I honestly don’t see what the issue could be with someone remixing a video.. all publicity is good publicity.. those remixes add to your view count.. they benefit you.. why wouldn’t you want that 🤦♂️

After putting in so much hard work to get subs, it still took me 4 years to get monetized. The whole process is very mentally stressful. I could not stay consistent enough, and basically gave up.😢 These new standards should have BEEN in place. I am glad that now, newer and smaller channels have a much better chance of getting paid for their hard work.❤
As long as they don't reduce watch hours, what they're doing is meaningless for new channels. The most difficult is to collect 3000 hours. They need to bring it down to 500. I have 1 million views. There are still only 350 hours left. It takes several years to collect 3000 hours. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cover the expenses after earning money.
Wrong, the lower threshold is not for monetization... I got excited but yeah it took me 4 or 6 years to get 1000 subs many years ago. The views within a year might be impossible, it wasn't a thing with my old channel. T_T

If they are advertising on small channel videos taking away from the watchtime of small channels they should be paying the small channels regardless of how many subs or watch hours they have. TH-cam advertises on my videos and refuses to pay me because I do not have enough watch time.
It took me 30 days to get from 0 subscribers to 97,000 and I was earning £200-£300 everyday, it was amazing I got so lucky, then the algorithm just turned on me and stopped recommending all my videos and now I make nothing and applying for jobs in factories again :( TH-cam giveth, TH-cam taketh away

It would be nice to have a TH-cam partner program that screens channels early, to see if they’ll even qualify for YPP when they meet any of these or the standard criteria. There are some channels that work hard for over a year, finally meet criteria, only to find out they don’t qualify for YPP.
I'am from Bangladesh... I just started new TH-cam channel few days ago. I'm so happy to see this update. However this update isn't available yet in our country. But This is much appreciated... I think Streamers played a HUGE role in this move. Helped youtube see as live content creators, we drive a different market as long form content and keep ppl attention longer as well. Then on top of that, a lot of smaller creators make top tier content and only need a chance to be supported finically to go full time and produce at the next level. THANKS TH-cam ONCE AGAIN!
As a new creator with a Garden Channel, I’m glad YT lowered the requirements. A lot of us creators sometimes can’t blow up with just one video. It takes time, passion and a lot of commitment. 💪🏽💪

Oh this rules! I’ve been part of the Partner Program for a few years already but it’s been absurdly difficult for my friends to get close to that threshold. Lowering it is so good. I wish the revenue sharing threshold was also lowered though, I feel like anybody in the Partner Program should also have the ability to monetize their videos, but I get it

I was too excited that my channel would be monetized but when I found out that it was just to unlock super chat and stuff and not getting paid from youtube i was soo upset and in a deep sorrow I just thought to end my life!
This is cool. I need to be more proactive with my channel but I wish there was more of a platform of pushing smaller channels. I usually search something and then sort by newest uploads and thats how I find new channels but I wish it was more accessible in the algorithm to showcase newer channels naturally. I still have a hard time getting new and fresh videos because TH-cam always likes to show me videos I have watched before and it's rare to see some new content in my feed.
I was pleasantly surprised to see I qualified. Not sure I’ll earn money from the options, but it removed a ton of anxiety if I will be approved at 1k subscribers and 4k watch hours. Thank you!
