Thank you for this! This was like my mom's childhood in Minneapolis from age 3 to 13 during the Depression...she lived on 29th Ave. S. near E. 27th St. What a lovely sweet lady telling of her past here. Janet Decker reminds me a bit of my mom who died in late 2006. 😢 I wonder if my mom knew her. ❤️

I remember always going to uptown and downtown Mpls. alone in the late 60s and early 70s as a teenager and being safe.
Watching this I see many things looked the same in the 70’s but at the same time so much changed in just 35 years! For instance the look of the cars and there being no more street cars change the general look of things Drastically. It’s funny how in such a Very short amount of time things can change so much. And of course Mpls now in 2022 is completely whole new deal.
It’s kind of sad. But at the same time it’s all perspective. Somebody of Indian dissent could say how much it changed from the late 1800s to 1930s with great nostalgia and sadness as well.
It’s overwhelming to think of how much It’s going to change in the next few decades.
I liked watching this very much. It was really fun to hear the joy and the fun of her youth in Mpls.

Today the sign (at 5:55) would read the exact opposite. People, as a whole, had far more integrity then than they do now.

Today the city is filled with somehow people we feel 'obligated' to take care of.. god I miss the old days tho I 'grew up here in the 90's when I was finally able to move here.
