I was a poor, jobless high schooler when SFA 2 hit consoles, so I was stuck with the SNES version(which is one of the greatest console ports ever). I love this damn game!
Birdie is actually from Street Fighter 1, though he'd fit right in with the gang in Final Fight. His stage being in a bathroom reminds me of the bathroom you fight thru near the end of Final Fight, which might be where the idea came from, maybe.
Charlie was actually Guile's combat partner and in the alpha series this is before Bison had un alived Charlie and later SFA3 Upper Guile was reintroduced into the Alpha series I like MK1 MK2 MK3 and UMK3 but I enjoy Street Fighter it's my favorite games
I love this one and all the SF Alphas. I play this on Fightcade alot. Gotta love facing Birdie in a bathroom while others are releasing themselves and the hold time phone waiting music as the credits roll! 😅
I regret not playing SFA2 Gold now however that was the one I had originally got way back in the day. Thanks for the comment Terrell I appreciate it! 👊🏼
They did a good job with the PS1 Port of the alpha games even if it was not actually arcade perfect it looked arcade perfect in most people's eyes I literally cannot tell a difference who thinks he should play Street Fighter Alpha 3 next
I was an Alpha 3 guy; Alpha 3, Champion Edition, and SSF2T. Those are the best. Those are my personal top three. Alpha 2 is often considered the best of the Alpha series by die-hard fans, but it doesn't have half the characters 3 does. I will always choose Alpha 3 over Alpha 2.
Is the screen tearing actually in the game or is it just because your camera isn't syncing up to your tv screen? Just wondering. Love playing the Alpha games on Saturn
brought on saturn had shin akuma played saturn port something ps1 didnt have also water reflection were gone on gen stage rolento stage was missing the lift above the building think saturn quick load times.
I'll do a random lore dump. Birdie, Adon, and Gen are all from SF 1, as well as Eagle who was in Alpha 3 Max and of course Ryu/Ken and Sagat. Charlie trained Guile. Which is why they share moves. Sodom is from Final Fight, same as Guy, Rolento, and Cody. SF tends to use a lot of FF characters. Still however, Hagar, has never been in an "SF" title. As for Ken's stage- 99% of the characters are from previous capcom titles.
@BushyStallion Marvel vs Capcom 3 actually, and a cancelled title called Capcom Fighting All-Stars, which introduced Ingrid, who later was put in Alpha 3 Max. SFxT had Hugo and Poison though, both, FF characters.
I remember getting that PS1 Street Fighter Collection collection which came with Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold and Super Street Fighter II. I was surprise how good it was and it had all the secret characters easily accessible too. I later bought the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology for PS2 and it also came with Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Alpha 2 Gold on there.
That’s because on SFA2 Gold, that intro is actually system generated and not FMV. There were a few other performance improvements too. That said, audio sound effects were the only thing this version had over the Saturn version. Otherwise the Saturn version trounces this everywhere else.
I have this for my sega Saturn. Too bad my Saturn no longer works.😢This was a little better for the Saturn(they just had the knack for fighting games, and the controller just fit street fighter games) Great playthrough though.
It's a really decent port but just pipped to the post by the Saturn version. I missed the chain combo system of Alpha 1 though. I love the capcom fighting games of the ps1. Rival schools, Sf Collection and Alpha 3 were my faves.
Why didn’t you play street fighter alpha 2 gold via the street fighter collection disc 2 Also I’m getting a Sega Genesis with mk2 and 1992. What other games should I get?
That version may be difficult to find. Also you will only get that game with Super Street Fighter II and II Turbo if you bought it brand new as Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold is on its own disc. So if you bought that collection used nowadays, sometimes the seller will just sell you disc 1 and not the disc that contain Alpha 2 Gold. It is not like the PS2 Street Fighter Alpha Anthology where it had all six games (Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3, Alpha 3 Upper, and Hyper Alpha) on one disc.
DARRYL ,The announcer on ""SF ALPHA 3"" was extra over the top and sounded down right Snotty and Sassy , plus he sounded very much like "George Grey" who is current announcer for gameshow ""The Price is Right"" with Drew Carey 🎉🏆😸👍👍
I have a couple versions of this one. I have the version on the cab and the version on the collection for PS4. The last time I showcased that game I played on the arcade and it was TOO HARD lol even on easy. But I may just visit it again soon 👊🏼
@@BushyStallion The AI in the version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo featured on Street Fighter Collection is much easier than the international arcade versions. There is a 3DO port of SSF2T which also has a toned down AI similar to the Japanese arcade versions. You should try that 3DO port of SSF2T in a next video.
Funny enough, that's Charlie/Nash's canon ending that leads for him to the events of Street Fighter V, as for the most part, storywise... Alpha 3 doesn't exists in that regard for most characters, I got used to play the SNES port and then later the Ps2 Alpha Anthology re-release, that one actually let you use Cammy in Arcade Mode in Alpha 2 Gold, as the original SFA2Gold only allowed Cammy to be playable in Vs Mode.
Yeah I think Charlie Nash was only included in Alpha 3 not for storyline purpose but for the sake of catering to the fans who started with the Alpha series. The thing about Capcom and Street Fighter in general is that once they include a character in a SF series, that can't remove that character until the series is over meaning in Street Fighter II if they introduce Fei-Long and Dee-Jay, both of them had to be there for the rest of the SFII series until the Street Fighter III series debut so Charlie being a regular in the Alpha series means he will had to stick around until the Alpha series ended with Alpha 3 Max being the last game. Also Street Fighter is the only fighting game franchise that turn its sequels into series, not many fighting games does that but SF.
Who cares, PS2 is actually THE arcade game. Nobody bought that for world tour, they bought it to have a 100% arcade accurate conversion of the game for serious play. And all versions of SFA3 outside of the collections altered things to the point where the game was just wildly different. And not in a good way.
@Darknight0681 obviously you care to be replying to me about what I said both versions are great I don't care about accuracy screw that but PS1 has the full game and I'm sure a lot of people can agree with me on that statement but if you don't that's okay because I know what it was have a nice day
Fun fact : backward compatibility of Alpha 2 dash (second cd of street fighter collection PS1) is broken on ps3! 1 match and freezees! What a shame for 2d émulation. Agree for great music : cd quality + Qsound is marvelous. SAD it disapeared in future compilations.
Of all the Street Fighter Alpha games, I love Alpha 2 more. I enjoy Alpha 3 as well but they change the game mechanic way too much in that game that it just annoy me instead. They made the Custom Combo its own variable style whereas here in Alpha 2 both the Custom Combo and A-ism style are combine which is more awesome. Alpha 3 not combining those anymore made most of the combos I had mastered from Alpha 2 no longer works in Alpha 3. I also don't like that in Alpha 3 you had to press two buttons (this is lame cause if you miss press just one of them the throws won't work) at the same time to throw an opponent whereas in Alpha 2 it works like in the older games where you could just use one button.
These are great points my friend and it’s obvious you’re a hard core Street Fighter fan. I don’t think I ever dissected these games like I’m finding many have who grew up with them have and do. I think the old system with the single button and instantaneous throws was pretty bad and easy to abuse. I think that fighting Bison in Venezuela is only when you play as Charlie.
Normally, you fight Bison at a base with guards and a large plane.
I've been playing this on the 2D Machine = Saturn
