They were bailed out , the workers gotten slashed in benefits for the last 14 years . That didn’t allow new hires to get to full salary for 8 years after full time hire status. The workers raised were on hold for 10 years . But this hasn’t stopped executives and CEOs pay increases. It hasn’t stopped the increase in car prices the average worker can’t afford. They moved away from small cars because it’s not a big enough profit for executive, pay and increase and shareholders. Look at the big 3 they don’t have a car that starts below $30k . They moved away from those and left it to the foreign car companies. But they will blame the workers and say we make too much give me a break 🤬
You hit the nail squarely on the head! The consumer continues to get fleeced as Detroit executives become richer and richer.
Couldn't have said it better! Damn shame people have to go to war with their employer to get fair wages and benefits.
They are gonna get bailed out again soon. Interest, insurance, mortgages skyhigh the u.s holds more private debt than ever before. More regional banks are closing..... This is the big one coming up. After this the big banks will own damn near everything
Ummm, how about the Chevy Trax? Starting price is $21K. Does the consumer actually want entry level cars or do they think they need every bell and whistle?
@@steveguillory7568with rates going up and loans going from 36 months to 84 months those bells and whistles will be past old once you pay off the car . I say give the average consumer something they can afford. Japanese car companies do it all the time and have replaced domestic brands in that market. They’ll still charge higher prices even when the vehicles are built in Mexico and the workers make $3.35 hour.
In what universe is GM going to produce and sell 1 million EVs in 2025 lol
When their Chinese parter sells 90% of those as glorified golf carts and other PHEV which are not true EVs as they still incorporate a gas engine.
Goofy silly land is my vote.
Mary BARA lied, and it matters
I love her always classy jady
Most of gm’s ‘sales’ are sitting on dealers lots.
Declaring GM will catch up with Tesla by 2025 is that still on track Mary? How was that Nikola deal for you?
Those who believe that please let me know what stuff are they smoking.
Let us not forget Fraudstown as well.
GM and Ford need to find a way to get around that dealership scam. It doesn't matter how much you cut cost when the dealership is marking up the price of cars.
But that's just it, they can't. The dealerships have too much power.
Why would they want that, they let the stealer ships price gouge you up to 10k on regular models.
@@odeball22 we are our own worst enemies. I work for the car industry and we never sold over sticker. But when you have others that do it people still pay because they are to lazy to actually reach out and find someone else...

NEGOTIATIONS FOOD FOR THOUGHT
1975 to 2022
GM auto worker pay of $6.25/hr adjusted for inflation would be $36.67.
BASICALLY THE SAME, except for tiers.
GM president Iacocca pay of $292K
adjusted for inflation would be $1.7M.
Mary Barra yearly compensation $29M
SEVENTEEN TIMES HIGHER!
According to Barra Math and my calculations the auto worker should be making $600 PER HOUR!
I’m SURE Mary Barra works 17 times harder than Lee Iacocca. 🙄
My phone is dripping with sarcasm.
Very few people want the Lyric or Hummer, it doesn't matter how many they can make?
They know that. That’s why they make so few
It’s 90,000 reservations for the Hummer. The lyric sold out in 4hrs do your research
@@117JamesW that’s funny. Thanks I needed that. The hummer is garbage
@@ZextraterrestrialThat doesn't mean people won't buy it. Lots of dimwitted 'Muricans, willing to buy anything so long as it's big.
you think that's a lot? @@117JamesW
This is not an auto executive but a politician with robotic & predictable answers to any question.
Exactly, don't say anything that will neither scare shareholders or hurt public opinion.
Agree that's why she's not also president. The other 2 car mfg have the CEO & pres 1 person. GM has 2 her at $30MM/yr and the Pres. @14MM/yr. 😂
Mary Barra claims GM will grow EV Sales from a few handful of units sold today to 1 million delivered in 2025, just two short years away. 😂🤣🤣😂
Big joke 😃😂
They can't even make their battery packs so don't know how they are going to make EVs.
GM unveiled 25 new BEV models late last yr! Oh...wait--that's what Mary BS Barra *said* but it's been long forgotten.
Marry Barra really believes the Chevy bolt and electric equinox are what consumers want 😂😂😂
My guess is that GM will be bankrupt or bailed out by 2030.
2025
Bailout. Too big to fail. If it was Tesla with more US employees and bigger numbers, they'd let it die because Tesla is not a union shop.
& yeah, they just gave ford $9 billion dollars of our tax money to build these cheap pieces of crap...
Before december 2028
@@mikafiltenborg7572 yes, I agree.
She has an answer for every question but no results!
She sounds like the Peanuts teacher when she talks about the workforce.
Tesla may pay their factory workers less but, how many factory works at Tesla are already millionaires thanks to there stock Options. you can't say that about GM
Decoded GM EV ramp: One hundred and fifty thousand made by end 2023. Two hundred fifty thousand (~40k per month) made during the first six months of 2024. Followed by six hundred thousand (~34k per month) over the subsequent eighteen months, ending with one million EV units cumulative by year end 2025.
For comparison, Tesla reached the goal of one million EV units cumulative by March 2020 and continues on track to equal or surpass GM in total vehicle output by Q1 2026.
Kudos to GM for putting nose to grindstone. The race is now on!
The 2024 Silverado step side with the 402ci engine is also a smart investment for America. Go Sam Houston.
400k vehicles 12 months from now. Lol lol lol....no way
Vehicles, 8 cylinders, yes, EVs no!
They try to count the golf carts they are selling in China.
A hummer is meant for terrain. A 100,000 ev hummers produced. I see 50 manual meaning fuel and store battery. If you do an EV cell operated only produce 10. The giveaway prize will cut back the uaw finances with the union. Meaning, keep salary and pay steady held(hold). Go Sam Houston
@CNBCtelevision the GM-UAW contract is easily accessible to anyone. Could you please do just a little research before putting out false information to the public. Temporary employees have to work two years at 16.50 an hour and are temps for a full two years. Top rate on Sept 4th will be 32.32 an hour for production employees, GMCH employees top out at 22.50 an hour. Nice to know that you are anti-union and anti-labor!
Could you do your research? Temps can be temps as long as the company- union allow . Sometimes 4-5 years is not unheard of.
I have a lot of respect for Mary Barra but more and more it becomes apparent just how conservative and and aloof the corporate Detroit auto industry really is. Tesla and the other EV start ups are eating their lunch.
Conservative? Barra is making the most Inclusive company she can. All DEI hires amd snowflakes. GM is the corporate San Fran. Go woke, go broke.
We ( UAW) have no respect for her.
Would be amazing to reach Mary Barra. Great CEO
Here is one problem. I want to buy a car. There is none available, and I can’t order one.
Let's talk about...greed.....let's pay the workers....that money you didn't earn.....or the ppp loan that wasn't for you or the
stockholders..... companies that rely on the workforce is where the buck stops....
The Chinese are not cutting prices. They're going off economy fluctuation meaning up and down finances. Go Sam Houston.
Corporate Greed does not want to pay workers, bottom line. If she's so proud of the compensation package, why doesn't she pay herself what UAW Workers are paid.
30% price increase for new vehicles since 2019. Cost effective? Yea, you pass it in to the buyer. Pretty effective.
Anyone buying a US car is crazy.
She makes
$29 million a year!!New Factory worker make $16.00 an hour some fast food workers make more and factory workers destroy their bodies with repetitive work thousands and thousands of times a week!
Be realistic ma’am!🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Its clear, gm will MISS production target.
The blazer and equinox has same platform. The 2024 Chevrolet blazer - With the 396c.i. engine is where I invest in America . Go Sam Houston.
These OEMs are burying themselves.
EV worker need 2 make more not less
Mary LOVES leather jackets
she’s gonna need a straight jacket when Ford signs with Tesla 😅
Take a guess how much their assembly line workers make per hour? It’s probably lower than your guess.
We make a minimum of 16.67 an hour starting out.
just in time for contract talks... hmm
Gm BS Bara
I sense major tragedy unfolding. not only here. 😢
Just the 'tragedy' of Sears that we used to rely on in rural America for a century. Once were in the ballpark of 100 US car mfgs, GM had 50% of US market share in 1970's. Progress means the sluggish and complacent lose, nothing tragic about that overall.
Touché! All of the legacy auto manufacturers are in trouble. The question is which one will fold first and which one will fold last?
@@theodorehaskins3756 Last will be Toyota,Honda etc. The japanese are long term planners not quarterly like us U.S bozos
@@frenchonion4595 So I am never one to predict the future, because the history of those who do, are fraught with failure, and so I am reluctant to do that, so having said that, I do believe that overall all, legacy auto manufacturers all have the same problem, and that is, they’re making the wrong cars/vehicles powered by the wrong elements, and we’re just getting a clearer picture of the devastation in Maui, yet there are few answers, as to how we go about restoring this magnificent place, and what we can do to prevent a similar event from occurring, and obviously, it’s going to require a lot of resources, a lot of effort over a long period of time and we’re talking decades here to restore this once pristine area.
So this is not a coincidence, because we’ve seen that same devastation in other parts of the continental US, and so if folks don’t get the true signs that there’s something awfully wrong going on here, than we’re all doomed anyway, because we have one political party that has completely walked away from any notion that it is the result of human activity that is causing the rising temperature of the oceans, and the atmospheric rise of temperature dubbed the greenhouse affect that is fueling a lot of these events.
"rice pricepoint" she slipped
I'm confused why we are praising a company that received 50 billion in loans that haven't been paid back still...the numbers of evs that they putting out its embarrassing. So if they are making big money in ice... the penalties for doing that ice business and half assing ev production still aren't high enough.
I see a platform of automobiles which serve the family. Over skilled is meant to keep around. The Equinox has no place as platform with comfort. Think, terrain in any weather is a way of thought. Your Malibu is always a selling flow of income. You know how many people don't like trucks. For reasons of wrongful thinking to sue government. Look at flood areas. The dumb pay as the smart decisions we make. Hello attorney, without prejudice.
Kramer who’s side are you on? Gotta come inside the house stop looking through the window numbers don’t lie this is the big 3 not a cheese and noodle factory
They so focus on making electric cars and trucks and put a starting price of $100k but who is going to buy these vehicles if people can barely live and keep a roof over they family heads. That’s why we going on strike. They don’t care about the people and the family. They want yall to stay broke buy these expensive cars and trucks that ppl can’t afford. All because it’s electric. They want yall to go crazy and spend yall hard earned money and give to them. While you and your family is homeless with a $100k debts. Wake up ppl please. WE MAKE THESE CARS AND WE CANT EVEN AFFORD THEM. So what that tell you?????
GM stock has been dead money for a decade, Barra is a load, and should be fired.

So I was born 72 years ago, and I drive a Tesla, and not a Buick! That should tell you something!🥸
What it tells me is, you have seen all the crap GM has made since the late 70’s onward. I’m 68 years old, I’ve seen it all myself, quality cars of the 50’s to GM junk cars of today. I saw all the oil prices up and down since the mid 70’s and realized we will always pay whatever oil companies want. So I bought a 2018 Tesla Model 3. What I pay in energy fees, goes to the city where I live, instead of the oil refineries, or the Middle East. Also, buying a Tesla which, is mostly made in America, by young eager American workers. I feel proud to support our American work force. 👍🏻👍🏻
@@andrerodriguez7603 Touché! And I’ve owned some of them. I do feel sorry for the workers though, they’re going to take it in the shorts, when it comes to pension plan payouts, because GM, and every single legacy auto manufacturer is not going to be in a position to continue to meet their obligation to fully fund their pension plans. Cheers 🥂
