      Great to hear back from you about your purchase.
      They are actually pretty good units for the price.
      Of course not small money to pay.
      But, well worth the asking price.
      Especially IF you just want to do a limited number of parts.
      I have found.
      Best not to spend too much as you actually start to use them less as time goes on.
      All the best with it.
      Thanks for your reply 🙂👍

    I’ve just come across this video. The first thing I’m really noticing is that the timer is an OMRON. Honestly, those are expensive. I have a few. It’s hard to believe they used a genuine OMRON in this model as it would be almost 20% of the total cost.

      @weldmachine  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be honest, the Timer is something that could have been let off this Positioner ??
      I guess the manufacturer was trying to add as many options available to help it sell a little easier.
      Thanks for watching 👍

      @@weldmachine all the Chinese models in this size and larger have one. I’m with you in this, I’m not sure how useful it is. The footswitch has always seemed to be fine. But possibly if I were TIG welding, having two footswitches to hassle with would be too much.

      @melgross Yes, 2 foot pedals can be a pain.
      Especially when you didn't have a good night sleep.
      And your brain is trying to work out which pedal to press 😅
      You can also connect a wire to the trigger and start the Positioner at the same time as you begin Welding.
      Usually, when I Tig Weld, I just leave it latched on continuous 👍

    Hey do the Chuck opens up wide?
    Working on 5” aluminum tubing.

      The Chuck Jaws will fit a part that's 5".
      Even larger if you reverse the Chuck Jaws 👍

      Hey Aaron.
      I somehow missed this comment ??
      Nothing to much to show in this video, more so the Electrical Insulation problem that i found with my positioner that could be a concern for others that might buy the same unit.
      Thanks for watching.
      Peter.

    Seems like some rubber feet, or a rubber base on the bottom of the control box would have been a nice factory feature along with the isolating stand offs, but it's still super cool.

      @weldmachine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey John.
      To tell you the truth not sure how the power is finding its way back to the control box ??
      But i did have thoughts this could happen as mentioned back in the first video.
      With the earth connection on the main body it's Not as insulted as it seems ????
      Other than this fairy small issue the Welding Positioner has been working well enongh.

      Hey Lloyd.
      After posting 2 previous videos about this Welding Positioner, it seemed like a good idea to come back and post a genuine Owner Review of the Good & the Bad i have found so far.
      Could be handy information to know if someone is looking to buy one.
      Thanks again for watching.
      Peter.

    For $500 this thing has got to have the worst electronics available on the market. If I get the cheapest motor and DC drive available, it costs me about $300 for the parts alone. And it will have virtually no torque at all on the low speed, so make sure your amps are as high as you can get 'em if you're welding something heavy!
    That said, every time you blow something out is an opportunity to replace it with a higher-quality component.

      For the asking price, it was the right choice at the time.
      I never planned to be using it that often mostly why I decided to buy this version.
      The next step up from this Positioner would be the Profax Welding Positioner.
      At an extra $1000 plus it was a bit more than what I was prepared to spend.
      IF I planned to use a Positioner a few times a week I would have purchased the Profax version.
      I did have similar thoughts to what you mentioned about replacing electronic parts as needed.
      But, I wasn't to concerned with upgrades ??
      More so just replacing the same items IF needed.
      Most Electronics shops have the exact same parts available.
      It hasn't happened as yet, but also I don't really use it that often.
      I guess in summary.
      You always buy what you can afford or can justify buying.
      IF I had the same choice again ??
      I wouldn't buy a Welding Welding Positioner.
      They sort of remind me of 3D Printers ??
      Some people have a use for them.
      But, most people just them and never really use them that much.
      Thanks for watching the video.
      Hopefully the information was useful 👍

    Is there a threw hole for purging?

    • @weldmachine
      @weldmachine  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      NO through hole ??
      I needed to do a fair few modifications on the version I purchased just to have a through hole.
      There is a video on my channel if you're interested 🤔
      I plan to post another video soon. Answering questions that have come up on past videos might be worth watching if you're looking to buy the same Welding Positioner 👍

    Hi are the box mounts made of rubber?

    • @weldmachine
      @weldmachine  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The standard mounts on the Positioner are made of Steel.
      But, I have replaced them with Delrin / Nylon. 👍

    do you have a link to the positioner? thanks for the vid

    • @weldmachine
      @weldmachine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rick.
      Not sure any link i could give you might help ??
      I purchased this Welding Positioner from a local reseller Not directly from China.
      I did this for a few reasons ??
      Speed of delivery.
      Local contact IF something went wrong ?
      I did purchase this Positioner with a hand piece support as most are shown on ebay.
      But i did Not receive this part with my purchase.
      I contacted the reseller, after a few days they came back to me with a cannot supply this part, answer ?
      In the end they credited me roughly the price of the missing part.
      Some people have asked me previously about a link for this Positioner.
      The best i can recommend is go on to ebay and do a quick search of Welding Positioners.
      I say this mostly because of the above reason and you might find a better deal without the link i could provide.
      Hopefully this helps.
      Regards Peter.

    My boss uses one of these and it fried today. I'd bet money on it that current fucked out the micro controller! Those controllers are only needed because the Chinese chose to use a BLDC motor and therefore requiring all the complex bullshit of boards and speed control along with shitty metal connectors FFS.
    Way over kill to turn a wheel at crawling pace!
    It's not churning into cutters with huge load? Why the complex motor setup? A power drill with two sewing machine pedals (1 forward 1 backwards) and two power safety switches (for dickheads that oops I pressed both pedals at the same time)
    On a decent reduction pully or even cut the one off it came with pull keyway or what ever. Find correct ID steel rod/shaft. Cut keyway.. Attach existing head onto the rod. Put the shaft in the chuck.
    Mount drill in place of big BLDC motor using a bracket and bobs ya aunty you got a cheap replacement wheel welding table that shouldn't blow up with extra current because the housing is actually protected against that from happening in contact with human body.... Laugh at my ghetto solution but it will work because these do not and are merely designed for westerners to keep spending money on shit that is poorly designed.
    This is so shit that the failures work in China's favour. Basically keep getting them to spend money on new controllers etc etc. Because of the choice of motor?
    Cheapo ozito drill from Bunnings. It craps out? Throw it in the bin and get another one..... But it won't crap out!
    Oh and 1 last thing if you read this far? Don't forget the zip tie to hold the trigger pulled in 👍

    • @Jarmezrocks
      @Jarmezrocks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll post video of a ghetto bead roller using a ozito drill that crapped all over name brand engineering built piece of shit..... That all stuffer from the same bullshit China built fail. They over power shit like this.... Then under power other shit just as bad? Then they cheat by using Chinese man magic circuit boards of bullshit to over complicate shit..... In their favour.
      Don't worry I'm going to suggest to the boss to use the BLDC motor for a spindle driver on a small CNC 😉
