- I am aware that I didn't see the crystal at 38:30 due to being focused on the tanks. I am writing this message because I thought it would be funny to see people commenting about me missing things while missing this message themselves.

Crazy, crazy.
"Including this part" - GiantGrantGames
I prefer "Quote me on this." -GiantGrantGames
"This guys like the opposite of Akundalar".
My stupid brain: "So, Akundalarn't."
This comment needs more attention.
Brilliant
The opposite of the tip of the Spear, I guess is the end of the shaft...
GGG: where'd that SCV with the crystal go?
Crystal, casually chilling right in the middle of the screen: "his sight is based on movement, so if I stay still, he won't see me..."
that crystal was cosplaying as an archon and fool grant, he may need better glasses
The "Giant" in GiantGrantGames refers to him being a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Poor Zeratul is completely lost at sea in this campaign. He always seems to be confused or surprised by things he should already know.
Zeratul attends a briefing about Tassadar being imprisoned.
(15 minutes later) Zeratul: "There is a Protoss in that cell!"
Fenix says that it's Tassadar and then goes about freeing him.
(5 seconds later) Zeratul: "Ah. It's Tassadar!"
Zeratul doesn't need to listen to these Daelaam, he knows only what he sees in the Void.
But he excused himself last episode, that he is old. So that is forgiven, this is the Grandpa Zeratul Arc!
The senility setting in early.
Hybrid? On Auir!? It must be they who are controlling the zerg!
well, he did say he must be getting old pretty early
Zeratul: kills Aldaris in the previous mission
Also Zeratul: "Why would Aldaris betray us so?"
His old senile ass probably didn't notice it wasn't the real Aldaris, just some lookalike. 😂
Also also Zeratul: "We should destroy Aldaris, Executor"
it's retrospective
Duke's SCV seeing probe rushing towards the dropped crystal: Where did you study tactics, boy?
As an Australian, I really appreciated that Zealot timing. Thanks, Grant!
"Executor, it seems that if our world is to live, we must destroy *GENERAL DUKE* " -Tassadar
Grant> we have to find that SCV
*Grant looks right at the crystal for 10 seconds, then scrolls North*
Grant> We have to go on an adventure to find it
34:43 AI: Turnabout is fair play.
It was pretty hilarious that the enemy can just play keep away with the crystal, and maybe shoot at you while you chase the SCV.
34:40 In this episode we get the game trolling Grant back
8:14 "Don't quote me on this, in the TH-cam comments, including this part. That would be very embarrassing if I was wrong."
-GiantGrantGames
Love the dialogue splicing. The fact that is still kind of makes sense with the limited lines that you have to work with is great.
I don't know Starcraft lore either, but I love the idea that General Duke personally pilots every single battlecruiser in the Terran Arsenal, and the man just narrowly escapes death each time his ship gets blown up.
Tassadar the type of guy to surrender after one bad fight.
Mweeeh, the purity of our game has been besmirched !
Besmeeched, even!
@@plackt YT suggests translating your line, but not the one you correct. The irony...
@@tereninsecundus6084 yeah, because my comment is referencing a recent video where Grant pronounced it as besmeeched…
No one
SCV: OMG, a rock
The voiceline edits are great
Artosis cast is very weird 😂 thats such a polite way to say how insane this stream gets 😂@22:15
Hey, we don't have 3 cities!
We have 5 :P
5 Australian state capitals have over 1 million people. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide. Those 5 represent over 13 million people and more than 50% of all Australians.
We should create an artificial river through the middle to create more usable land, but we don't coz it might disturb some lizards or something
@@ChannelMiner Also, the island would drift apart if you cut it in two like that. So that's no good.
@@falsnamae3511 uh i didnt mean cut the continental plate and stuff
Which of these five is your nation capital though?
@@gressorialNanites None of them, though Sydney likes to pretend it is. Think of it a bit like how Washington DC is nowhere near as big as New York or Los Angeles. Similar reasons. Canberra is the city for national bureaucracy like DC is for US.
You've besmeeched me and the purity of the High Tempars for the last time, Findlay! *angry Aldaris noises*
Finley, if you are reading this, I have an idea on how to make revived heroes persist their heroic color:
1. Replace the "reviving" unit with the fake one with the same name
2. Make a trigger that removes the fake unit and spawns heroic on his place for the rescuable player
3. That spawned unit is located near the nexus and thus is automatically rescued
This is the first time I see in StarCraft 1 that a normal high Templar has an attack in their kit, normally campaigns used only tassadar/aldaris models, that’s such a nice little change
Steve the Rock-Stealing SCV was hilarious
Loved ur story about Artosis and General Duke haha
34:40 The game trolling Grant by stealing the objective and running away to hide with it being carried by a 1hp SCV is surprising and funny. The game just trolled Grant there.
Yes, the tank was spawned in, not dropped in, at 0:37, between one frame and the next. You can see it if you go slowly.
14:58 you’ve not enough CHEESE (thats how i heard it and died laughing)
around 24:00 when you're talking about creator collab stuff, you know Archipelago (which you just played on twitch) is largely the way it is for co-op / multi-world reasons? You can roll a multiworld with, say, you and Jay playing a two-player campaign, sending items back and forth. In Archipelago, starcraft 2 is somewhat unique in that it allows for multiple players to share the same slot, so they can share mission progress and the same item pool. The nature of Archipelago means you can also mix in other games with support (I remember seeing a speedrunner post videos of him doing 3x3 mission grids in a multiworld with a friend playing Risk of Rain 2).
Mostly I'm just laughing at the possibility of theming settings per-person. Give Jay starting firebats and you starting predators lol.
"Besmeeched" - GGG 2024
It's just so idiosyncratically Grant to try a weird and funky strategy, find out it doesn't work, then do the regular strategy of "just kill all the enemies" and have it be absolutely 100% successful but still nearly lose the mission anyway because he tried the funky strategy first! It does make a pleasant change for it not to be a "get to the objective before my base burns down" though!
Pathing is definitely the worst enemy to face in SC1 by a long way though, so kudos for facing it head-on against maximum difficulty (i.e. a million hallucinated archons walking over each other)
40:16: and here we see the mating dance of the high templar….
grant does games vs the crystal
funniest shit I've ever seen 🤣🤣🤣
Tassadar: _"Executor! I was about to abandon all hope of ever being rescued"_ _"What's your angle here?"_
Fenix: _"Our angle? I'll give you an angle you slimy..."_
Tassadar: _"...Fenix?"_ _"The executor told of how you fell before the Zerg!"_ _"How is that you live and breathe?"_
Fenix: _"I now reside in the cold robotic shell of Dragoon"_ _"I've come here to arrest you and bring you home to stand trial!"_
Zeratul _"As do I"_
Tassadar: _"Arrest me? Aiur burns at the touch of the Zerg, and you come all the way here to arrest me?!"_
Fenix: _"Well, the Zerg have Omega and Delta Squadrons defending that platform. They're nothing compared to my Alpha Squadron boys!"_
Tassadar: _"Executor! Aldaris! This madness must stop!"_
Fun Fact: A control group of High Templar is known as a "Conclave."
About the Psi Assault thing. That was actually a thing in version 1.00 of the original Starcraft. It got removed relatively early on, in the 1.04 patch (broodwar), but before then, all High Templars could do Psi Assault just like our friend Tassadar. But no one has played that version since Broodwar, (and most people I reckon haven't even played Starcraft without the Broodwar expansion).
Grant's play is sometimes a perfect example of a psychological sunk cost fallacy. He goes for a cheese, disregards defences and economy and when the cheese fails he is like "this is taking too long" and disregards defences and economy even more trying to rush stuff. In the rush he doesn't notice the objective which makes his situation progressively more dire which causes him to rush even more. And that's how he turns a 10 minute free win mission into a 20 minute almost lost slog
... And that's the kind of content we are here for.
And that is why he is our loveable giant man
can't wait for Grant to play normal WoL, HotS, & LotV wherein the units are from SC1 based on SC2 campaign. uThermal already playing SC1 based units in a 1v1 so I assume there is a mod there that does this to campaigns as well. If not, hope they'll make it for Grant to play.
The project is called Evolution Complete. From what I've heard, the plans are to eventually remake the sc1 campaigns in the sc2 engine, but it's still early days and they're still working on Loomings (a campaign that takes place before Rebel Yell), and haven't released anything for the main campaigns yet.
@@phaneros didn't mass recall already make the SC1 campaigns kn the SC2 engine?
@@Santisima_Trinidad Mass Recall did, and they're fun, but there's issues especially on the dev side.
From the Evolution Complete page: "we're trying to differentiate us enough from Mass Recall by doing our own redesigns and overall just having a more complete and refined experience."
My own personal experience with Mass Recall was that it was a little buggy, the quality variable, the lighting all over the place, and it was very rough around the edges. In the words of Subsourian: "Based on talking to mapmakers, Mass Recall maps are also a pile of spaghetti held together by prayers". Its state is largely because it was such a long-lived project, spanning many many years of sc2's life.
Mass Recall is great and I'm glad it exists, but it's definitely not my preferred way of experiencing those campaigns and I'm very glad that a skilled team is revisiting it.
@@phaneros alright, makes a lot of sense. Hopefully it is a much better experience then.
i think funding more co-op campaign experiences through the same method as CCM stuff would be a good way to boost collab opportunities - the stream team 3-player experience and the brood war coop with Ace.
It's obvious that to get the full and true glory of the hallucination strategy that you should have dragoons and reavers as the hallucinated targets.
This might be interesting for Twitch Trolls Grant: AI Steals the Objective.
About the hallucination: Send the zealots and archons to attack the first base, then hallucite the already attacking archons in that base and send them to the second - morph more archons meanwhile - you will have your hallucinations going to the second base while destroying the first base and then can move the full first base to the second too without much pathing issues I believe.
Or take the first side of the base and make the hallucinations there since there is a wide area.
About collab stuff with other content creators, I always liked to see you playing Coop campaigns. So perhaps more 2-player or 3-player coop campaigns in the CCM? And yeah Harstem really does a good job organising and coming up with fun collab stuff with other SC content creators.
15:48 Its the ultralisk you dont see that gets you
OMG I just love Fenix so much with his "nonsense" line. SC1 story telling is on a different level.
that SCV wanted to show Duke the cool rock he found today
12:14 - You mean, like Robotussin, the cough syrup? Nah, we have that.
warcraft 3 has an amazing coop campaign mod and Spellforce 3 is an amazing rts with coop
those "starcraft 1 purists" dont know that high templar had an attack to begin with but was removed because they didint want their casters to have attacks which i prefer they would have an attack. also clunkyness in broodwar is what makes the game balanced, in sc2 you just get a large clump of units and amove to win, having a large army in bw gave the losing player a chance to recover.
Greetings from one of Australia's three cities!
38:39
that's funny, considering the crystal in the middle of the screen
AUSTRALIA MENTIONED RAAAAAAAAAHHH 🇦🇺 🇦🇺 🇦🇺 🇦🇺 🇦🇺 🇦🇺
WHAT IS A FUNCTIONING LIVER
I love the voiceline "My path is set" from the High Templar. They seem so ignorant of their pathing issues inside the protoss army 😅
Should have hallucinated Zeratul that first attempt at the beacon. He has way more health than zealots and hallucinated dark templar actually aren't cloaked so the ai would've targeted him even without detection.
scv was like "anyone else gonna take that crystal" and didn't wait for a response
In both this and the reversed campaign, every time I hear the hero has been killed sound effect my blood turns to ice.
Grant you fool, that SCV was trying to bring the crystal back and apologize, but you killed him!
Nice job GDG!
Really enjoy Fenix's voice line there, you can hear the dragoon tone and his unconquered spirit tone mixing together
5:45 four zealots to kill a sunken, four lings to kill a cannon. Perfectly balanced.
Thanks for the fun. ^^
Hello every1
My name is lowko and in the right corner we have ourselfes the player with the protoss pieces maxpax
33:33 , dont apologize for finding learning opportunities.
@35:00-ish
To quote Brennan Lee Mulligan: "My instinct when I see a new game piece is to sieze it for myself"
Looks like the AI watches Game Changer lol
When Zealots goes "bột năng khô" I really feel it.
High Templar were supposed to have an attack anyway, so I have 0 issue with this.
I don't think there's another Shuttle mission but Hallucinating Shuttles in the Norad mission would probably have been the Hallucination play. Starcraft 1 is a bit too unruly without air units but building 2 Shuttles, hallucinating 20 and dropping the objective
No HT on that mission I don't think
@@gressorialNanites He started with one, though I don't know without checking whether he could build more or not.
@@riluna3695 I went back and checked and you're right, HT was possible to build. Feels weird that so many units would unlock there, and nothing (i think?) in the next one, but oh well.
The way it is playing out it feels brand new campaign.
good on you for not doing the cheesy way to beat the first mission. just using the corsairs to disruption web the spores then dropping a bunch of zealots to clear them out. could probably win in under 10 minutes.
Aussie here, we love you too Grant!
Hi I'm European and I don't understand the robotossin' joke.
Robitussin is a brand name for Dextromethorphan, a popular cough medicine in America.
@@kupaN9 Thanks, I just assumed it what like Skytoss but with a robo :P
@@kupaN9 Gotcha, thanks.
I think it's a pun so it is also about protoss going robo builds.
Robo-Toss(ing)
and when you're robotussin you're basically getting a psychedelic trip from cough medicine.
Hi, I’m American and I don’t understand the joke either.
GGG: I think when we can que up workers to auto task thats when original starcraft will see more engagement
Me: (playing warcraft 1 and 2) yeah I'm sure thats the hardest thing........
Yeah, workers don't need to be ordered to collect the pickupable items, they'll just grab them if they run over them. It doesn't have to be intentional. Funny enough you'll probably only see this happen with terrans thanks to repairs.
I think I first learned of that with Kerrigans cocoon.
For hallucinated units, that don't interfere with pathing, it would have to be an air unit, right? Won't help with siege tanks, though...
21:00 the tank spawns in; not a drop
You can rally your workers on mining in U.E.D. A.I project btw;)
SCV: *my precious...*
Collab idea:
The Elden Ring community play bingo, where they try to complete various challenges to fill out a bingo card, I tried to imagine a similar thing with SCII but they length of the missions don't really make that easy.
So how about this:
Each player does 3 randomly selected missions (the same as each other) and gets points based on how many stupid challenges they do, such as:
Mercs only (WoL)
No Kerrigan
Mono unit
No SoA
But also lose points if they ever have to reload, play on less than Brutal and there is a big bonus for finishing all 3 fastest.
This means there is a risk/reward element of how hard you make it vs finishing fastest and trying to predict what the other player will do, you could also have it that if only 1 player does a challenge its worth double points so blocking other person is vital and you have to predict their style.
"I know it's just 'cause you guys have like... three cities."
As an Australian, never have I been more offended by something I completely agree with.
"Finlay took the Starcraft 1 AI and increased it's intelligence to make it a Macro God." - HugeGrantGames 2024
I think maybe the SCV was trying to repair the Turret and accidentally 'clicked' the Khalis crystal instead. I'm not sure how exactly the AI determines where to click. Might be a boundary box thing.
Flying hallucinations work great, but obviously only against targets that shoot up. And drawing additional fire from missile turrets that would otherwise be a non-threat obviously isn't great.
But speaking of missile turrets - do they have vision in the entire base? Then Zeratul might be a decent hallucination target, assuming his hallucinations have hero and not default dark templar health (minus the hallucination tax, obviously).
As a viewer from Brazil, I feel left out at the shout out 😂
Rally point on mines has been quite a popular feature in mods from the pre-1.17 version of this game, back from before it went free and became available on Battle Net. It's a shame that the modding tools for the newer version aren't quite as powerful not simple of use.
7:48
Question: do gateway probes make you want to try hard probes?
Aldaris to people who don't like HT auto-attack: "What could you possibly know of our game designs, blasphemer?"
Collab wise I would love to see you play a coop arcade called Mercs. Mercenaries in Space, a full RPG-like arcade which is very fun and we'll made.
When Ara Tribe are asked to revive a fallen "Hero" they intentionally repaint him, since they no longer view him as such a legend
Why does a cannon die to 4 zerglings? Because damage types. In sc1, the photon cannon does 10+10 vs armored.
If it goes boom, it's anti armor, except the ghost rifle which is conussive boom and does anti light.
are there the other two campaigns yet?
So wait is this teran campaign playing as protos or protos campaign happening during terran missions ? xD
I'd wager the Goldilocks unit for mass illusions is *Air Units*.
Grant it don’t matter if you are the dumbest or not dumbest person on the planet, you are our loveable giant man and we would be far lesser without your joy and antics :)
Collaboration idea - Get 2 content streamers to play a custom campaign at the same time, But all of the choices - Upgrades / Evolutions / Powers etc can only be used by one person at a time, this would create some interesting conversations and builds worked out between each other, Follow same planet orders etc, Not a complete way to colab but could be a fun thing to try on one of the campaigns! :D
There's always tournament racing.
15:21 Did this hero color change msg pop up any of the last times a hero first respawned in a mission? If not, great QoL change
To be fair to those SCVs, their job is mostly to gather blue crystals, so your blue crystal should be no different
Here is an idea for a colab: archon mode mod for the campaign. You play the campaign on nightmare with someone while sharinv controls. Then its just a casual hangout.
Or one person plays WoL and the other plays WoL Reversed and you race.
Or you play archipelago mod scavenger hunt/bingo. Play the mod against someone else and try and get a certain list of upgrades and units.
Hope im not too late with my suggestions! They may be better for streams than youtube though
Grant gets trolled by Depot Dave. Fantastic.
This is a total non-sequitor but since they gave you corsairs (thereby relegating the scout to never ever being used again), I'll just mention it. The scout sucks for a variety of reasons, and a big one is its price which should simply be lowered. But also, the anti-ground attack should do splash. The hit sprite on it is pretty large. Numbers might need tweaking.
Or you could lean into the name of the unit and give it an activated ability that makes it a detector. It CAN be made useful, it's a simply a question of how...
You know what could be a fun community event, how about instead of a Game jam, there was a campaign jam
