    Nice looking tent, just ordered mine. Also looks like the footprint for a TNF trailhead 9…had ours for 16 years, great tent! Same problem with the rain fly, started to de-laminate, got very brittle…tent was still in great condition, and still have it.

    Just bought this tent and installed it in the backyard to practice setting it up. We are novices at setting up a tent and wish Big Agnes had detailed video on how to set it up. They have written instructions in text only. I have questions about the stakes and how to
    Best use these since there are no hooks on them. It was quite easy to set it up and will get easier with time as we become familiar with putting up a tent :-). The model shown in the video is different from what we got. We did get the 6 person tent but there no longer is a rug included for the entrance. Colors are slightly different as well.

    I love Big Agnes, and have a lot of their gear. WE bought a Bunkhouse 4 to take on a 10 day river trip last May (Utah). I liked that I could mostly stand up in it, but didnt like that I had to do 18 stakes to set it up, and also thought the ventilation was lacking, got stuffy inside...

      @padlnjones 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@efremtubefpv hi, I say that because we spent 10 days in it in the Utah sun, highs in the 80s, and with the fly on there was no air passing thru the tent and it was stuffy inside. Obviously having the front door and vestibule open helps... I will sell you mine for $300 if u r interested...

  • @w1redl1fe
    @w1redl1fe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How are you liking it with no windows? The vestibule entry enough window or too big lacking privacy? I have the first edition wawona 6 from The North Face, and I like a lot, I do like that your vestibule go to the ground! That’s the one thing about the wawona 6 that bothers me, so many bee’s get stuck from flying under. I’ll have to add fabric to the bottom.

    • @janeteric8594
      @janeteric8594  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The windows front and back under the vestibules provide good ventilation and can be zipped up part way. Privacy isn't much of an issue depending on neighbors. The front is tucked back far enough that it creates a narrow view into the interior from the outside but provides an ok view from inside the tent or the vestibule. The sides of the front vestibule can also be rolled back to give a wider view. We bought this model for its full fly because of the conditions we camp in. The skirts are great at preventing splash back. Most of the time it is paired with a 15x15 or 10x10 screen house. We also rarely have neighbors to the front or back. Thank you for your questions. Hope this helps.

  • @chomp54321
    @chomp54321 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is very spacious, but how's the ventilation with the fly all zipped up? Also, it seems there is no cross breeze other than front-to-back if the fly is put on and both ends are open. Am I correct? Thanks.

    • @janeteric8594
      @janeteric8594  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ventilation is limited with the vestibules zipped down, some air does get pulled from the bottom sides as long as you have it staked out. Most of your airflow comes from the vestibules being open. This tent is more like a three and a half season tent featured for rougher weather. If ventilation is the main concern I would go with a tent that does not have a full fly.

      We have been in the adk through some microbursts but not with this tent. The vertical walls and tall height definitely require the use of all of the guy-out points. Poles are sturdy and guy-outs are well placed so I am sure it will hold up in moderate wind (below tree line stuff). Thanks for checking out the video.

    I just bought this tent for my son and I. I'm a widow and he's a small 6.5yr old boy. He's not gonna be able to help much with this part. I was watching your video and with you facing the tent, you inserted left to right, right to left, then center. Then anchor the center pole. Then anchor the corner poles. Did you do so because that makes the poles easier to get through the sleeves? Also, if you still have this tent would you consider asking your wife to demonstrate what it would look like for a single woman to put it up by herself? I know it's not ideal but I also know it's possible. It would be a big help if somebody who's familiar with the tent demonstrated.

    Curious about ventilation. We live in southern California and temps can be in the 80's during the day and drop to the 40's at night. Having a tent that runs kind of hot is fine during the night, but if you're trying to catch a nap in the afternoon it'll be a furnace.

    • @janeteric8594
      @janeteric8594  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This tent has a full fly, mesh body and large mesh doors for good ventilation. If it gets that hot and privacy is not an issue you can pull the fly off and expose the mesh top of the tent body. The best way to deal with day-time heat is to pitch your tent in the shade and angle the doors in the direction of the wind.

    Is there enough height to use stacked cots. Like the disco beds?

    • @janeteric8594
      @janeteric8594  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shouldn't be an issue, I believe the disco bunks you usually see for camping are only 36" tall when stacked (add 2' for little clearance above the top bunk). I am 5'10'' and can walk to where the wall meets the roof. Thank you for checking out the video.

    Janet & Eric, how'd this hold up for you? I have a four person tent that our family has out grown but looking at something in the six person rated range. Would this tent sleep four adults and a few backpacks/gear no problem? Or would that be a stretch? I have two younger kids but with this price tag I would hope this tent last until they are in their teens. Thanks for making the video, and your help.

    • @tommieboi707
      @tommieboi707 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you want a tent to sleep 4 adults and be comfortable then you might want to check out tents sold in the UK market. Check out the vango stargrove 600 tent. Around 600 dollars but way bigger than this tent in the video.

    • @janeteric8594
      @janeteric8594  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't see any issue sleeping 4 adults and gear. The front vestibule is plenty big for 4 backpacks. Now if you each want to sleep on a queen size mattress....the answer is No. My experience is tents last based on use and care. If you have them pitched in the sun for a long time, UV kills them, if you pack them in a stuff sack wet and dirty again, NO GOOD. Keep them clean and dry when not in use, properly treat them with uv spray and don't store them in their stuff sack and they will last you for a long time.

This is a 3 season tent so it should work great for your Yellowstone trip. With the full fly and good venting it will also work for sub alpine winter trips. Big wind and heavy snow loads above tree line will be a problem best solved by a 4 season tent.

    I just purchased a Big Agnes Bunk House 6, but your tent and setup appears to be for the "Big House" not the "Bunk House". My tent poles came as a main "double-hub" pole and a single separate cross-pole, but yours has independent poles which matches the "Big House" tent.

      This tent is the bunk house, but the newest model (2023+) has redesigned poles, maybe that's why. New model also doesn't have the grey roof or welcome mat. The big house differs as the fly doesn't cover all of the sides, the inner tent is also partly weather proof, but single skin.
