  • Juniper Campground Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit
We spent a bit of time at the Juniper Campground at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the North Unit. In the information we received, we were told that the Juniper Campground is seldom full. It is 68 miles from the south unit, and most of that is on north on Hwy. 85.
There are no towns of any size anywhere near the Juniper Campground, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Many of the sites are pull through, but with a lot of those pull through sites, when you park your door will be facing the road. If you have small children or are traveling with pets, that may be a bit of a problem.
As of the 2023 season, all of the sites are first come. If the Juniper Campground should be full when you get here, there is a corps of engineers park close by. Also in the area is a National Grasslands campground.
The Juniper Campground has a dump station, something that isn't available in the South Unit. This campground also has a picnic area and a group site. The group site is the only site in 2023 that requires a reservation.
The fee for staying at the Juniper Campground is the same as the Cottonwood Campground in the South Unit. It is $14 per night or $7 a night if you have a senior pass.
This is a very quiet and relaxing campground. It is well worth a visit if you are looking for somewhere to stay in North Dakota.
