    Mr. Moran:
I still play both Squad Leader and ASL though not regularly. The last Squad Leader game I played was a Battle of Velikiye Luki scenario with two old gaming buddies of mine this summer past. We used the Blind Squad Leader rules published in the AH General Magezine many, many years ago.
In the mid to late 1980's I began to play tabletop miniature wargames in 6mm and 15mm and moved away from boardgames but every now and again the old itch comes back and needs scratching. Then some of the classic boardgames come out. like Squad Leader/ASL, Taskforce, Wooden Ships and Iron Men, Trireme and Galley, Terrible Swift Sword, Aorforce/Dauntless, Wellington's Victory, Caesar at Alesia, etc.
Thanks for the video. It brought back great memories and now I'm eyeing the Squad Leader/ASL boxes on the shelf in he basement. It seems an odd choice but perhaps a nice game of Red Barricades over the holiday season break might happen!.
    Cheers and good gaming.

Completely agree about not moving to ASL. I play numerous board games and once in a while my friends and I get an itch to play a tactical game and SL is just fine. I do have Cross of Iron but the other two expansions which I own, I have never played them. The boxes are a little worn from just being moved and looked at and pulled out from the shelf but inside the counters (unpunched ) maps and rules are mint. Having watched this video I will randomly pick a scenario from COD and clip those counters !!!

Enjoyed the video. No matter how many other games I play I always go back to SL a few times a year. Warta Line is a fun scenario. I’ve played it a couple of times, may have to put it on the table again. For other tactical games I would recommend Old School Tactical by Flying Pig Games. Has a bit of SL feel but updated and plays well solo.

I just finished up Battle of the Warta Line (U 15) from ASL. Great scenario!
By the way, the leap to ASL isn't as great as one would think. Also, you need to upgrade to the 4th edition of the Squad Leader rules :)
    Thanks for posting this!

Thanks David. I might one day get the ASL starter kit and your right about 4 edition. Mine is falling apart.

@@seanmorangamingwiththecolo513 The ASL/ASL SK community is quite active. With Virtual ASL (VASL), it makes gaming that much more available.
And with the SK, there is no need to get into full-rules ASL. Plenty of people just play the Starter Kits.

I am probably going to have to eventually get something like that. The boxes are busting at the seams

You would like Band of Brothers from Worthington. Solid system. I'm trying to get Last 100 Yards on the table because I hear it's also a great tactical game.

I am sorry to say that I don't have anything from Worthington yet. I am interested in Band of Brothers and their American Revolution games.

I agree; I have the same game set for the original SL as you do and it is a satisfying enough tactical game for me. I guess the allure of ASL (and the starter kits) is that it expands the SL world

I hear that. I just don't think I have the time to dedicate to ASL. So many other things I want play.

@@seanmorangamingwiththecolo513 And I don't think the added rules, in the name of simulation, adds very much except to the time it takes to play

Highly recommend Band of Brothers. It fixes many of the issues inherent to the SL system and is way easier to play.
