This is exactly the right way to clean and service the unit. This will ensure the unit is functioning properly into the future, and will also prevent unnecessary overheating and breakdown. At 4:51 she explains and demonstrates the cleaning wand. Sometimes I use it, most times I don't. I have found that taking the cover piece outside and flushing through top and bottom with a garden hose will thoroughly and quickly flush all debris from within. Thanks for the video. It will make a difference for a lot of folks otherwise intimidated by the unit.

I was today years old when I learned that this thing comes apart for Cleaning. Perhaps if I hadn’t thrown the box and instruction materials away, I would’ve known that already. But this video just saved the machine from going in the trash 😂😂😂

For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to remove the second clear cover. I tried to press the two green buttons while simultaneously lifting the clear cover up. Your video showed what I was doing wrong. Thank you!

Thanks! Just got this machine and haven't used it yet. I had an earlier pet one and it was a pain to clean. There was no way to clean in certain areas. I was so happy when I saw that cleaning tool. I wanted to watch a how to for it for using and cleaning and found your videos. Very helpful!

Great video, very informative and easy to understand, she did an excellent job explaining it and showing it 👍👏Shame on bissell for the lack information and NO manual! Who does that 🤷‍♀…..besides bissell. Just a little side note here for anyone who has a garbage disposal. Not a 100% sure but it appeared she was cleaning the cleaner in the side of the sink that was the garbage disposal. You should NEVER clean anything that is gritty that may have sand, small stones, or anything sand like, such as rinsing off clams, kids dirty muddy sneakers, flip flops etc. sand will eventually get into the seals and bearings of the garbage disposal and shorten the life of the motor, just some food for thought, thats all.
Again great job on the video 👍

Great video never took these pieces off. It’s no wonder when I ran the machine it would spit up hair balls like a Siamese cat. I didn’t have the flex piece tool but was able to use flexible small brushes.

Thankfully I have a great vacuum so after 3 full tanks there was almost nothing anywhere that did not come out by rinsing in water. Shark Apex is supreme IMHO and these two used together make your life easier.

You should go from bottom with cleaning wand. That’s why it has the the little hooks / tabs at sides of “T”. To grab and pull. Plus you won’t be putting such stress on the wand with more sever bends as opposed to smoother gradual bends with going thru bottom and pulling out

Can you help me with my first use of this machine. I have cleaned the hallway and I believe I still have too much detergent in the carpet. I have gone over it three times with just water. I have cleaned my machine and I want to wait till the area is dry as the carpet has been down for more than 20 years........................so I want to see the result (a lot came off the carpet dirt and fluff - a lot-) maybe this is normal for first time ???
Thank you for your excellent clip :):):)

Your carpet must have been pretty clean to start out with. It typically takes me about 45 minutes to clean my Bissell - same model. I typically see a bunch of pet hair and carpet fibers wrapped around those rollers and wiping it with a towel won't get it done. The cleaning tool does nothing to get hair that has wrapped around the rollers or embedded in the bristles out.

Why not just add an inch of water in the tub instead of sweeping over carpet again? You;'re just getting more fibers stuck in the brush this way.
