    Just got the black Skyndeep heads for my vintage 1970’s Fiberglass LPs. Couldn’t be happier with the result!!!
    See you in October!!

    Hi, Will. A perfectly tuned natural raw hide head, still has the edge, in my opinion. But when you live in, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 , and it's rain, rain, humidity, and more rain........... it's a bloody nightmare! 😡 😂. So, I have a synth on my macho/conga, and a natural on my hembre and tumba..........Another good vid, mate! Nice one! 👍. Mark.

    Thank you so much for a great illustration of the skins. It helps me to recognize the different tones and to see what I want to use in my studio. Great videos.

    Hi Will, me personally I prefer natural rawhide skins. I have both natural and Remo/Evans synthetics. even though the natural skin have to be tuned weather wise, they have a more solid sound, especially with wooden congas. with synthetics i get that echo/ringy sound. I have to put duck tape underneath the heads to get a more solid sound. Thanks for your Great Video, I really enjoyed it. y Que Siga La Rhumba, WEPA

      Yea I understand totally. I used rawhide for a very long time, wasn’t only from a few years ago where I actually gave synthetics a try…..but as a gigging musician, it’s made my job easier. I think the Evans head on fiberglass drums are excellent and Nuskyn on wooden congas are the “cleanest” sounding synthetic. Drier sound, not as much overtone. But natural will always rule as far as pure tone! Can’t beat that part. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    Thank you so much for making and posting this video. I was looking for a good synthetic conga head (I'm a committed vegetarian/vegan) and so dead skin is a real turnoff when playing drums. Looks like the Remo Symmetry Skyndeep 10:13 is the winner!

    Thanks, Will, for comparing four heads ... no one else has done that to my knowledge. I don't have a real preference myself since I believe there are places for natural and Remos. There is one that I don't like ... the Fiberskyns. I know there are lots of people who do like it, but it's always sounded too "plastically" to me. Thanks again!

      @RomanPercussion  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You’re welcome Mark! I agree all have a place, for sure. Fiberskyns do have that ring to them but they are comfortable to play on as well. Played a gig last night with a Fiberskyn on my conga and Nuskyn on the tumba and I like the combination. Fiberskyn sounded nice after fine tuning forever lol, not the easiest head to tune, in my opinion. But I think they can sound pretty good if you’re a little patient with them and give them a detailed tuning. But I totally understand what you mean, just sharing my experience with them last night.

      @@RomanPercussion Thanks, Will ... always interested in your opinion! I was unaware that they felt that differently from each other. Could you kindly explain? Thanks again!

    The fiberskyn is a collector's item not produced anymore by Remo and is the best sounding conga head .

      Yes because its the closest to rawhide😅

    • @RomanPercussion
      @RomanPercussion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remo still offers the “Fiberskyn” which is a newer version of the old Fiberskyn 3 with the Mondo (brown rim) on the bottom. That version has been discontinued. Hard to find nowadays.

    Thank you soo much for this brother I really havent tried the 4th one but is it similir to skyndeep 3?

    • @RomanPercussion
      @RomanPercussion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fiberskyn 3 is the head I think you’re talking about. It’s a great head, the Skyndeep is also very good. Fiberskyn 3 has more overtones but has more “cut” on the high end, crispier slaps and open tones. Skyndeep has a round tone, balanced overall sound, in my opinion.

    Hey! Nice Video ! it will help players who are not that familiar with the different heads! Now the same with bongo Heads?? :)

    • @RomanPercussion
      @RomanPercussion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Bongos would be a little different from a sound standpoint but here is a video I did on them. At this point I didn’t have the Skyndeep bongo heads yet so I only have 2 of the synthetic heads but it’s good to hear what they sound like. Skyndeep heads are fantastic on bongos though. th-cam.com/video/wUktDIgJ66Y/w-d-xo.html

    I’m looking to buy synthetic heads for my LP aspire Congers, 10 and 11 inch. What do you recommend Remo or EVANS?

    • @RomanPercussion
      @RomanPercussion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally, I’m a Remo guy between the two as far as hand percussion heads are concerned. The challenge will be finding them in those sizes, especially the 10”. Maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t recall seeing a 10 inch percussion head in the past. Good luck to you though!

    Are there any companies that sell Or custom make 8" and 9" synthetic heads for LP's Junior Congas?

    • @RomanPercussion
      @RomanPercussion  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question, I believe Remo offers some 9” heads that are for bongos. Not sure if they will work for your Junior congas.
      I don’t know of any others though

    Remo head sounds like a tin can.. Always go natural and deal with it in humid weather.That is why they invented a tuning keys.
