    How to reduce that spikes:
    1. Savory breakfast instead of sweet.
    2. 1 tbsp vinegar in water before eating carbs.
    3. Add veggie starter for lunch or dinner.
    4. 10 minutes walk after having heavy carbs.

      Remember, if you don't eat glucose (a.k.a. carbs) at all, you won't get blood glucose spikes.
      Consuming protein will elevate blood glucose, but it will do so at a significantly lower and slower rate/gram.
      Furthermore, your son's liver will produce exactly the right amount of glucose he needs at exactly the right time through a process called *_gluconeogenesis._*
      "Gluco" = glucose
      "neo" = new
      "genesis" = make or create
      So, "make new glucose" is what gluconeogenesis means.
      Your son's liver will take *_PROTEIN_* and convert it to glucose whenever his body needs it.
      So, while "dressing" carbs is good at reducing blood glucose spikes, skipping on the carbs altogether is that much *_better._*
      Look into Dr. Bernstein for videos and literature on Low/No carb eating for T1 diabetes.

      Go and see a Registered Dietician or Nutritionist rather than listen to someone who has debatable credentials to offer nutrition advice.
      There is little proper evidence to suggest that wearing a CGM for people without blood sugar issues works.

      I was diagnosed pre-diabetic on 12hr fast no food. It was worth it for me. Would never have believed that rolled oats 1/2 banana and soaked chia would spike my reading from 5.2 to 10.4😮 without the glucose monitor. 2 bean healthy rusks with coffee spiked my glucose the next morning from 5.6 to 10.8. Was my easy go to b/f😢Changed my breakfast 2 boiled egs 1 tomato and an apple with coffee low 6.7. Just had 3 cracker breads loaded with avo, 8 nuts for fat, 1 x kiwi glass of 6.1 at 35 min later will check in an hour.

      @@simongarner5340it's working for me. Just saying....
      I was diagnosed with pre at 5.6. Rolled oats, chia banana spike my glucose to over 10 I thought this was healthy. Without the monitor I would never have known. Cut out oats now I'm feeling better no brain fog. But everyone is different. Found out that health rusks are just as bad as well as healthy muffins. Spiked my glucose on an empty stomach from 5.4 to over 10 and 11😮. Glad I did it for a month.

    Thanks Jessie. I love your work! I've been using the hacks for about 8 months and absolutely love them. I transitioned from the keto diet, which I was on for 2 years, but my body needed a change. So now I'm eating healthy carbs and using these hacks, and I've lost weight. I have the same high energy I had on keto, but I'm not as restricted. And I now enjoy, on the odd occasion, some fruit or even ice cream as a dessert. I'm a coach, and recommending these hacks to many of my clients experiencing many of these symptoms. I'm just about to turn 40, and I have more energy now than I did at 30, contributing to many changes I've made over the years, but the nutrition part has been massive, and that's been about a 3-year transition.

The scientific studies she cites are highly anecdotal, if not outright false, or not applicable to what she proposes."[3]

    Thank you Glucose Goddess! You are the best! I have signed up for your emails and you bring fresh air to this stale environment. Our family started using your 10 hacks. We've always learned towards savory breakfasts and now know why they work so well. We've changed to eating veggies first, then protein, then carbs. You are so right, you can still eat what you eat but just change the order and we can tell the difference, no glucose spike! Eat sweets as dessert, not a snack! Your words of wisdom have changed our lives. None of us are diabetic and I believe this will help to keep up healthier! Keep going!❤❤❤

    Hi, I’m 22 and a huge fan from Mongolia. Thank you so much for everything you are doing for us, and understanding the correlation of glucose with not only weight but also mood and fatigue was really the missing piece of my health routine. I would really love it if you talk about the brain fog thing more. Because I heard your story with depersonalization and how understanding glucose was the key to solve it. For me, I have also been suffering from depersonalization for the past 2 years, and after listening to your interview in DOAC, I went for a month of zero sugar and starchy foods which really elevated my symptoms. However, I’d really love it if you talk deeply into it. Thank you so much!

      He is the Director of the Department of Postgraduate and Continuing Education at McLean Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
      His career centers around how glucose interacts with our brains, and how it relates to cognitive performance (brain fog) and mental health.

    My A1C was high; very close to being pre-diabetic. I read your book and began trying out the hacks. I found that a savory breakfast and veggies before a meal work the best for me! This journey also took me to trying out a CGM [continuous glucose monitor], which has taught me a lot [in part how I know which hacks work the best for me], but it's also made me realize that so much of our diets cause spikes. I cannot dress up pasta [even when I make fresh pasta] or rice enough [and I tried freezing the rice too] for it to bring down the spike it induces. I'm wondering if it's just me [my body composition, other genetic factors] or if other people experience the same thing. I'm willing to give up rice, it isn't that tasty to me, but I loathe giving up pasta. Oh, I found that risotto didn't spike me! That could be the combination between the fat, protein, and carbs.

      Just got my first CGM. First thing I found and I think my main problem was oatmeal, crazy spike and then drop to hypo levels. I ate it every day. Then I noticed it I took the oatmeal out and had like bacon, eggs, hash and one toast it spiked less? Then the rest of the day was better. Also then I could lift weight without the BS drop. Which was bad when eating oatmeal. I have so much to learn ugh. I don’t want to cut carbs too much I lose weight and I’m tall and slim with some muscle.

      Wash the rice 7 times . I can’t do any pasta or any breads anymore. Only bread I can handle is organic and small amount of French bread and i have to eat it with a protein .

    Damn, I'm a chocoholic! Like decades ago I read Sugar Blues by William Dufty (a great book revealing much more than how bad sugar is for you) and quit eating sugar for 6 months. Now, a ridiculous length of time later I'm still chocowholing, in spite of that i met a 95 yr old man, of all sexes (yes there is only two), who said the secret to his looking so good thru his longevity was he hadn't eaten sugar in decades. Still I've been munchin' it till today, THANKS GREATLY TO YOU and this glycation talk. I'd only heard sugar whiplashes the pancreas. You'd think that'd be enuf! Well hopefully this is.

      Ils ne te demandent jamais combien d'heures tu as jeûné.

      Unless you have blood sugar issues blood sugar spikes are not the enemy. They are a perfectly normal bodily function.

    Yes, they do take blood from the hand if they can't get arm, but it's not the preferred spot due to nerves that are hard to miss so it can really hurt if blood is taken from hand.
