A wealth of knowledge! One extra thing I do when I fly with my bow is to put one of those long (15") red rubber coated cable locks through a riser cutout and around the string to prevent the bow from being drawn. You could also loop the lock through a cam a couple times. A buddy flew to Redding a few years back and found that his bow had been drawn and dry fired at some point between dropping it off with TSA and retrieving it from baggage claim. Just a little bit of insurance
Heading to Illinois from Vermont October 28th. I was thinking about wrapping my bow in all of my Sitka gear and putting it in a huge duffle with my other clothes. Thanks for this video brother.
New to bow hunting here but coming from the firearm community , one thing commonly done now is throwing an AirTag or two in your case or ON your bow or expensive gear . Having the piece of mind of being able to watch and track your gear is worth it . We invest a lot in our gear and cases , less than 100$ for a pack of AirTags .
When I bought my new bow this year I bought the SKB iseries cases for my new bow and my old bow. I hated my cheap Plano bow case that started falling apart the day I started using it. I love how they lock together when stacked, Its nice when I have both bows with me in the bed of my truck. This is def my go to case for bows now.
Did a trip from Zürich to JFK with all my bow and arrow stuff. The Officer just asked " goin huntn? Have fun!" That was it. As a German, I expected way more questions. Totally relaxed situation.
Hey JJ. You have become a very valuable source of information and inspiration to me in my archery journey. I find your channel very informative and interesting. I'm currently shooting a Bear Optimus but seriously looking at upgrading to possibly an Elite. The adjustability in the field seems like a great idea. Keep the videos coming. Thanks
This is some very good information. And one bada__ case. Being able to lock the case is a must for me. I have a buddy that used to work at O'hare airport in Chicago and he said that you better lock your checked baggage, because things tend to come up missing pretty much on every flight. You keep showing me all these cool things that I now must save my money so I can buy them. LOl. I still haven't gotten the money up for the Epsilon that you recommended.
I wish this wouldve came out like a month ago. I flew for the first time with my bow, and DTW was a nightmare. they freaked out when I said bow, sent me to the specialty line, the specialty line said no go back to the normal line, and the normal line said to go to specialty. After an hour of walking back and forth, I just dropped my bag off at the conveyer and walked away. do you take your sight off? since hoyt as the pic rail, I was thinking it was safer to take the pic sight off while flying.
I bought a pelican V730 for my SS34. I hadn’t really planned on flying with it, but I’m starting to consider it more now. For under 200 bucks, I don’t think you can beat it. The pelican seems very well made. It took a dump off of my atv pretty hard and only got a few scratches. I’m not sure it’s SKB I series tough though. I have no idea if it’s ideal to fly with in all honesty. Seems like you’d have to be intentionally trying to break it, to cause any issues. If I could do it again, I’d buy another pelican for 188 bucks. May still buy an SKB eventually too
It’s easy to fly with. I used a V730 and flew to and from TAC in Utah flying Delta. I put zip ties through 2 of the locking holes because I’ve heard they often just cut the locks off anyway. They weren’t cut, they didn’t inspect the case at all, and everything was fine. I was asked twice, once going there and once coming back, if it was a gun. I said no, and that was the end of it.
Is there a company that a person can buy better arrow holders for the compound bow case like the firm rubber ones that you can screw or bolt on to the inside lid of the bow case ?
I’d like to know too. SKB used to sell their foam arrow holders separately, and they worked well in comparison to everything else. They quit selling them separately early 2022. I haven’t found anything worth a crap since and carry my arrows in a separate Easton arrow box
@@MostlyPeacefulCombatVet thanks for the info I guess I’ll have to fabricobble something as I’ve got the soft foam in the top lid of my bow case and it is not very good for holding stuff
Do you have to take off your sight to get the bow to fit? That was my biggest issue with some of the hard cases on the market. I've heard some people like to use a hybrid case like the BowTruk because TSA gives people less hassle since it looks like regular luggage, and it has storage of clothes and more, but I worry those aren't as durable.
Depends on the quiver. If it's tight enough to the bow it will. I have a Hoyt with the 2 piece quiver, and it fits no problem in the SKB iSeries bow case.
I have a trophy ridge hex light and I take it off and put it where he has his arrow case. It's a bit tight but it works. Also having a 10" stab with a 10° down QD let's me keep it on when I put it in the case
Have you ever seen how they handle luggage? They throw bags. If you are willing to have your bow broken no issues. If you're going to fly, buy a hard case like SKB. I have one from 20 years ago. I use it with firearms as well. Great investment. 👍 Good luck.
If I can drive there that’s what I’m doing can’t see it all from the air I just tell work I’ll be back when I get back, but still a good case is important no matter how you travel ✌🏻👍🇺🇸
Same here. I drove to Colorado from vermont, and I drive to Kansas every year. 24 hours. It's not that bad. Save money on not having to rent a truck and all that.
Be prepared to show ID to pick up at baggage claim. 2 years flying florida to wisconsin, plano case with extra strap and packed extea clothes for cushioning. No problems, Southwest airlines.

You do NOT need tsa locks. Any lock will do and non tsa locks means they can’t open without you present.
Thank you for sharing this great information 👍

Good information for people. Thanks
That case looks solid
How about doing a review of the Easton bowtruk. Thank you.
Would you recommend skb for a whitetail guy trying to get his platform and sticks along with his bow and clothes all into one case?
Great info!
Do use have this on your website I’m definitely interested and do they come in orange
Like the info,thanks

Where do you pack your broadheads?

Regular extra bag charge or is this the oversized fee to fly domestic on most airlines?

Thanks, "My friend Josh Jones"!😂
Do u have this cases in stock
I forgot to shut my tailgate during a trip. Mine survived with just some road rash
If I have a quiver on my bow is there enough room to leave it on in this case?
Depends on the quiver. If it's tight enough to the bow it will. I have a Hoyt with the 2 piece quiver, and it fits no problem in the SKB iSeries bow case.

Im driving through spokane on the 8th of september.. Just waiting for my phonecall for one of those bows😁😁😁
What do you think of the bow truck ?
If a guy were to use a soft case and pack clothes and gear around the bow. Do you think there would be an issue with that route?
Have you ever seen how they handle luggage? They throw bags. If you are willing to have your bow broken no issues.
If you're going to fly, buy a hard case like SKB.

I would also zip tie the string/cable so it can't be dry-fired! 😉

When are you going to call me for the bow giveaway?… 😂
Could you do a video like this if a guy or gal was flying with hand gun and bear spray and bow
I am ready to fly my winning bow back Smiley Face
You actually do not need TSA approved locks
Hope to put this to use by winning a giveaway bow!!
If I win one of them bow giveaways I'll get to fly with a bow lmao
That’s what I’ve got
1st to the party
Drinking beer, late at night in the southern hemisphere has its advantages...
As a veteran, mil-spec can be highly overrated. Everything else piques my interest.
was hoping to fly with a bow from your shop I won lol have not heard much on your giveaways
