Loved this vid and so great to see another Solstice still being driven for fun or just for a corner store run. I ordered my Aggressive Red 2009 2.4L and picked it up on Sept 2008 with 3 miles on it. I purchased it as a fun daily driver and it STILL serves that purpose. With 208k miles on it now it has never let me down, it’s a road warrior!

Thank you so much for this review on the Pontiac Solstice and I’m a Solstice coupe owner in the UK being the only coupe in the country and around 13 convertibles here and I always gets attention everywhere I go. Imagine I’ve been stopped my a Porsche Taycan owner and Aston Martin asking me what car is that and giving compliments to this rare solstice coupe. Never ever I’m I gonna sell this pride. Well balanced car and handle so amazing in the curves and drives like a go-kart. I really appreciate this awesome video and shared with other owners on fb. Absolutely Subscribed 👍🏻👍🏻

FWIW, the SolsticeForum (one word) has been helping owners since 2003, and is still very active. Pontiac made approximately 66,000 Solstices, including 1265 targa fastback coupes, and 20, 2010s Solstices when the Wilmington factory was closed. In comparison, the Kappa sister car the Saturn Sky production was around 35,000, with only 8, 2010 cars built. There was also a Opel GT & Daewoo GX2 versions which are very similar t the Saturn Sky. So one platform (Kappa), with four different models being built on it. These cars have become somewhat popular to install LS engines into, including a few supercharged LS7s.

I own a black 06. It's my favorite daily driver. It out handles every car I have ever owned. I owned an 84 Supra, 88 SHO, 88 w41 Calais, 07 Solara, 04 Sebring, 01 Mustang and 71 Cutlass. All were good handling cars. The 88's were blisteringly fast. Nothing turns in and holds a corner like the solstice. You have to work to get speed out of the 2.4, but when you get it right, it is exhilarating!

And turns heads all the time.

Lucked up on a manual gearbox GXP version with less than 10K on her approx. 7 years ago. Even the base version with 5 speed is fun but the GXP with ECU flash, frame braces and UHP tires makes the car perform like it looks. If you can find one in great shape and you are an average to small person grab it. They are going up in $. GM should have made cars like this sooner as Pontiac would probably still be part of GM. I would love to drive one with an LS engine!!!
2wrdr, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. You are lucky to have found a manual gearbox because it truly is way more fun. It really is a shame that GM would let Pontiac die. My first love was a PONTIAC TRANSAM, the name Pontiac meant something and now sadly the new generation have no reference to that. Enjoy your car.. On the plus side the value will increase.
@@ClassicCarChitChat Welcome and yep after 7 years and putting less than 20K on her she is worth way more than I bought it for. Hard to describe the pleasure of directly controlling gearing while on roads like the dragon which make quick changes in elevation and turns at the same time. It is so engaging. It makes a day at the drag strip very boring. 😃
I ordered my new 2007 Solstice GXP triple black with every option except the spoiler and onstar. My car only has 7000 miles. FYI Pontiac and Saturn were axed by GM after the financial was created in 20o8, a widely known fact. Pontiac's are traditionally a wider car, hence its stance. GMs answer to the Miata. This blue colour is the most -ordered colour; the silver band on the window frame and behind the seats is significant to the appearance. The only flaw is the mechanics of the rear trunk operation and the door handles falling apart. . The 06 were partially hand-built and non turbo means you have a long-lasting engine. Plenty of power unless you are a street racer. Not great at extreme speeds. I have the same car. Love it!

Ok. Lol. I have a 2006 solstice dark blue that I only drive in the summer because I live in Tahoe and we get a ton of snow. I got mine in 2020 w/36k original miles for only $5000.00. A steal. I love mine. It’s so fun to drive. It corners like no other car. I also owned a 1976 MG Midget when I lived in Southern Ca. This car is heavy and it is solid. The horn sounds like a big car. This car turns heads. The way it sounds makes people look, the way it looks makes people stare and many people don’t know what it is or have never heard of it. It’s a shame they stopped making them. Because this car gets so much attention, it’s imperative that you learn to exit the car gracefully 😂😂😂. I love mine. It’s feels solid. My MG midget didn’t feel as safe nor did it handle quite as well. Plus on my Mg I think I replaced EVERYTHING. IVE HAD TO DO NOTHING to my Pontiac solstice except change the oil. A bear popped out my rag top window trying to get inside my car, I found via my insurance, they could not locate one replacement top in all of the US. That’s concerning to me. But I love this car. It’s fun to drive too. I’ve yet to drive is alone around emerald bay. Agree. I do t take mine on long road trips. Just around town and off the mountain every so often.

I own a 2008 GXP (only owner). Beautiful car. I did a bunch of little things for drivability, and a couple medium size things for power & handling. Sealed the paint, use a UV protectant top care spray, and she still looks like new at 65K miles. The aggressive red/orange paint looks stunning with a good carnauba wax. Packing judiciously, I was able to take a couples week driving tour in the summer. Can't put the top down but at faster highway speeds you don't really want to. OTOH driving to a destination all that gets unloaded where you're staying and you can cruise around with the top down while there. Hoping to keep this car long enough for someone to inherit it.
100k4stuff, it’s an awesome car and in the red/orange paint (similar to my MG 😊) with the wax she would get all the attention for sure. I currently own my 2nd Solstice, a 2006 Mallet (400HP LS2 V8). My first was a 2006, 2.4L Base which I turbo'd and raced. I'd have to disagree that the base model had dynamic performance. Even with the turbo added I was not satisfied. Maybe it's my nature, maybe its the awesome performance of current vehicles. My daily driver is a GolfR with a stage 1 tune. Anyways, the Solstice are great cars and I love mine!
Ron, having the type R as your daily certainly elevates your love of fine cars. I think you may have a point about the Turbo giving the extra punch needed. @@ClassicCarChitChat Kevin, I'd be happy to give you a review of my Mallet (it is no.16 of 100 built in '06, similar to how Shelby was contracted to build Mustangs, Mallet was contracted by Pontiac to build V8 Solstices). I'm in Winnipeg but I'm also up for a road trip!
Just another great example of a Pontiac Failure in not recognizing how cool this car really is and not continuously building wonderful cars like this one.
SO TRUE! Ive said the same damn thing. If you really think hard about it Pontiac is really the only American Car Company that has made a lineup throughout the ages of some very peculiar however special and unique cars.
Not really Pontiacs fault tho. There were initial plans to continue the model for a second generation. The Blame lays solely on GM for choosing Pontiac (as well as Saturn and Hummer) to be shut down as part of the bailout agreement. Pontiac would still be making fantastic vehicles if GM had not mismanaged it’s financials.
..I have an 06 solstice I bought in 08 as 2nd owner...now with 41k miles..cool lil car in red..automatic trans...cheap to keep...lol...just thinking about getting anther one after reading these comments!!!!..lol..but great lil car..nor a daily driver for me in vegas.

I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. As you may have seen in my videos that my intention is to showcase not only the beautiful car and really give the owner of the car (the caretaker as Jay Leno rightly says) the opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.
Exactly like mine, but it is gun metal grey with same interior. 54,000 miles and immaculate.
Ronald, I have actually seen the grey version and it is truly stunning. It shows the lines of the car so well. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it.

Great car and a true shame it was discontinued.
No kidding
This car checks off so many boxes and its shame they killed this car and the Saturn off.. Just like the Fiero.
So true
Such an awesome car. Gm should have not discontinued this car as well as the saturn sky. Big mistake by gm.
I agree with you
Just another great example of a Pontiac Failure in not recognizing how cool this car really is and not continuously building wonderful cars like this one.
Well said!
SO TRUE! Ive said the same damn thing. If you really think hard about it Pontiac is really the only American Car Company that has made a lineup throughout the ages of some very peculiar however special and unique cars.
I agree. Poor company decision. But that make our cars so much more rare.
Eric, the Soltice is truly a gem and the car always turns heads. Pontiac made something really special with this car and I envy you driving her more or less year round in the southwest climate. Sadly most of us in Canada have already started to find storage locations for our cars.

After owning two Miatas (1992 and 2002), I have a low-mile 2006 Solstice. It handles and looks WAYYYYY better than either Miata.
Ted, I would agree with you. The Soltice is such a fun and exciting car and certainly stands out still when parked or moving. Nice car. At 22:25, what is a "kazoo"? Seems to be a musical instrument?
Lol… yes you are right it is an instrument.. however in this case it’s saying “coming out of my backside “😊😊😊
There is a way to get in and out without a problem! Swivel your legs out then stand up to get out or sit sideways in the seat and swivel your legs in to get in!😂😂😂
Masterchief, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. I love your suggestion and tried it in my MG too. It works so well and with less strain on our aging bavks and knees. 😊
Works pretty good doesn’t it! And right on the nose because it’s my back and knees that got me doing it that way! Lol!
They coming back 2024 saturn sky maybe they will be back to
Darryl, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos are not to be "how to" videos (I think there are amazing videos made by others far qualified than me) instead my focus is to create a platform where "ordinary" people who love cars get an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. That's fantastic.. I can't wait to see it.. And hopefully a video too. Kevin
Nice
You should not shut the hood with the doors open bad things can happen
Woody, I’m curious as to what can happen. Is the frame somehow off balance when that happens.? I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it.

@@ClassicCarChitChat The hood can make contact with the doors
The only ugly thing is the gray overlay around the windshield
Cotter, I wonder if there were other colour combinations available?
