Gilmours original recording of the solos were musically perfect. The tone, the note choices, the emotion, the execution. It is perfection. A guitar player, even an all time guy like John Mayer would be doing himself and David G a disservice to just get up there and play it note for note like the original recording. John is plenty talented enough to play it note for note, hell, I can play it note for note and you've never heard of me I'm sure lol. But only Gilmour wrote and composed it, so copying it would be lame. Mayer did a great job paying homage to the critical notes inside the solos while playing within his own style and sound. This was brilliant.
One of the best versions I've heard
just WOW
Incredible !
Brilliant
Awesome production! Thank you !
O.m.g. fuckin' A...John mayer...
Epic
Holy fuck that was incredible
J.D. Martini adds a lot to this, and it takes GUTS to cover this song. Well done.
I like John Mayer but nobody plays this like David Gilmour, and nobody ever will.
real no one does it better than gilmour
And i don't think John wanted to play it like Gilmour. He played it in his own style
No one wants to hear the same version of the song. This version is incredible in a whole new way.
