So basically you are setting everything on 0, but when you rotate to advance 10 degrees you pick the closest post for #1 spark plug and that’s what gives you 10 degrees advanced. I think this is how progression ignition shows how to do it as well and I didn’t get it until now. In a month from now I’m going to be breaking in a camshaft, I bought the DLC lifters in hopes of not having a failure. Thanks for the demonstration, awesome work.
Good info brother. Pure gold. I actually never knew at what point the pick up coil triggers to fire the plug. I always just set pointer on the balancer at 12-15deg btdc and drop the dizzy in to where it falls on that same post facing #1 cylinder. It usually reads around 10-12deg btdc with the light. I never stick a screw driver to line up the oil pump. I always just turn the engine. That zip the trick is the tits. Gonna try it next time👍
Interesting video. After dropping the distributor in just as you describe, I will set the timing with the light before adding fuel to the engine once I get what it needs to crank. Lock it down and done, one less the thing to do once it fires up.
I wondered why I seen so many people out there finger to feel for compression but duh thanks for saying that both valves would close I didn't put that together until this video😂

Excellent
@@hankclingingsmith8707 Thank you.
Can you do a video explaining the way you wire up the engine to make it start on a stand
