I have flown with my bow a couple of times and had zero issues. In Jackson Wyoming they even put it behind the check in counter when I arrived as an added security measure so someone else didn't walk off with my gear. The ladies at check in even put "Handle with Care" tags on it when I asked them nicely in my thickest Aussie accent.

The pelican is a nice case. I’m kind of stuck on the SKB I series.
Where are the pelican air 17 45s made? Are they made in the US?
I try to buy everything I can that’s made in the US

Grim Reaper makes some awesome heads. I used the 3Blade Hades micro on my whitetail last season, and had a 25 yard runaway truck ramp to follow the blood trail... where he basically snowplowed 10 yards to a stop.

It sucks flying with my bow.
I’ve had TSA people mess with my stuff. I personally know people who had their bow stolen.
Another one of my hunting buddies had a TSA agent open up their bow case and opened up his container of broad heads and threw the Broadheads back into the bow case and one of them cut his cables 1/4 way thru.
When I hunt Kansas I drive the 21 hours. First off it costs Way too much money to bring a lot of stuff on the plane including a back up bow and in Eastern Kansas end of Oct beginning of November it could be 70° or it could be below 25°
So I like to bring by early, mid and late season Sitka gear.
Just way easier driving. However it’s not always feasible if you don’t have the time.
Sometimes I have no choice but to fly.
I use Large SKB I series cases.
The large holds my bow plus a lot of my clothes/gear.
And always have 2 bow cases with me

    • @WillsGoneWalkabout
      @WillsGoneWalkabout 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Mate that sucks for your buddy. I have found being proactive and walking the TSA through what is in the case, and explaining how delicate it is has worked for me. You'll always have someone that doesn't care and will do what they want, but if you can get ahead of it all the better.

Yeah and it definitely matters where you are from. I’m from New Jersey and fly out of Newark airport. That place is straight up ghetto. Nobody gives a crap about anything. If I fly out of Allentown PA airport it’s a totally different world. Unfortunately a lot of flights do not leave out of Allentown so I don’t always have that option. And considering how much it costs for luggage I try to drive If I have the time for the traveling. If I do fly I don’t keep my Broadheads in my bow case.

I also went with the Pelican Air Bow Case. I haven't flown with it yet and am curious of the experiences for a out and back with airport security. Should be easier than travelling with rifles and ammo.

Rob, I have flown with my bow a couple of times and had zero issues. In Jackson Wyoming they even put it behind the check in counter when I arrived as an added security measure so someone else didn't walk off with my gear. In Houston Texas they had a dedicated area holding it until I arrived. Zero questions at either other than show us your ID to verify it is yours. Good luck on your trip mate.

Anyone know where the pelican cases are made? They are pretty nice I seen them recently at one of the archery shops in my area. I’m a huge SKB guy. The SKB cases are heavier which may matter when paying for luggage on a plane. I don’t know how much it would matter though

why are you donating knives to security? they actually can store them or you can ship them back to your address.
I've had to do that a few times in the past when I forgot my Chris Reeves on me. I just walked out of the line went to the shipping area grab the padded envelope and shipped it off.
presume it's going to depend on what airport yet but a lot of them have that option.
