- In today's video I'm making a concrete Bird bath to go in the garden, I'm casting the Bird bath from concrete using plastic plant drip trays and a flower pot. I'll take you through the whole process step-by-step.
Make your own DIY concrete Bird Bath for the birds in your garden.
This is a new circular design. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
This is exactly the style of bird bath I have been wanting to buy, and I've already got a bag of cement, so now just need to find a couple of trays with that nice rounded shape. I haven't seen any exactly like yours before.
Took forever to find a simple how-too bird bath. Thanks so much for sharing. This is awesome.
Finally simple practical easy and durable bird bath!
Looks great! I'm going to try this! Thank you!
Nice job. I’ve made similar pieces using cement, perlite and peat, a mixture called hypertufa which is much lighter than 100% cement. I’ve made bird baths and planters, a couple have lasted 20+/- years.
Ive been debating between hypertufa and cement for a birdbath. Leaning to cement due to porosity and water evaporation. Do you think it makes a difference? Im completely new to this so id love your opinion!
You could use some pvc pipe in the middle of the base to make it lighter and save concrete if ya wanted
Great idea, thank you.
Great bird bath video presentation. Would love to see a short video about your property and all the outdoor nature gadgets I see in the background, feeders, mason bee hive?, and the chickens. It all looks intriguing, and you have really good video skills. Thanks.
Love this video! First time viewer, you make it seem doable! First time I have felt confidence to really try a project. Your voice is great, you don't hurry, you don't chat a lot and you don't film a long continuous process. Thank you so much. I will return.
Great bird bath diy tutorial👏Easy to follow instructions.
Excellant demonstration
Thank you and
God Bless you.
Thank you! Yes very simple and great video! Hello from my homestead in northwest Florida USA.
This is great. Exactly what I need. Easy and quick. Thx
Thank you for this! I will make a birdbath this week. You explain exactly what is needed and everything is so easy to understand. Thank you.
Great video! Liked and subscribed. I'd copy your work and maybe add some wire screens I have lying around to add to the strength of the basin. Thanks sir!
There are so lovely and I like the lower profile.
I’ve been looking for a perfect bird bath Thank you for sharing I love both but round would be easier for me to do. I can’t wait to make this. 🙏
Love the extended plate type bird bath, makes it easy to clean and rinse off! Great work! 🤩
Great job.instead of using adatives I just cement wash afterwards.fills all holes and excellent sealer.dries fantastic colour.great also for moss growth.great video.
Well done. Love your bird baths. Thanks for sharing.

the bubbles looked actually quite good, It reminded me looking at the surface of the Moon with all his craters, also when it has been used for some time and moss grows on it, it looks more authentic, overall good explained and nice job, thanks 🐦🐦🐦

Thanks Valorie, I hope yours turns out great 😊
Both beautiful
Thank you 😊
Apreciado amigo, me encantó..! Muy sencillo y muy bien explicado.! Amo los pájaros, las abejasy todo bichito q necesite un poco de agua.! Muchas gracias..! Desde Argentina , un gran saludo..!!🤗🤗❤❤
That's great! Thanks. Pre-made bird baths are expensive, so I'll try it with some leftover concrete. Yours look great, but if you want a smoother finish, I bet you could mix up a batch of concrete and smooth it on even after for a finish coat? 🙂
Blessings. Paul
I love the round shape No sharp corners
Just need to mosaic now!!
My thought, too!
Nice work Kit!👍I do prefer the round baths aswell matey. I suppose you could wait for it to go off a little and inscribe some words or patterns around the rim of the bath. I'm gonna give this a bash I reckon buddy.👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks mate, great idea actually thanks, will give it a go myself next time. Hope it goes well
Great!
Must be so satisfying to make something like this...Id paint it as well 😊

It certainly is, good idea thanks Maureen
You have to be careful what paint you use. It has to be safe for the birds
@@LadyLuck13 Of course!
@@maureen6710 if you watch a lot of these kinds of videos making concrete bird baths, particularly ones from overseas, you'll see a lot don't care what paint they use. Glad we have the commonsense to know better
Love this! Can't wait to do this... I've watched several DIY's concrete bird baths and this is my favorite. Lots of great detail/demonstrations... I greatly appreciate your concern and demo of how to use environmental friendly products. I've seen others use left over plastic sheeting of some kind instead of veg oil... have you tried this? Also love how you didn't paint nor seal the final product. One last question - how long do you have to wait for it to cure before it can hold water? Thanks again - a fan in Texas.
Thank you, 48HRS as soon as it has set it will hold water.
Hi there like your video can you recommend concrete mix for a lamp base please?
Great video. Good explanation. I had a question though...is it possible to add color? Paint after or add into the mix before, perhaps?
If you add colored iron oxide to the mix it will have color all the way through. Can get iron oxide on the internet.
I vote roundy.
What about something to use for a mould for a taller base? A tall traffic cone was my 1st thought, but it's too small at the top to balance the bath portion. If you could fill the very top with something so the the concrete doesn't go to the smallest section at the top, maybe? IDK, just thinking of what I can use for taller moulds for base. I'm sure someone will figure out a taller mould.
I’ve thought about this a lot, I’ve seen big tall plant pots that I think would work and also you could make something using plywood or sheet plastic.
Great work. Please do use gloves to protect those smart hands. Super!!!
Thank you and I will do 😊🌱🌱
@@davebryant8050 Thanks for assurance Dave. Great to hear your comforting assurance. I also think you're right that the media has its own agenda.
@@GrowWithKit Cool.
Oh man, I bet your hands were burning afterwards from the concrete.
My uncle was a master mason, mixed a lot of mud in his time. He recalls a time someone on the worksite was working with their feet in the concrete w/o proper footwear (something like tall rubber boots I imagine), and by the time they noticed something was wrong, they got to kiss all their skin from the ankles down goodbye.
Portland cement is caustic stuff!
Kit I have a question, here in Calgary Canada we get Portland cement. It’s a fine substandard great for such projects. Unfortunately we only have 40kg bags. Can you suggest a best way to store unused cement?
Hi, Ours comes in 20kg bags, I’ve just put mine in a shopping bag and in the shed 😂 had it 2 yrs it’s a bit lumpy but fine.
I’ve always kept cement in old plastic tubs that have sealable lids, the sort you get with dry fertiliser in, 😊

I'm disabled so even small bags are difficult to move around. I've just bought a heavy duty plastic storage box on wheels and it's a great help for moving but is also waterproof so keeps everything from "going off".
@@GrowWithKit I tried that but my hut leaked and I ended up with basically a bag of hard concrete. 😩😅
Is there any way to make the base hollow? Just so I can lift it on my own.
Anyway you can think off will be fine, someone suggested using an empty bottle, you could also use some gutter pipe, people even add polystyrene to make it lighter.
Ya make taller ones?
Would you mind sharing the approximate dimensions of the trays used for this planter?
48cm & 38cm
Can you paint concrete ?
You can. Ask for masonry paint. You can also add colorant for cement during mixing, or there are products for staining concrete. I think your stains can be almost any color. Unlike color additives while mixing. Paint sits on top of the surface, but stain penetrates the surface. I hope this helps.
Yes you can, just make sure you clean all the dust and residue off and let it fully dry. It doesn’t have to be masonry paint but it is the best. I’ve used fence paint and various spray paints, all seem fine on the concrete.
Wow perfect i absolutely love that
Thank you 😊
great job. though if you want to save on the crete, make a roll of cardboard to hallow out the bucket mold.
