Within the first minute of the video, Brodie says that these are prices in Stubhub (most people know they are a reseller) and that the prices can go up and down. Regardless of actual ticket prices or resell ticket prices, $1200 is way too much for an A’s game at a minor league park for a regular season game. And yes, I assume the prices will drop eventually.
All sfdko3291 said was that you could fly to and from NY and watch a game for that price. So there’s no need to act like everyone else is dumb and you are somehow superior.

We will see if those prices last very long. What is the attraction to go see them play other than saying you saw a major league team play in a minor league park? If the team plays poorly and the stadium gets as hot as you mentioned they will be lucky if they can even get the prices the minor league gets. These tickets are outrageously expensive by baseball standards - I paid about $200 + fees for a very good, lower level seat just beyond third base for Saturday night's Yankees - Royals playoff game. Also note that there is no open, web based public sale of A's tickets by the A's; the website directs you to call them for season ticketing opportunities. I assume these tickets are being offered for sale by a few people who bought season tickets and are testing the waters. We'll have to wait until single tickets go on sale later to really get a sense of pricing - there's no doubt they will be higher than in Oakland due to the novelty factor and the much smaller seating capacity.

At these Ticket Prices, I think John Fisher is trying to accomplish something never seen in team sports history…
The total combined Gross Income of Fans with a ticket purchased is higher than the total combined Gross Income of the Home Team Roster during a game.
If John Fisher can pull this off in 81 home games per season in a 3 year period while in Sacramento, then the rest of us sports fans are damn stupid.

Brodie: Interesting take on ticket revenue. Here's my thought: recently I looked up how much each team receives in revenue sharing and TV revenue before they even open the gates. If the numbers were correct, all teams except the top ten in salary could meet their salary obligations without selling a ticket! So, why do we still have to hear about small market teams not being able to compete or teams like the A's potential charging 4 or 5 times what other teams are charging for tickets? Thanks for your insights into this and other topics. A big fan of your videos.

I live in Sacramento and would like to see the novelty of a major league team playing in a small ballpark, but not at those prices. That said, I could see others paying that much. There will be some people coming from the Bay Area, some locals, some people from Las Vegas who want to see their new team, and the people from around the country who want to see their teams playing in a small ballpark. Will those numbers add up to 10,000 per night? Maybe.

Not sure how this works, but do the A’s get a cut of the ticket resale?
Or does the ticket holder pocket the difference over face value?
There’s not a bad seat in the house at Sutter Health with excellent sight lines. You’re really on top of the action.
The Coliseum was nifty before Mt. Davis although the massive foul territory kept us fans back somewhat.
I suspect fans will sellout game’s throughout their stay here. Sacramento is a baseball town and fans have a high tolerance for losing. The loyalty to the Kings over the years is proof of that concept.
Fisher needs to sell and Oakland got the shaft. Bottom line is Northern California deserves two MLB teams. Full stop. Preferably in Oakland of course. I can only hope we can complicate the move or at least get MLB attention.
In the meantime, bring the hometown Sactown heroes back to the A’s: Dusty out of retirement, Logan Webb, Rowdy Tellez, Mauricio Dubon, Rhys Hoskins and James Outman. That would be fun!

I'm curious to see how the TV ratings fair if MLB schedules games with a 10am start time. Will advertisers pull their ads? Will NBC Sports cut their losses after a season? When will the Player's Union step in? Most people in Sac won't consider shelling out a mortgage payment for a baseball game. Sac is Kings territory

Such a fascinating report. To me it would be demeaning to pay these kind of prices for a ticket, doesn't matter whether I could easily afford the money. To pay those prices is to be used, even humiliated. Prediction--you will say fanciful--John Fisher will sell the team before the sojourn in Sacramento is complete. Nothing is going to work for Fisher. The Sacramento ballpark, the majority of the time will be mostly empty. As you point out, at many of those prices it would be cheaper to take an airplane to other cities to see the the A's. One more prediction, assuming that the A's subsequently get to Las vegas: The people of Las Vegas won't want them. They too, will feel used, are already feeling imposed upon. The major of Las Vegas having said the A's should stay in Oakland; in that there is a foreboding. She was more than trying to show a kindness. Thank you for the report.
