    You really only have to spray the egg chamber a touch...then use a silicone brush to spread the oil around. If you spray the other chambers you can burn the muffins.

    • @Sharkie626

      Yeah after some future uses I did spray less than the initial times, didn't have any issues with burnt muffins though.

    You did an excellent job with this review these breakfast sandwiches are my favorites in the morning I have the single one and I also bought one that just makes an egg with no bread that works terrific no splatter on the stove for fried egg. Hint if you like the English muffin a little more crunchy in the middle you could toast it in the toaster using the bagel setting so just the inside of the English muffin gets toasted because the machine does a good job with the very bottom of the English muffin and the very top of the English muffin but the middle is not toasted.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah I was very impressed with this. I actually don’t like things toasted too much. That being said, the outsides of the muffin had like the perfect firmness to them.

    Any Millennial can order 2 Egg McMuffins to be delivered via UberEats in much less than 5 minutes. To make your own is sublime! You know exactly what went into it because you made it. You enjoyed the process, and the proof of course is in the eating, then leave the dishes for mommy. Sorry, had to put something in there.
    Happened to have English Muffins this morning, just toasted in the toaster as we happen to be out of eggs, and Aldi's on the way tomorrow. I'll have to pick up some more, and have to make English Muffin Pizzas. I bet the sandwich maker could do that pretty well too.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you just assume the gender of my dishwasher??
      It really was pretty fun to cook these. It'll be easier all the future times since I won't have to record it. Occasionally I do like the different taste of the McDonalds sandwiches. But of course I don't go there as much as I used to, and with how often I went there back in college, any amount of times is less than that, haha.
      Those English muffin pizzas sound pretty cool! Maybe we could try that the next time you are here.

      Har har!
      Haven't been to a McDonald's in YEARS. Many years. I'm not upset about it either.
      They are good, really good! They're so good that as soon as a batch come out, they're polished off faster than another can be made! On New Years Eve I made a couple batches of those and kept them on my warming trays, that worked out well.

    Dishwasher Sani-cycle is not a gimmick. It typically runs in the final rinse with the wash pump (spray) and the heater running until it achieves 150F to 180F water temperature. This temperature is required in restaurants and bars to kill bacteria which can cause illness. Depending on how warm your incoming water was, it might take a household dishwasher a long time to achieve the required temperature, since there is only one 15A circuit to operate both the heater and the pump motor. The long exposure to hot water spray as the machine reaches the high temperatures required can be ....unfriendly... to dishes and utensils and especially plastic items.
    I use sani-cycle to wash plastic cutting boards and utensils after handling raw poultry or pork or ground beef, baby bottles, etc. In home use, it's obviously not essential for every wash, or else all dishwashers would have it all the time. Use best judgement and turn on sani-cycle if you're washing something you think might be a sanitary issue - or if you just really want a long and hot wash cycle for some other reason. I use it on antique cast iron frying pans I've found in barns and chicken coops. It will take roofing tar off the pan, so I can scrub it with Scotchbrite and re-season it so it never sees the dishwasher again. An old dishwasher installed in the basement or garage is also great for cleaning car parts, painting tools, and the cat's litter box.
    In older dishwashers with mechanical timers, the timer motor is typically disconnected from power (the timer is stopped) until the sanitize thermostat is hot enough to turn the timer motor back on. The dishwasher will then usually turn off the heater, pop the rinse-aid dispenser, run a single timer increment (usually 60 seconds) with the wash pump still running, pause (stop the wash pump motor) and rest for another timer increment, and then drain (steam coming from your sink drain!). After the drain, open the door and let it air dry, which it will do very rapidly. A modern dishwasher with electronic controls will do much the same thing, but since its timer is silent and its timer map is not published on the schematic inside the machine, it might vary the exact order and timing. I have seen one which sprays, then stops the wash pump, waits for the (internal) water heater, sprays a moment, waits for the (internal) water heater; I believe it sprays every couple of minutes to ensure fine glassware doesn't crack due to sudden temperature shock. The key point, however, is that it will achieve a certain temperature during the cycle.
    Commercial dishwashers can usually achieve these temperatures in a few minutes, especially the continuous-feed dishwashers found for glassware in a busy bar, or the conveyor dishwashers in large convention and banquet halls. Batch-feed commercial dishwashers usually have an internal hot water tank ready to blast the dishes, and restaurant hot water heaters are invariably set way hotter than would be safe in domestic use.
    www.nsf.org/consumer-resources/articles/dishwasher-certification
    Note to self: If I get this Hamilton Beach sandwich maker, I will not use sani-cycle. It's probably unnecessary anyway as the meat clearly has to be pre-cooked.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still think it's unnecessary because dishwashers already do a cycle in the final rinse where the water is heated up to a higher temperature to sanitize. I get that it might be longer, but between this cycle ,and already what the detergents were doing, I don't think there's much to worry about.

    The lid does not close with all plates in position. This is not while cooking. The lid almost immediately hits the top rings and will go no further. I looked at the lid to see if there was a higher setting but couldn’t find it. All videos, etc., don’t show how todo this, so I’m clearly doing something wrong. What’s the secret?

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, maybe the rings weren't installed correctly?

    • @stephenfurkay6378
      @stephenfurkay6378 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A reasonable guess, though the rings/plate seem to be seated properly. The upper ring seats into the hinge of the lid - is there more than one way to do that? I’ll review everything again and see what I can find. I’m clearly doing something wrong. Thanks...

    No need to add all those chemicals with the PAM. spray. It really is a no stick surface and by using PAM you actually break down that coating so eventually you will always have to use it.
