I completely agree with your take on this subject. Most Americans don't respect hard work and quality manufacturing. They want everyone in the U.S. to be paid $100K a year, but when a product is $20 more than the cheap competitor, they whine and buy the cheap one. It's a throw-away world these days. I'm hoping we can still steer the ship back around, but this loss is going to hurt.

i agree. we live in a consumer market and people have prioritized quantity over quality. 7 crappy T.V.'s instead of 2 big, nice ones.
also, delayed gratification is all but dead.
what's funny is that these same people will be complaining in 10 years that their car is always in the shop, instead of researching what's still quality and taking care of routine maintenance.

I don't think the news of these or advertising of what they were (including made in the original Nebraska location where the Petersen vice grip had been made) got out enough to the tool using and collecting public
apparently these are good enough that Snap On judged them good enough to replace the previous premium European made "vicegrip" style pliers they were selling from their trucks

The Milwaukee grips have a soft tension screw. I'm glad I bought 4 pair of Eagle Grips. I'm a Sheetmetal worker of 27 years and have a bunch of malco tools. They were a lifetime purchase. Only regret is I didn't buy 8.

Yes they are. And I purchased both sizes. Happy I did and it’s a huge shame.

I fixed my little Craftsman set the other day. The rivet blew out and I replaced it with a small brad nail.

Down to $35 on Amazon this weekend. Nov. 10 2024 (Their production must have been INSANE, and *that's* why they shut it down... They're still selling them 2 years after close-down! "How many can we sell at a profit?")

Hi Scott- It’s so funny last week I also addressed this topic after seeing CP the tool Addict post the news. My video on this airs tomorrow. Great stuff!!! 😃👍

The Malcos were too expensive. Made in USA has to be competitive.

No doubt they were pricey. The old saying holds true: “You get what you pay for”. They were FAR superior to all others.

@@scottstoolthoughts3190 I wouldn't have the Vise Grip collection I do if Vise Grips cost that much. Which would be a bummer. When you weld locking pliers are consumables too.

Just got my order of Malcos. Really sad to see them go but very glad to get my hands on a few before they disappear. Thanks for the video

I have at least 20 of the different size malco eagle grips. I try my best to support 🇺🇸 manufacturing. I guess people just don't appreciate quality anymore. At least snap on bought the tooling and they will keep manufacturing them. If you want some malco's at a reasonable price, several places still have them in stock.

Anyone who wants these, the best place to find them is a heating and cooling supply house.

I have a vintage pair of 7WR Peterson grips I’ve had them for over 20 years I bought them used and they have held up great when Irwin bought out Peterson they went complete dog shit the malco is the same vintage Peterson quality I’ve been told just with a high polish finish spend 50 once is cheaper than spending 20 dollars several times during one’s lifetime if only people would see it that way uhg you officially have a new subscriber here before I forget HJE might still be selling malco eagle grips they are 50 miles from me I’ll have to get down there sometime they have a butt load of tools and a pretty good website to order from I hear

Just received my 7" curved jaws and their absolute garbage I can fit a dime in the slop of the bottom handle connecting to the lower jaw no wonder they went out of business. Pliers for $60 should have a pristine fit and finish. It was worth the try because of how many good things I hear about these but they must have went downhill towards the end
