I love Avery but he sometimes struggles with interpreting songs, when he sings his own music you can feel the emotion but, especially songs like this where the vocal choices by the original artist were so deliberate you really lose the emotion when you deliver it the he does. He is so concerned with vocal acrobatics that he loses the essence of the song. Jennifer has a big voice and also often uses riffs/runs/embellishments but she knows how to place them appropriately, she is an expert at bringing out the emotion in a song, he can learn a lot from her. Also, it annoyed me that he felt the need to have the last note like it was some sort of competition. He is great and slowly gaining popularity but Jennifer has already been through that struggle and earned that recognition, lean back bro and show some humility.
