Thank you Alan I appreciate that mate, yes sir I figured I'd try something a little bit different - something a little more palatible to general outdoor folks and sort of throw "ham radio spice" in here and there rather than long segments of QSO after QSO after QSO. :) Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Great work, Chris. You’d be shocked by some of the summits just west of Canberra, where there are pine plantations that have replaced the eucalyptus forests. While the pines are small, blackberry vines go mad and infest the entire hill. Several summits that I know of are now unreachable due to the combination of the pine forest (growing them for 40 years then turning them into paper products) and the blackberries. It’s all business. But it ruins the forests for almost anything else as the pines are a monoculture. Nothing else grows under them when they are mature. Nice relaxing video…. Good idea. 73 Andrew VK1DA/VK2UH
It's madness eh! It's incredible how short a period of time it takes for the environment to change in a huge way. We're largely a blank canvas for the things! Thank you mate!
Thats some fancy cinematography there Chris it's fantastic 👌 we have been patiently waiting for you to get back out there and it looks like it was a fantastic time ! I'm stealing that term Bush Bash much better then whacking 😄 I'm glad your sense of humor didn't get any better during lockdown either haha. 9.5/10 also
Haha thank you brother. Honestly bush bashing in NZ is smashing through 6 foot tall brush and hating life, I only use it here because I hear folks in the US say it all the time for anything that is off trail so I'm "aligning my language". :)
When I'm doing SOTA, I think I should take more photos and maybe some videos like Chris. Then I get to the top and I think, bugger that, lets just get setup and get my breath back. I think about doing CW, then I say to myself "I'm so fried from the walk that I'll just do voice..." I watch your videos, then I realise, you walked up, then back down and got the camera and walked back up again! I'm doing well to convince my legs to do it the first time. Maybe I'll get fitter and feel more relaxed about taking more pictures and video one day... All that tree pulling is using up energy ;-) My only sacrifice to carrying extra crap is a machete, which doubles as a walking pole. I should talk to fiskar and get them to modify the handle though. Anyway, great video, keep up the good work.
Hehe it can be useful for clearing on some of the walks. And if i see a snake i can throw the machete over my shoulder as i run away, maybe it'll distract it ;-)
Oh man you must of done some really bad Operating not to show us a single contact. But I understand with Roly watching your every move. Thanks for the pretty scenery. 73 Joe
so I get a very very faint signal last Sunday, have to resort to the earphones to pick it out, it's Roly, comes up to 5-1 but didn't even register on my meter, he gave me the same report. he must be in a very quiet place for radio
We appreciate you too Chris 73
You're the real hero of the story my friend.
“Ever eat a pine tree? Many parts are edible.” Euell Gibbons. (Now I’m really showing my age). Thanks for sharing your adventure 73
Haha really? Geeze the sap in those things is nasty - no doubt it does interesting things to ones digestion! Thank you mate!
I like what you did this time with the focus more on the hiking and nature this time, hopefully it pleases the computing gods

I know this took a lot to make but thank you for doing it.
Thank you brother it was my pleasure, a bit different from the normal episodes and a bit of an experiment! Thank you for taking the time to watch!
When your hike takes twice as long because you have to set the camera, film yourself walking, then run back to pick up the camera.
Great video so far!
You're not wrong sir! 90 minute hike up took 3 hours :) Thank you for watching!

You're wandering around with a radio and a machete? How bloody Australian of you my friend! ;)

That's right, step on it, pull it out of the roots! I hate pines.
Great vid mate! See ya
Thank you brother, you got it!

You've hit the nail on the head my friend, I am a disgrace.

Wonderful! Although I did wonder if you were going to go uphill at any point. Good to see you're off the leash and back in the hills. 😊
Thank you mate, sorry I missed this comment not sure how I managed to do that - must be getting old! Have a cracking week mate all the best!
@@RadioRunner no worries Mate. Here's to no more lockdowns. 🤞
Nice video and excellent footage Chris. 73 Chris M0RSF
Thank you mate, sorry it took me so long to reply to you! Have a cracking weekend my man!
