    As a Dalit and a Sri Vaishnava I can say that there is not a single pasaage in the entire vedic literature which links Varna ( caste is a very crude translation ) to birth , with time it mutated into a wrong practice of rigid birth based varnas but now people are realizing that its not what the sages teach . The Varna system was a fluid social system where an individuals character and deed determined his/her varna . We have sages like Satyakam , Valmiki , Vyas ( the compiler of the Vedas) , Vishvamitra and others who became Brahmins but were not born to Brahmin parents.

      There is one major thing that Hinduism does not provide, that is identity...
      Your name is Olive Juice online but it is not your real name. You change forms from one to another due to reincarnation. Your name will also change when you are in a different form, meaning your real name isn't your real name either.
      The only thing you can know about yourself is that you are a consciousness, but you don't know who you are... This is a major problem with Hinduism.
      Christianity tells you exactly who you are. You are a daughter of God, a princess, you are loved. Jesus died for you, and you were worth it. We are kings and priests unto our God. We are the body of Christ. We are made one spirit with Jesus and joined together with him. We are forgiven and set free. We are set apart and are not of this world. We are sanctified and made holy. We are born again. God has raised us up and made us to sit with him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
      In Christ, we can know who we are.
      In Hinduism, we cannot know who we are, and therefore we can never reach enlightenment...

    What makes Hinduism unique and great?
    Since Hinduism allows “Absolute freedom of thoughts & actions” and does not profess monopoly on God, truth or salvation.
    Even an atheist has the right to condemn Hinduism in the public and still proudly say "I am a Hindu."
    ________________________________________
    * Hindus respect all religions.
    + Hindus have no problem worshiping even in a church or mosque or in a synagogue.
    * Hindus see their personal God in the personal gods of all other religions.
    * Hinduism never ever proclaim monopoly on GOD or on TRUTH or on Salvation.
    * You do not even have to be a Hindu to attain salvation.
    * Rishis were scientists of ancient age. They even allowed people to condemn Hinduism in public. No Hindu was beaten up or killed.

Christians in India are worst ever satan's as they profess haterness instead of Love. Hinduism welcomes you too.. In 21st century there is no Caste system. Even Swami Vivekandha say pray the God as per your religion and be true to yourself. Such a good and open minded ideas would flow only from spiritually heightened people. So Winifred Jacob Hinduism open heartily welcomes you.

    JUST a small correction. The caste system has no religious basis. you will not find any Hindu scriptures which supports Caste system. It was originally introduced as a SOCIAL STRUCTURE rather than a RELIGIOUS BELIEF. Much like the Movie DIVERGENT the society was grouped into four classes based on persons skills or their profession i.e. Brahmins (priests), Kshyatriyas(Administrators), Vaishyas(Traders), Shudras(labourers). As the generations passed, because of increasing corruption the priests and administrators considered themselves superior to the other two classes. I am saying all this because The caste system has never been a RELIGIOUS BELIEF it was a SOCIAL STRUCTURE introduced in the ancient times which became a corrupt practice later on after many generations.!!!

      Insofar as the Rig Veda (c. 1200 B.C.E) is a religious text, the caste system has a religious basis. Considering that the varna is first mentioned here, specifically, in the tenth book of the Rig Veda known as the Purusha Sukta it seems like claiming it has a religious basis is warranted. Also, social structures often times fall within religious belief therefore it is unclear as to what the claim you posit even means. Often times, the social and cultural are inseparable from the religious.

However in this modern age our ways have changed a lot , even from our parent's generation , although the roots are same but the belief system etc are nothing but infused in our way of life , which is the hindu way . We dont worship frequently in the temples , we dont chant mantras and all , we just abide by the simple concept of Karma & Dharma in our daily life . Namaste (नमस्ते)

      Many Hindus do still go to temple often, chant mantras, do asuna yoga, etc, etc. Worship for Hindus can change from person to person and different areas use different practices more than other. Saying Hindus do not do these things is silly. I'm saying this as a Hindu who goes to temple, chants mantras, does dhyana, and more. I'm a Shivabhakta.

      The name Hindu is given by Persians..meaning the people of Indus river.. Indu people/ Hindu. There is no religion called Hinduism. There is a way of living in this part of the world and that is called by the rest as Hinduism. Most of the things you will find in internet are not true as our cultural theories had been manipulated by British(eg. Aryan Invasion) and other invaders. Most of the things we find related to it today in internet( as this guy read) about so called the religion Hinduism is shit and manipulated.

    Hinduism is an ocean where all rivers and seas meet. Its hard to say which river is in an ocean. Doesn't matter which religion you are following ,if are following your dharma properly you will realise god. Every one has their own interpretation of god which depends up on the river you take but every thing is truth which is hard to digest but its beautiful when understood.

    Very good presentation of Hinduism in less than 10 minutes to Western audience but Hinduism is a complex religion. It requires several hours or days to get a good picture of Hinduism. One of the major criticism about Hinduism is that it is polytheistic. It is true that Hindus worship many deities or various manifestation of God but the ultimate truth is
    Brahman, Brahman has no forms, qualities or limitations. Only Brahman exists and nothing else. The highest Hindu philosophical thought is Advaita Vedanta of Shankara, that is worth studying to get a concept of God. Of course Hinduism has other schools of philosophy that covers even atheism. Sankhya philosophy closely related to Patanjali's yoga sutra is atheistic. Hinduism covers everything from polytheism to monotheism to atheism (one god, no god or many gods). This is a fascinating religion. Other than the caste system there is nothing much you can criticize about the Hindu beliefs because the primary intention of the religion is to search for truth and there are many ways.

      Hindus believe in karma......When a hindu suffers or is blind, people offer help,well in that case the lame or blind should not be helped as it is karma and the person suffering is only paying the price for doing evil things in previous life....Then again hindus helping the person suffering are simply hindering the process of reincarnation as it is only his karma and they too will be punished in next life and will become shudras (low caste)again and it goes on and on.

    it's pretty interesting, because even though Hinduism is technically a Polytheistic religion, they still believe in the same concept as Christians do that there is one all powerful God who is also composed of separate beings. The holy trinity is pretty much the same thing as Brahman. This differs greatly from most polytheistic pagan religions which establish Gods as very distinct characters. I feel that Hinduism is a form of abstract spiritualism which focuses on the idea of a great creator as well as the many forms he/she has taken over the years.

    • @iain5615
      @iain5615 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interstellar Lapis & the CCCP false concept. As a hindu ypu can pray to other gods separately, because these extensions are separate independent Gods that come out of the universal spiritualism.
      Christians believe in one single divine being that is made of three personages with one single consciousness. As such Jesus thought only what the Father thought, etc.
      Interesting fact is that the Hebrew Torah talks of a compound God and not a single God and that God appears to the Jews as YHWH (the father), the Angel of YHWH who was granted the power to forgive (Jesus?) and as the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit?).

Spirituality is universal, theres no such thing as Hindu religion, hinduism was a word created by the British when they colonized India, and buddha came out of “hindu” spirituality, he didnt create a new religion, he only gave us another approach to what the Vedas already teach, its not a seperate religion but a branch if you will, the core teaching is the same, its our attatchments that causes suffering, there is a solution to suffering, and the cessation of attatchments and ignorance is liberation from samsara, its the same understanding. I would recommend reading on Vedanta which is the knowledge of the Vedas and reading on Buddhism and youll see they are not really different religions, its is One truth but the sages call it by various names.

      @@TagSpamCop lol if you think buddhism and Hinduism tells you things you want to hear that already tells me the surface level you have researched the actual teachings. The deeper you go the harder the blows are to your ego, no one wants to hear what the Vedas and Buddhism teach because we are comfortable living a life of sensual pleasures, lazyness, vices, selfishness, and not assuming total responsibility of our lives to ourselves. Again if you think hinduism is about caressing your ego and telling you things you want to hear, you’re in for a rude awakening, true understanding of the teachings of India means you know your ego will suffer when you take on the path and you must be prepared for that, very few go that deep, we like comforting lies, hinduism and buddhism doesnt care to comfort you with lies, its only aim is to free yourself from your bondage, no one is going to do it for you, you must change and do the effort. You are totally responsible for either your own misery or your own liberation, that alone is a truth most will never accept until they have suffered enough and finally seek the light.

      Hinduism is not a religion, its just a name given by persians. Hinduism is name given by persians based on sindhu river.Before that it was called as Santhana dharma, which was based on Jaina dharma. Only Jaina dharma can give complete liberation of a soul. Jainism is the oldest dharma in the world.Jainism is most peaceful religion than other religion in the world you can think, present past and future

      And to the claim "Islam is the most peaceful religion". Islam in what sense? Following the teachings of the Quran? If that's the case then I'd say it's certainly one of the least peaceful religions.. e.g. th-cam.com/video/ifypJPNZ-hI/w-d-xo.html

    Hey Keith, Hindu scriptures never mention Aryans as such, its a British interpretation to divide Indians.
    Also Righveda is the oldest book on Planet dating 3500 old from today.
    In India we had Genetic test and all ethnicity in India has same genes, either black, brown, curly haired, straight hair we all have same genes so the Aryan theory can be denied.
    Recent Scholars like Rajiv Malhotra and others have denied this Aryan thing.

For Eg.Mayan civilization(south America) build by Maya who is a Dhanava(clan) from south India who Build the Indraprasta palace in Mahabharata.Arya in Sanskrit means "Noble one".

Bec. many Hindu Gods are born in low cast also there have been low cast or low born rulers as well.

      I heard this is a website
      Casteist- Brahman came from mouth and Shudra came from leg at inception.
      Rational Hindu- If Brahman came from mouth and Shudra from leg then:
      1. Mouth produces saliva and remains dirty all the time. Leg, on the other hand is relatively purer, dry and odorless. So Shudras are purer than Brahmans.
      2. We, in Hindu tradition, touch feet of our mother and elders. But we never touch their mouth or saliva! Many a times, we keep our head in their feet. It means, Brahman must bow down to Shudra in respect.
      3. There is no proof of Brahman coming out from mouth and Shudra from leg. Every so-called Brahman possesses legs and not just head. Similarly every so-called Shudra possesses mouth and not just legs.
      4. At inception? From where? Whose mouth and legs did Brahman and Shudra come from?
      Casteist- I don’t have answers for 1,2 and 3. But we all came from Eeshvar’s head and legs.
      Rational Hindu- Ok, is Eeshvar pure?
      Casteist- Yes, absolutely.
      Rational Hindu- Is any of His body-parts impure or inferior to the other?
      Casteist- No no, he is uniformly pure and perfect.
      Rational Hindu- So if His complete body is perfectly pure and equal, how does someone get inferior to the other just because the two came from equally pure mouth and legs of Eeshvar? Isn’t it that we all humans are Brahmans and Shudras at the same time?
      Casteist- Don’t have the answer. I am defeated.
      Rational Hindu- No, if you realize truth and equality, you are victorious.
      The end.

      +Stephen Mark Bramhan from mouth and Shudra from leg all that is a part of example.
      A body of society is represented by a body of Purush or a Man.
      So mouth or brain becomes Bramhan, Hands become Kshtriyas or warriors, Stomach becomes Vaishyas or Traders and Legs become Shudras or hard workers or the most serving part of body which takes society from one height to another.
      We need to Understand Hinduism is more of symbolic and it is had been all about equality.

    Hinduism: "Ekam evadvitiyam"
    "He is One only without a second."
    [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1] "Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah."
    "Of Him there are neither parents nor lord."
    [Svetasvatara Upanishad 6:9] "Na tasya pratima asti"
    "There is no likeness of Him."
    [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19] The following verses from the Upanishad allude to the inability of man to imagine God in a particular form: "Na samdrse tisthati rupam asya, na caksusa pasyati kas canainam. ""His form is not to be seen; no one sees Him with the eye."
    [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:20] So Idol worship is not in the Hindu Holy books. Idol worship was created by People. Therefore Idol worship is not Hinduism.

      There is no initiation so to speak, it's kinda like if you don't believe in a god you can call yourself an Atheist, etc. There really isn't one religion or institution called Hinduism it is more of an umbrella term which encompasses many different tribal and ancient religions many of which emerged independently of one another but over time they agreed on some basic principles like karma, etc. Hinduism is kind of a culture/way of life as well ... many Indians share commonalities because of empires which ruled and unified cultures, etc. But at the same time they speak their own languages which can be mutually unintelligible. So you kind of have to be part of an ethnic community (one of thousands) who live their lifestyle according to set traditions. You could always marry into one though

    • @melodicnostalgic3823
      @melodicnostalgic3823 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      By following the 4 Core Principles of Hinduism : -Dharma, Kama, Artha, Moksha.
      1> Dharma -> Righteousness.
      Uphold the best principles of an Ideal person and support the Righteous and Truthful, Even if you have to go to war against your own siblings to defend the truth. Defend the Truth and the Truth shall defend you !
      2> Kama -> Sexuality.
      Enjoy your Sexuality, If you are Straight enjoy being straight, If you are Gay enjoy being Gay, If you like orgies enjoy orgies with many women (Kama-Sutra or the "Guide to Sexuality" was written by a Hindu Sage, It even described orgies with multiple women (With their consent of course). Enjoy your Sexual life to the fullest way possible !!!
      3> Artha -> Meaning
      Find a meaning in your life, Devote your Life to a Purpose and accomplish this and never give up even if you die for it !!! It doesn't have to be something great, Just follow your Passion and work towards it.
      4> Moksha -> Awakening
      Seek the Meaning of Life and World around you (Everyone have their own way of doing this, Like Buddha who left the comfort of his palace and went to Meditate to understate the ways of life and how he could help others). If you seek Spirituality from some other religion, thats fine too, Hinduism is the only religion that promotes worshiping ANY Gods or none at all.
      These are the only 4 Requirements of being a Hindu mentioned in Vedas. You don't even have to worship Hindu Gods to be a Hindu, You can be an Atheist or Christian or Muslim and still be a Good Hindu by following the above. But the most important among all the above is First Principal - Upholding Dharma (A Righteous way of Living ones life, Which means to live honestly, help others, Do Good to others and care about others, Not just humans but also animals).

    As someone who has studied vedas and has some low caste ancestry, caste is not part of Hinduism! Even muslims and christians practiced the caste system in India. Why do some westerners blame Hinduism for caste oppression? Do they not know their own history? Before industrial revolution, the west had the same system, in which nobles oppressed peasants. Blacks in America suffered centuries of slavery and oppression like the outcastes of India. Was that because of Christianity? No! All over the world people with power have sometimes abused it, regardless of religious beliefs. Fortunately, with increased access to education caste system is dying, and virtually nonexistent in urban areas of India. Caste system is illegal in India, a mostly Hindu country. No society has been free from oppression and racial discrimination.

Hinduism is name given by persians based on sindhu river.Before that it was called as Santhana dharma, which was based on Jaina dharma. Only Jaina dharma can give complete liberation of a soul. Jainism is the oldest dharma in the world.

    First of all, I am a Hindu as well, but many things the hindus claim I find them stupid.
    Caste system is indeed mentioned in Hindu scriptures. It's mentioned in rigveda, yajurveda, manu smriti, brahma sutra are you saying none of these are Hindu scriptures?
    Aryan invasion is not a myth it's the fact, majority of the historians still agrees with it. Also Hindu scriptures are not scientific. Sure they say there are nine planets, but there are only eight right now, also they count sun and moon as planets. And it doesn't say anywhere earth is spherical.
    To prove vedas are sacred, we don't need to squeeze science into it. Nor do we need it to show Hinduism is unique. Caste system is an issue in India that needs to be fixed. First step towards fixing a problem is accepting there's a problem.

      Ashwin Ms can you give links or references in the Vedas?
      Note: Caste and Varna system are different.

      You're mixing up the concept of Varnas and castes. The caste system did not exist until a few centuries ago. Also, each Varna or your supposed caste is of equal importance according to the Gita, as without any of the 4 castes society will collapse. Also, hindu scriptures are not science text books, Ancient India was at the forefront in Sciences thanks to scholars and scientists, not religion. The fact that the state and the religion encouraged freedom of thought and belief however may have played an important role in forwarding sciences.

      I can pretty much say either you are not hindu or you did not read vedas. Caste system is no where mentiined in vedas. Caste system came with British. Khastriya, shudra etc in described scripures are occupations. One can go from one occupation to other. It is not by birth, it is by occupation one does. I can be shudra one day and go and join army and become khastriya. Brahmina just means intellect. Around british era it is made into a caste.

      Manusmriti does mention varna's, not castes. And the Vedas mention neither. Castes is a very recent term compared to varnas.

      "It doesn't say anywhere earth is spherical"!!! Really? What is the word for geography in most Indian languages? As far as i know its "boo-gol". Boo for bhumi, gol is sphere.

    Hinduism is the science of your being. It is study of human, from the bottom to its ultimate. Hinduism...is about your existemcial self. It si not about religion...it is about every single peice of life out thier and its secret. Hinduism explore ourself not through a book or a profet. But through your own inner exploration. Yoga, the science of knowing yourself above any belief system.

    We are human. The most intelligences. We should find actually who we are actually and why we are suffering here. We should find ourselves through Hinduism.

      You feel the need to impose your Jesus on everyone? This is why Hinduism should never be taught to close minded folks. Keep your beliefs to yourself and don't try to learn about Hinduism.

    The term closest to explaining Hinduism's concept of 1 Universal Devine Soul Being/ Soul is embodied in Dvaita philosophy as one with innumerable attributes and one beyond all attributes as well.
