    • @HummingbirdSpot

There is something else going on here, because males have nothing to do with chick rearing. As soon as the male mates, he is off looking for another female. I have seen a "teenager" who refuses to leave mama along with her new babies keeps coming back to the nest. Maybe that is the situation you are seeing.

Great camera angle & clarity. If only ppl allowed mature trees & shrubs to grow without harsh pesticides, preserving little remaining habitats for wildlife on this planet. Nature does the rest & ppl benefit overall. Nothing better than aiding next gen to thrive- hummers & song birds live short lives.

The baby says. “Mama, I’m hungry, feed me!” Mommy hummingbird feeds her baby, his first meal. The same goes for the second baby, and Mommy hummingbird feeds her second baby. This is how things work while we continue to marvel on in the Hummingbird Sanctuary.

This morning my wife found a hummingbird nest on a small branch i had cut down yesterday & threw in the back of my truck, i feel terrible but i think it was abandoned already, thats my luck ive looked for nests all my life 57yrs & i had some branches rubbing against my porch driving me crazy when the wind blows so i just went out trimmed a few threw them in my truck so the wife wouldnt notice i butchered her tree, well she went to put some stuff in there to & noticed this cotton ball looking thing on the branch, well its a nest looks like a large half egg shell so i tied the branch back up in the tree but i read they are one time use only so i hope it was used already but i havent seen any hummingbirds since i cut the branch down, boy im in trouble!
