20:01 "Where things are going exactly- NOOOOO!" Duke really studied tactis well, distracting the Carrier with a BC before sending in a Wraith to take down the Carrier itself.
Sometimes the impatience of grant gets the better of him, 700 minerals and 500 gas could've been saved with a little trip to the battery right behind the Ganthritor and recover the lost shields
It's actually pretty amazing how well Grant does in a high-stress situation. Grant: **Loses half his army to the bunker line and incoming attack wave in front of his base** Also Grant: Doing pretty good right now. 17:32 Your Zealots won't live, too. Anything on the ground is fair game.
It's one thing that Starcraft 2 doesn't really get that the Protoss aren't gonna mince words; tell them you're blocking their way? Burning time. Incinerate your forces to cinders. Even the "enlightened" Tassadar does so. It really does put Artanis and maybe Fenix in the outlier of dispositions for being uncommonly nice to terrans.
Artanis and Fenix bore witness to Raynor’s willingness to help and came to respect Terrans. Raynor was probably the first Terran they encountered first, too. Tassadar, unfortunately, knows how ugly humanity can be at times.
Imagine if you're trying to go some place, and the equivalent of a drugged-up monkey tells you no. And you are the final creation of the profenitor species who entrusted the galaxy to you. You'd probably not care about diplomatic responses.
Mod maker here, grant did a very good job but my other testers got kicked in the teeth by this mission so I'm adding an extra gas geyser and some minerals. In the base game you start with nukes and are subtly encouraged to use them to bust the bases, but no such luck here.
I assume part of it as well is that by default you are terrain and have access to siege tanks which have a lot more bang for their buck than anything protons has
Duke had Yamato, but Tass has no spells be default. What if you could add one? Maybe edit him to have disruption web, his own Yamato, or something more odd.
I still love how well the opening for the missions are done, sometimes there is lovable jank, but if you have never played Starcraft then you could easily think it was part of the original campaigns. Artanis as Tass' secretary lol
I have trouble getting to sleep. You always help with that, a sort of refuge of last resort. Watching your videos helps me calm and center, if nothing else works to help me fall asleep before your videos come out. 2am my time. There’s no incessant raging or unjustified crankiness, random exclamations for the sake of being loud. Just nice smooth gameplay where you roll with the punches, explain what’s going on, and get excited when someone should be. I can’t recall a time where it’s been “Grant, chill the hell out, it’s just _____” because you just don’t do that. You like cool stuff and I like cool stuff. The little details thrown in, the noticeable changes, the Rule of Cool things that happen, it seems like we both enjoy those types of things. Even the rare occasion that you do get upset, I’m ALSO sitting here going “What the hell game, that should’ve worked?!” because it’s not fake or performed outrage. That’s not your brand, when you get off balanced it’s reasonable. Even if it’s the community. You do such a fine job of getting content out regularly, apologizing for breaks or delays or difficulties even though you don’t have to do that. It takes a good sort of person to be that committed and resilient in both gameplay and content creation. In short? Thanks for the uploads and being a good guy. It shows in all of your content. It is something that helps me out often.
I forgot this mod had changed heroes. I was really cringing as the Gantrithor took damage each time and especially as it was deployed while in the red.
BC targeting air spellcaster is normal AI behaviour, they do the same in UED campaign to your science vessels (forgot the mission name, the one you get either nuked or BCed, depending on previous mission)
Duke was always my favourite mostly because he had a buffed BC. I was always a BC enjoyer, carriers just look silly and the interceptors are like flies while the BC looks gigachad and has yamato. 20:01 This are going exactly how... NOOOOOOOOOO, when the heroic wraith flew 100 miles to bite a baby Gantrithor.
The hell is a "Twilight council?" I only know of the blessed, hallowed grounds of the Citadel of Adun. Also Arbiters are the best unit in either game. :)
ironic how in lore Gantrithor is OP and better than norad II since it can sink a fleet of BC and glass a planet but gameplay wise its just a tankier carrier and Norad II is better by a mile the carrier has the crapiest hero in OG starcraft since all heroes have double their hp and damage while the Gantrithor has double its health while its damage is the same cuz the interceptors doesn't have a heroic counterpart
I've never really understood, apart from gameplay balance, why the super advanced protoss are so allergic to healing and repairs. It's a welding torch or a bandaid really that far beyond them?
Lore-wise, their religious zealotry caused them to regress as a society and forget how most of their own stuff works. Most of their mechs are ancient and their production is automated to the point where no one had to remember how any of it worked...until it didn't. When the Dragoon foundries on Auir were lost, the Protoss straight up didn't know how to rebuild Dragoons since the foundry did it for them for so long that no one needed to remember how to do it themselves. They were fundamentally a medieval religious society squatting on tons of convenient tech from their forefathers who did all the smart stuff for them. This is also a cultural difference regarding the Dark Templar, since they actually make new things (new units) and innovate. They're the ones who had the means to replace Dragoons with Stalkers since they know how to build their own stuff and can replace things that were automated by just rebuilding with the blueprints that they know how to read. Most completely new SC2 units are Nerazhim or Purifier creations (Stalkers, Void Rays, Oracles, Adepts, and Disruptors) while most modified versions of old SC1 units are tweaked Delaam efforts to try making something new but can't so they just slap on more firepower (Dragoon into Immortals) or take off unnecessary weight (Scouts to Pheonix). Funnily, Tal'Darim unit philosophy (steal existing things and slap on ridiculous modifications) is very in-line with their non-Dark/Purifier counterparts. Another example is how in LoTV, you can see how Protoss society used to be more advanced with things like the Purifier program, but the Conclave's societal regression made them eventually unable to know how any of that worked and just buried it to avoid their own problems. Ironically, the Purifiers due to being scans of pre-regression Protoss can and do create new things such as Disruptors and Adepts because they retain the know-how needed to advance and innovate.
@@joshuakim5240 Thank you very much for the detailed answer. So dogmatic adherence to a harmful ideology combined with the self-assured knowledge that they had reached the absolute pinnacle of technology already lead to a Protos that is rotting from within while applying new layers of golden paint every century or so.
@@ldn_rumrunner losing hero unit, casual losing combat units, no proper sweep of battle field, no use of detector, no use of stasis traps (even he produced many arbiter). Lmao what?
General Duke is a real Terran player, instead of surrendering he just hides a bunch of structures across the map.
We finally learned where he studied tactics :D
I will steer the Gantrithor into a collision course with the ion cannon

Selendis doesnt really do that coz shes nice to Jim lol.

I just love SC1 voice lines. “Your lawyers have engaged the enemy” a real legal battle with Artanis Attorney at Law
