Since you did this video. I bought three heads from Manito. First one had a difficult time with it. Contacted Manito via messenger. They helped me with several tips on how to mount the head. Once on , the other two were much easier to mount. Thanks Manito and Eric

Want to go with steer heads for my LP Giovanni galaxy congas in future but need more money ugh! Good to know they have pre mounted heads to save me time!
Have you tried custom or handmade timbas and if so, what do you think about makers like Skyn on Skyn, JCR, (older) Gon Bops, ehem Manito, etc...? IMO mass produced are louder but the sound is not as rich. Kinda like the difference between flourescent colors (mass produced) v. dark hues like violet, burgundy, forest green etc. (usually do to the wood). Just wondering because you seem to go in that direction with choosing the heads but not the shells and hardward???
GI S I’ve played on SOS, JCR, MoPerc, Juniors, and Mameys.... personally... handmade timbas will always out do the mass produced timbas simply based off the attention to detail the craftsman is able to give to each drum... there’s more personality into each maker... the reason why I chose a mass produced company like Meinl, other than endorsing them, is because of their accessibility on certain areas I play at where I wouldn’t be able to take my equipment to places... I believe Meinl makes great stuff for being a “mass produced company”... when it comes to heads... heads really expose the juices a “mass produced drum” can actually sound like... in my opinion. I do plan on owning hand made drums for my personal collection.

Whats goin on Eric. I just purchased some premounted steer heads from manito percussion and the conga went on no problem and sounds great, but the tumba seems to be to big to fit inside the ring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love your videos man, I'm learning a lot. Thanks Eddie
