If i had a nickel for every time a piece was created and first used as the eyes for a group of villainous bionicle character, then was so commonly used elsewhere and given a name that removed its connection to bionicle, is have two nickels. which isnt a lot, but its weird that it happpened twice, right?
Barraki eyes is what he's referencing. The red color is still being produced. Dark blue is retired, however it is now produced in translucent cyan, lime green, orange, solid white and black.
You wanna know a piece that really surprised me? 55236, that one spiky vine piece, actually originated in the 2006 bionicle playsets of all things. Also shoutout to 21560, a ccbs shoulder armor piece that's mostly used today as flower pedals and for printed faces.
I've been absently hoping someone would make this exact video for years now lol, nice work. it's interesting they kept around that mistika wing piece, since the detailed look of it clashes with the increasingly streamlined look of modern technic sets
I also started to notice how many LEGO left parts from Bionicles, they often use them in new Ninjago, Monkey Kid and Dreamzzz sets, and so I wanted to do a challenge and try to assemble a Bionicle only from the technic and those parts that Lego left from them, I also use new elements of armor and weapons from Ninjago mechs. In my posts I post my attempts to do this, it is difficult, but possible.
Given the question 'hmm, are any bionicle pieces still in use?' randomly wandered into my brain 20 minutes ago, your video was excellently timed, thank you!
I think the biggest connection between all of these pieces is their flexibility. Each of them are simple and practical, lacking theme specific details that would hold them back from fitting in situations they weren't intended for. Its much harder to use masks in new ways than it is to use a generic armor/weapon piece, or especially the ball connector.
As long as the old technic ball joint is still around, the Toa Mata will never die! I’ve used at least one of those ball joints in every moc I’ve built. My most recent build is a performance stage with 5 microphones for my MLP pony figures.
If we go purely on number of sets a piece is in the Barraki eye is in over 500. I still think the milage they got from the Bohrok eye is arguably more impressive though.
Bohrok eyes and the ribbed hose actually aren't the same ones from bionicle, the ribbed hose now has a more simple base and the bohrok eyes are emptier inside (they used to have a bubble shape on the inside) now they are just fully empty and about the rahkshi staffs, remember that lerakh's staff was also pretty long lasting as it made an appearance in power miners in orange
From my memory, I think the hose piece has changed slightly from the original. and the Borck eye definitely has changed just slightly with the teeth in it
you forgot a few more details: baljoint socket "yes, I know that this is a part from Slither and not Bionicle, but it's not the point", neck from Toa Hordika and Glatorian neck, pseudo-hydraulics from Titans 2006, rubber spines of Piraka minifigures that are used as vines. LEGO also left details from HERO FACTORY and G2 Bionicle: technic ball socket, claw and claw of the cranial scorpion. And details from action figures of Star Wars: round shoulder pad and 6-sided knee pad.
what surprises me is that the hand connectors are still being used all be it modified and the modified thru axle balls are still being used. Oh and also the Panel that was made for the vehicle sets of 2008.
The zamor spheres were used for Lego chima sets, old Lego ninjago sets like the old gold dragon set which I have to this day, and some other sets I can think of
I thought that the u shaped pin connector with the axle in the middle started out as feet on the slizers/throwbots, not to mention the bulky two axle to ball socket connectors that went on to be used for the the toa Mata. Also, anyone else know that the mata ball was used to make eyes for the mixels

It really isnt that weird dude
The blue Rahkshi staff piece actually made a cameo in the trailer for the Pharrell Williams Lego Movie.

Was really smart of the designer(s) to make the voodoo ball compatible with system stud, which makes it so perfect to be used.

one of Mixels eyes pieces being from Bionicle kinda makes so much sense, legacy wise.
All best LEGO themes are always connected in some way.
Always uncanny seeing the occasional piece still float around in the modern day. A relic of a bygone age
Glad to know that the Zamor spheres still exist, I thought they replaced them for good with the new bigger spheres used in Ninjago sets.
Lovin' the use of Sluggers Rock Raider music.
R R Slugger is the Goat, funny enough I knew him for his music before I watched his rock raider video

Bionicle was the coolest thing Lego ever had.
I feel like the titan pistons and hand connectors deserve a spot, still a valid list.
Hand connecters were actually Slizer.

I always wondered what the oldest bionicle piece still being used was lmao
From my memory, I think the hose piece has changed slightly from the original. and the Borck eye definitely has changed just slightly with the teeth in it
Texture / formula change is common with Lego, but their probably still using the same molds from 07, so I'd still consider it an og part.
The Bohrok eye has different types with the axle hole. Bricklink even mentions this. Besides that, it is still somewhat the same part from 2002
@@maskmakerbuddie2001 yes true to both it’s difficult to say the piece is still around, but it’s only different because of improving upon it
The technic axle connector actually was in the rahi nui jaga set all the way back in 2001. It was used as the face where the eyes were.

Great video man, keep going 👌🏻
I did not know that ball piece was from Bionicle, let alone 2001. Wow.
One of my Favoriten is the barraki eyes
the one bionicle piece that sits at Toa Tahus' heart is still in production
The zamor spheres were used for Lego chima sets, old Lego ninjago sets like the old gold dragon set which I have to this day, and some other sets I can think of
'The last and final piece'
Fun Fact: The Zamor Sphere Launcher was last used in 2014 for two Chima ultrabuild sets
Few pieces from bionicle still innuse are the piraka spine from the bionicle minifigures, and ofcourse the piston pieces from the 06 titans

“It’s suprising but not reallly surprising”
I do wonder if some of these pieces were intended to be used in a lot of different sets
omg i had onua mistika as a kid! he was my first toa
that's actually so sad that they just straight up trashed the bionicle part molds
It kinda makes sense, mold take up room and bionicle seemed like a reboot was unlikely so most molds were scrapped.
Love the video idea but man hearing irony used incorrectly so often was sending me, please just say coincidentally lol
Hmmmm ....oh the coincidentally...
Interesting topic to watch. But the commentary reuses the same piece more often than Lego does
Next vid can you talk about Toa who don’t have any toys and are comic exclusive
Can you tell me more I am not fully aware
@@maskmakerbuddie2001
Idk how to explain it but Toa who only appear in the comics but don’t appear in any Lego sets.
Example: The Toa Mangai (the team that defended metru nui before the Toa metru)
a piece thath i would put on the list or the honorable mentions would be the thornraxx launcher.
Definitely if I make a part 2 it will be shown
They're using the Hero Factory version, not the BIONICLE version.
05:18 The close up of 75188 you chose doesnt have the zamor spheres in frame
I figure since it's a bomber most viewers would assume the amo is inside.
Weren't the Zamor sphere launchers used in Exo Force as well ?
What abt the hand connector? I think i saw it once in the Optimus Prime set, but that was like 2022 and idk if it’s being used in the Bumblebee set
The hand connector recently got a remold so it should still be in use
@@RaiJolt2 ye i was talking abt the remold
why was it remolded tho?
To make it longer lasting maybe?

English isn't my first language, funny enough, sometimes I mess up my wording.
that lego city mech does not have the piece mentioned
I wish the Guurahk staff got some recolors, in production for more than 10 years and only ever in one color? SMH
