I agree with everyone else, this is very cool! I think most of the "diy birdbaths" are quite boring and they look the same. Your design is modern yet classic, sleek and simple. I love it.
love the simple classic look ! definitely will try the same. i see from other bird bath creators that one should have the final product submerged in water for at least a week to allow the toxic elements of cement to leach out before using it for animals...
A large oak tree limb fell from a tree in my backyard and destroyed my 25 year old concrete bird bath. That turned out great my brother! I like some air bubbles. Gives it character. I want to give this a go. Thanks for the video. Chickens and all!
Good job ! Ive' been doing this for years, I use cheap cooking oil for the 'release' Like to keep on a level surface and i found that putting a couple of house bricks in the insert helps to keep the parts 'stable.
That came out absolutely beautiful! It is perfect! I can't wait to try it. I'll be so pleased if mine comes out half as well. Thank you so much for the video.
I love your idea for this birdbath. It’s perfect for water, or like you said even birdseed. This is my weekend project this coming weekend. Thank you so much for this brilliant idea!
This is absolutely perfect! I love how you explained everything and it doesn't seem so intimidating. Anyone can do it. My Dad taught me to tap the sides to release air bubbles. Air bubbles don't bother me a bit. Just proves I made it myself. Thank you so much!! Big fan from Washington State, USA 🇺🇸
Boy, the finishing really made a difference. Love this. I’m going to try to make this shallow one with a spray fountain for humming birds. Thank you! Perfect!
hahaha, love the cute chicken. I ll definitely make one for my birdies in the garden, the bought ones are so expensive and my dried-mealworm-spoilt blackbirds are so territorial that i need SEVERAL bird baths in my garden so each male has his own....
This is a great idea! These are simple and look really nice and you can make them affordably. Thank you so much for sharing this. I live in Idaho and I think concrete is the way to go. I'll be making this.
Thank you for an easy to follow video, it gave me some ideas. I'm not sure about using any types of lubricants for the inside as birds and other wild life will be drinking water from it but... I think I'll put a glass tray to make the inside "bath" part and just leave it in the concrete for the finished product instead of taking it out. Hopefully that'll work as the inside of the bird bath. Thanks again! :)
Great job mate. Best way to remove air bubbles is to use an orbital sander with no sand paper , simply put the vibrating orbital sanded on the sides of the mould 👍
Very cool technique. I've had good luck with vegetable oil for a mold release. I'm going to The Dollar store tomorrow and get some of those trays. Thanks for sharing the process.
hey mate thank u so much for WD40 idea. i try to make something like this with pot and i was worry how to prevent it from sticking plastic to cement .. thanks
Really liked these bird baths. I was only talking to my father in law at the weekend saying we wanted to get a decent bird bath. Going to make one for me and one for him in the next few weeks. I really like the finished project. Thanks for sharing.
This is wonderful! Could you use ready mix cement? Also, would there be a way to make the bottom a little rougher? It seems like my birds don’t like a slippery bottom. I have a cement bird bath with ridges and it is their favorite.
Hi, yes you can use ready mix concrete I have used it myself with ok results. If you take the top tray out before it’s fully set you can rough up the concrete with a scraper I’ve also done this. Hope that helps and thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Awe awe love those chickens. I was a farm girl long time ago and raised some chickens. Boy those brown eggs are the best as they have rooster love in it.
Thanks Dave, I recommend you use vegetable oil and not WD40 as so many people have pointed out to me 😂. I’ve also made some bonsai pots . and a circular bird bath that I’ll do a video on soon. All the best
Love it! I was just looking at some....boy are they pricey! I have well water too, so I hate to buy something fancy and ruin it with the hard water buildup. Concrete will be a great option....now I just have to find some plastic containers 😃👍
I made this after watching the video. I found wash basins and a pail at Walmart that worked perfectly. I sealed it with concrete sealer made by the gorilla glue people. I just counted five robins using the bath within one hour. We also have doves and squirrels drinking the water too. Thank you so much for making this video!!!!!
brilliant, how many kg bag did you use ? and iv'e been thinking of a making an attachment to fasten the top to the base .. maybe metal rod . not sure yet ... great video
Sounds like a good idea, I’ve found them to be pretty stable due to the weight but some sort of recess or rod should work great. I think it was about 1/3 of a 20kg bag of cement and about twice that of sand.
Thanks for that. Really simple. Do you ever seal the bath so it doesn’t get mouldy and is easier to clean? I have crows dropping bits of bread in the water and even though I remove it as soon as I see it, over time the concrete gets a red mould that seems to permeate it and I can’t get rid of it. I’ve seen videos where people use liquid rubber to seal ponds and pots.
Thank you. I have used pva glue diluted 10:1 seems to work well. I now have a admixture that rubberises, seals and frost proofs, you add it to the water before you mix.
I have a pedestal with a hold in it. Do you think that if I fill part of the opening that goes the full length of the pedestal, I could make a. Bird bath using two different sized plastic saucers you put under planters, cut a hole in the large one and let some of the concrete flow into the hole, then fill the top saucer with more concrete and insert a smaller saucer inside the larger saucer and push it down to create the de th of basin I want, wait till it dries and remove the top saucer sprayed with WD40 and then cut away the bottom saucer?
Does the bird bath balance and not tip over, or can you put some cement on the base to help attach the top? I enjoyed your video! …. Especially the chicken drinking the water!
Kit, I think your chickens were letting you know it makes a great chicken watering station too.🙂 Hint, hint. 😄 That's a really nice birdbath/birdfeeder! It would look great in any garden!🐦
I agree with everyone else, this is very cool! I think most of the "diy birdbaths" are quite boring and they look the same. Your design is modern yet classic, sleek and simple. I love it.
Thank you! 😊
Perfect! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I wanna try making one to use as a ground feeder too. Thx!! The video is excellent!
That’s great, I’m sure they’ll turn out fantastic.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Excellent! Love the design, the simplicity, the execution, and your low-key manner. Well done.
love the simple classic look ! definitely will try the same. i see from other bird bath creators that one should have the final product submerged in water for at least a week to allow the toxic elements of cement to leach out before using it for animals...

Couldn't find a birdbath in the size I wanted, so this will be perfect and a whole lot cheaper. Thank you for this excellent tutorial!
Thank you 😊
Thanks for such a great tutorial. The thirsty feathered friends was an unexpected bonus, cute.
Thanks 😊
Love it. Fits in perfect with my zen themed yard
Thanks so much for this! My fiance and I followed step by step and it came out wonderful. I sculpt so I even added some designs to the concrete!
Thank you 😊 that’s great to hear 🌱🌱😊🌱🌱
If you want to age it more quickly. Paint it with a coating of yogurt, and let nature and the weather take its course.
That came out absolutely beautiful! It is perfect! I can't wait to try it. I'll be so pleased if mine comes out half as well. Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you, good luck with yours, I hope it turns out great.
🌱🌱🙂🌱🌱
I love your idea for this birdbath. It’s perfect for water, or like you said even birdseed. This is my weekend project this coming weekend. Thank you so much for this brilliant idea!
Thank you! That’s exactly what I was looking for. You’re a great teacher. Stay safe, the world needs you!
Thank you, that’s great to hear.
All the best

Thanks mate, yeah tapping does help and I don’t mind a few air bubbles either, adds character. Thanks for watching 😊
Very nicely done. You ended up with a beautiful product. I enjoyed it.
I really love how this looks, it has a very classic but old-fashioned look. So east, hopefully because I am going to try it!
I love that you shared this video on making your own bird bath. Many thanks! I will definitely try this!
Thanks, I’ve got some new designs now 😊
Boy, the finishing really made a difference. Love this. I’m going to try to make this shallow one with a spray fountain for humming birds. Thank you! Perfect!

LOOKS FANTASTIC. Also love the rooster crowing in the background.

Brilliant video, and excellent for teaching children about wildlife and caring for it.
Thank you 😊
Very nice. I was considering buying a birdbath but I think I'll make one of these. Thanks for posting the video.

Thanks 😊
That is a lovely bird bath. Thanks so much for the clear instructions.
Thanks 😊 and thanks for watching and commenting.
Love the video. No tools needed and easy to follow. Great job on the birdbath/feeder. I'm going to make a couple myself.
That’s great thank you 😊 I hope yours turn out well.
The bird bath/feeder came out great awesome job 👍🤙💪🌱🌳✌️
Thanks mate
Very attractive bird baths and terrific instructions - on the hunt for molds and hope mine turn out as beautifully as yours.
Thank you, good luck with yours.
🌱🌱😊🌱🌱
I think that I could even do this. Thank you! From California.
hahaha, love the cute chicken. I ll definitely make one for my birdies in the garden, the bought ones are so expensive and my dried-mealworm-spoilt blackbirds are so territorial that i need SEVERAL bird baths in my garden so each male has his own....

I love it! Good video! Hello to you and your family (chickens included) from my little homestead in northwest Florida, USA.
Best one I've seen so far for looks and ease of making! ❤
Thank you 😊
This is a great idea! These are simple and look really nice and you can make them affordably. Thank you so much for sharing this. I live in Idaho and I think concrete is the way to go. I'll be making this.

Thank you, I now use vegetable oil as a mould release, works much better and not harmful.
Your idea sounds good, good luck.
Great job mate. Best way to remove air bubbles is to use an orbital sander with no sand paper , simply put the vibrating orbital sanded on the sides of the mould 👍
Thanks mate, great tip I’ll give it a go next time 😊
I love it. I’m getting ready to make a bird bath. Great tutorial!
That’s great thank you for watching and commenting.
I enjoyed your video. Love the
Rectangle shape better than round. Am going to try this as soon as it warms up a bit. Thank you
Thank you, that’s great 😃 good luck with your birdbath.
Very cool technique. I've had good luck with vegetable oil for a mold release. I'm going to The Dollar store tomorrow and get some of those trays. Thanks for sharing the process.
Thank you, yes vegetable is what I use now, good luck hope yours turns out great.
Great explanation! Very useful for me who did not make things with ciment. Thank you.
Thanks 😊
Well, I tried your technique, yesterday. I'm going to wait one more day. Wish me luck❤️
Let us know how it turned out.
Good luck I hope it turned out great, thanks for watching and commenting 😊

The wind got up terrible tonight in SW Scotland 🙀🙀 Great bird bath 😻👍
Thanks, it was really windy here in mid Wales last night too.
Really great, the birds love shallow baths. I tried to get one like that from a garden centre. Oh if only I could buy your one I would.
Thanks, if your close to Mid Wales I’ll make you one.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
🌱🌱🙂🌱🌱
I’m near Newtown, about 1.5hrs from you.
Love the chickens best ..Like the idea but concrete reminds me of when I did my path for the car to stand on.The birds gave their approval👍
Nice ! Thanks for posting. Does the top just sit on the base without attachment?
Thank you, yes it does, the weight of it makes it sit very stable.
Very clever and easy, thanks for that!
Simple ideas to give big inspiration!
i really love this. very clever. thank you
Thanks 😊
Very, very nice job. That is going to be my next project. And I love the Chickens, totally adorable. Thank you from Florida. 👍🐓🐦

Awe awe love those chickens. I was a farm girl long time ago and raised some chickens. Boy those brown eggs are the best as they have rooster love in it.
That’s great thank you for watching and commenting 😊
Great video!. Gave me lots of ideas and confidence. I guess the amount of water depends on exact type os sand etc? Thnx a lot.
Thank you, Yes I’m sure it varies, I just mix it in slowly until I get the desired consistency.
Glad you found it helpful
Thank for commenting
Brilliant idea definitely going to have a go at making one all the best from Dave in Borehamwood great video 👍
Thanks Dave, I recommend you use vegetable oil and not WD40 as so many people have pointed out to me 😂. I’ve also made some bonsai pots . and a circular bird bath that I’ll do a video on soon.
All the best
Both of them look perfect to me .
Thank you 😊
I like the way you explain step-by-step thank you
Thank you
Very simple, perfect design.
Thank you 😊
Your chickens getting a drink. Cute
Love it! I was just looking at some....boy are they pricey! I have well water too, so I hate to buy something fancy and ruin it with the hard water buildup. Concrete will be a great option....now I just have to find some plastic containers 😃👍
Thanks, I suggest looking in discount store, pound/dollar shops or garden Centres for the small waste bins & cat litter trays or plant pot trays.
Great job! Think I'm going to give it a try.
good job, you can also get coloured powder dyes to add to the mix or lime powder to make it white
Thanks, I’ll have to check that out. 🌱🌱🙂🌱🌱
Corvids are attracted to darker colors
Thank you! I really like this clean basic design and I’m looking forward to making one myself.
Thanks, hope yours turns out great.
Love the look, love the price, and I can make a few
I have been wanting to make a bird bath. This looks easy enough to do and a nice simple look. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻🥰

Same here. Exactly what I want. Thanks.
Nice job Kit it looks great!
Thanks Gareth 😀
Thanks for that. Really simple.

Thank you. I have used pva glue diluted 10:1 seems to work well. I now have a admixture that rubberises, seals and frost proofs, you add it to the water before you mix.
They drop their food in there to get soft, don't remove it!
@@GrowWithKit Do you have a link to the additive that rubberises and seals please.
Subbed and liked. Thank you for your time and efforts. I appreciate it. Have a wonderful new year, Kind regards, Chris.
That’s great thanks Chris for watching and for your kind comment. You too have a great new year.
😊😊
Just the inspiration I needed! Thank you
Thank you 😊
Nice one. Project for next week. Thanks 👍
Thanks David, hope it turns out great.

Very nice video. Do you need to seal the concrete so it doesn't leach water through it?
Thanks, I don’t seal them, I find they hold water very well. If you want you can seal them with pva or get something to add to the mixture.
Kit, I think your chickens were letting you know it makes a great chicken watering station too.🙂 Hint, hint. 😄 That's a really nice birdbath/birdfeeder! It would look great in any garden!🐦
I think so too 😂 they always drink from them now. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Really awesome....so nice and smooth!
Thank you 😃
