Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m really touched that my journey has been an inspiration for you. Rejections can be tough, but they’re often part of the process that leads to something better. Stay strong and keep pushing forward-your hard work will pay off in ways you might not even expect. Remember, resilience is key, and great things are definitely worth the effort!
So much respect for the points raised in this video, he is clearly hard-working, humble and honest. I've met a lot of medics who are quite the opposite simply because they study medicine and I'm sure the few I've met with the more human traits will be better doctors as a consequence. Medicine is not just about grades but hard work (as Kenji said) and excellent interpersonal skills (as he demonstrated).
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is such an inspiring video. I got rejected from the schools I want to go to despite having good grades and it has taken a toll on me. Now I’m in university but my grades are not looking too good and I have to make a huge leap to get the grades that will get me into my dream school after I graduate . My eyes were teary watching this video because I have a very similar experience, though I did not apply for MBBS, but BSc physiotherapy. I was so depressed because initially my dream schools emailed me "I was not competent enough in my interview." but anyways I got into a school to study physio. I must say big congrats to you Kenji! MBBS is one of the toughest journeys for the chosen minority with both high IQ and EQ! I still planning to apply for MBBS after I graduate and gain some clinical experiences as a physio. I can't express how happy I am for you because physio was not so easy as well... I wish you all the happiness and all your dreams come true in the future!
Happy for you and such a great story! I too took few years to get in. After 5 years I got in. Went from 2.9 uGPA to 3.87 GPA in a masters program which was first year medical school. Received my acceptance two weeks ago and I feel such a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. Good luck to you!
Thank you so much. This story hit really close to home for me. Sadly I got rejected from medical school last year and Im planning to try again this tear, it is very scary , but we must do everything to follow out dreams
My situation is really similar to yours at its start. I’m in high school and my grades aren’t near to what is needed to be admitted to medschool. I just want to thank you for giving me hope that if I work hard enough, it is possible to become a doctor at the end of the road and help others with care and compassion.
your reaction to getting the offer from KCL is same as mine. I applied to do Msc Software Engineering at KCL and waited so long to hear from them and one day that wonderful email arrives. I will be starting my course this September and hopefully see you around
That is very inspirational. I'm 15 and I've felt demotivated similarly to you. I really want to get into this computer science degree that requires straight As plus work experience and exemplary extracurriculars. After looking at the road ahead of me, and the competition, I realized that I need to step up my game. Looking at your story, I'm inspired to work my hardest to get into the program, no matter what it takes. What I like about the UK that isn't held highly in North America, in general, is that hard work can get you anything you want. I can't wait for the journey ahead of me, I wish you the best of luck.
Dear Kenji, I have watched this video a few times, and each time, I really empathize with the disappointment with the repeated rejections from the three unis but I also share with you the great joy that came with the breakthrough offer from Kings' College. You have been so long-suffering and your resilience is amazing. I would love that you make some videos sharing with us how you overcome the repeated disappointments like practical ways that helped you come out of the sadness, how you found motivation again to try all that. It will really benefit those who are facing or will face the same. Thank you again for making this video. You don't know how it has help both students and parents.
This incredibly candid video deserves so many more likes!! You are so inspirational Kenji! You and Naomi inspired me to apply to King's. After 2 years of being rejected by the likes of Leicester and Southampton, I am proud to say I am currently studying medicine at King's now :)
Kenji this is so inspirational and what I needed to hear!! I got three rejections for medicine and I’m still waiting for my fourth decision, and my motivation isn’t doing so well compared to last year, but we’re all in this together ☺️

Hai Kenji! I just recently got rejected in my 3rd attempt in med school today and it really torn my heart apart. I was thinking to quit bc i think its bc of how incompetent myself and been wanting to try another major. but seeing ur videos really motivated me to keep going, trying another way to join medicine. Ty for ur sharing man, im going to keep it up until i get it.
As a pre-med student, I can't thank you enough for posting this video. I've used all of my perseverance to go through my first year in Biomedical Science last year, and I still got a non-competitive GPA (7.78 out of 10.0). To give some background, I've had a traumatic head accident when I was skiing the year before. I have waited for 1.5 years to see a neurologist (long waitlist) that told me that I've been suffering from post-concussion syndrome and that no, I didn't suffer from depressive headache nor was I getting 'dumber' (Yeah, I was really beating myself up). Long story short, my biggest mistake (that I'm taking responsibility for) was to not take a gap year during the 2019-2020 school year in order to properly recover from my concussion. And I had convinced myself that I wasn't fit to become a doctor... I thought to myself this summer, that perhaps, I should in Finances or Engineering since my math grades were the only A+ I got last year. Since then, I've been feeling like my future is up in the air and so many roads are paved in front of me but I will surely fail all of them because even by pushing everyone away to focus on studying, I just kept passing out (massive headaches). This is just me sharing what I've experienced, I hope no one will get offended. Anyway, your story is really inspiring and I'd like to thank you again for sharing it. Definitely hit the subscribe button!!!
Such an inspirational story, you double the knowledge as a biomed grad and now med school. It might be later but it was your destiny and now you will appreciate this so much more 👏🏻
You ARE AMAZING, so inspirational so humble, so kind and relatable, hope you'll have a beautiful journey in med school, you'll be a great doctor one day 💙.
Jambo Kenji, congrats and keep working hard. I love the love and recognition you give Kenya and I always feel you are totally one of us. Come back when you nail that Medical degree. We need more doctors here bro.
thankyou so much for this video, it was so great to hear your part of story that it may help me in my path.and i really want to congratulate you, actually the success is not always the last result but how much work you did. and i really admire you of being so passionate about being doctor and finally getting admission onto a medical school. but i like the path you took,
I’m going to be starting college in September and I’ve always been interested in medicine and becoming a doctor is one of my biggest dreams. The subject I’m worried about is chemistry since I’m quite average at it (I gets B’s) but your videos inspire me so much to do well and I will try my best to get into med school. Thanks 😊 🙏🏽
Thank you for sharing this .I am half way through MSc Biomedical Science and have felt like giving up . I spent 15 years suffering with mental ill health. You are inspiring me not to give up .
this is real life whether sugar coated nor hollywood style tale So better be prepared for real life ;) Thanks for telling things how they are and not being fake.
Your perseverance is really inspiring! I had to take a gap year to resit and reapply for medical school and with covid, I wasn’t able to get any predicted grades so I have no choice but to sit the october exams to get my place- this video motivated me to work really hard as I’m near the end :)
Thanks for the video, I know your pain of rejection ! I've graduated my BSc HONS in Genetics last year and didn't get the offers from Med School. Now I'm doing my postgrad this year and PHD next year. Hopefully I'll get into Med school after my PHD. This is the unconventional way to go to medical school, but I'm sure they would takes my application more seriously. :)
Inspirational story! Crazy how competitive it is to get into med school... So no wonder many start off in Biomed... I never wanted to go for physician, I wanted the science directly! I also faced rejection: my first PhD grant application in 2013 I failed. Forced into my 1st job (Biotech industry), but without regret because I learned so much. Now I'm on a revenge tour to get my PhD, although on a totally different project (one I like more!). I know how you feel, and indeed, persistence can pay off, with a determined but flexible mindset (and some luck!). 15:46 True! Hard work beats Talent every time! Keep it going! PS: what do you think in the future? Be a physician and stay with the science? For in industry for medical relations, or have a role in clinical research, or become a professor?
Thank you for sharing your story too!! Glad you're path is going in the right way too. For the future, I'm thinking of staying in medicine but also going into academic research and continuing the research that I'm currently doing at the moment 😊
@@DoctorKenji Just beware! The academic path is full of snake pits and dead ends ;) I'm going back to industry afterwards...Your Bali vlog was awesome too by the way!
This made me tear up. I am the first person to go to university from my family, didn't finish school and had to work extra hard to get into one of the best universities for Architecture. With that being said, after completing my Bachelor degree I still find myself working 10x harder, put in the extra hours of work to get even remotely close to the level everyone is in Masters. I'll be starting my Masters this October and I'm already studying for it now (March) so I'm equipped with the technical abilities I need. Feels unfair sometimes, especially when you know you put in 100% of your effort all the time. Just wanted to say thank you for this video gave me the motivation to keep going. Everyone is on their own level. Someone might take 5 years others will take 8 to get to their goal.
Never allow the pain of your past speak louder than the promises of your future

Also very well done, ai cant imagine how proud your mum is, and also you are very lucky to have her she must be a wonderful mother to raise such a great boy/man, so well done to her too 😊
i so look up to you!! im currently facing rejections which is pretty hard tbh but seeing you being so strong thru all of it really helps understand that sometimes great things in life dont come easy
Thank you so much for your kind words!!
Your video has inspired me to work harder than ever before and to keep on believing in myself
This is so motivational and inspirational. I’m currently in second year of medical school, and love it! You really are inspiring as a medical student.
Thank you so much Nicole! 💙
Wow, your struggle/rejection story is truly inspirational. I am in high school and want to be a medical student in the future. Your struggle story really inspires me to work hard and get good grades. Truly inspirational !! Continue to inspire students!! May God bless you!!
Thank you and thank you for sharing your inspiring story!!
This makes me so hopeful, it’s so good to hear a true route into med school!!
Thanks so much!
Your drive and motivation is so inspirational honestly, so glad I watched this video!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much. This story hit really close to home for me. Sadly I got rejected from medical school last year and Im planning to try again this tear, it is very scary , but we must do everything to follow out dreams
You're very welcome! You're exactly right. All the best with the application!!
Thank you for changing my mindset. When I enter medical school in 2023 I will let you know!
All the best!
My situation is really similar to yours at its start. I’m in high school and my grades aren’t near to what is needed to be admitted to medschool. I just want to thank you for giving me hope that if I work hard enough, it is possible to become a doctor at the end of the road and help others with care and compassion.
You're very welcome!!
After all your hard work, you definately deserve to go to Medical School, and become a Doctor.👍🏾😘💗
Clear example of when one door gets shut in your face another door is going to open and hold bigger and better things. Well done 🤲🏾
Thank you!! 🙌🙌
your reaction to getting the offer from KCL is same as mine. I applied to do Msc Software Engineering at KCL and waited so long to hear from them and one day that wonderful email arrives. I will be starting my course this September and hopefully see you around
Congratulations!! Definitely say hi if you see me around campus 😊
Watching from Kenya🇰🇪.Just found your channel.I'm aspiring to join Med school in 2 years. You're really inspiring😊
Asante sana!
Best, I am also a 1st year medical student. Thanks for inspiring😊
Thanks so much!!
That was a truly exceptional experience. Congratulations! KCL medicine is the best among those universities.
Thanks so much!!
You can’t explain how excited you were?! I was excited for you! That was a roller coaster! I don’t even know you and I’m so happy for you!
Thank you so much!!
Amazing my Kenyan boy! You are truly inspirational
Thank you so much and all the best with your computer science application!!
Your story is so inspirational!
Thank you!! I'm glad you found it so 😊
Dear Kenji, I have watched this video a few times, and each time, I really empathize with the disappointment with the repeated rejections from the three unis but I also share with you the great joy that came with the breakthrough offer from Kings' College. You don't know how it has help both students and parents.
ngl super motivating story
Thank you!!
Where there is a Will there is a Way. Truly Inspiring❤
Thank you so much and very true!
This is possibly the most useful video I've seen on this topic so tysm!

Who else needed to hear this while on her/his premed course? This is so uplifting, thanks
Well done on accomplishing your goals 😊🙌🏽 this video just motivated me to work hard
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found motivation in it 😊
This incredibly candid video deserves so many more likes!! You are so inspirational Kenji! You and Naomi inspired me to apply to King's. After 2 years of being rejected by the likes of Leicester and Southampton, I am proud to say I am currently studying medicine at King's now :)
Thank you so much :) Congratulations on getting into King's!!
Kenji this is so inspirational and what I needed to hear!! I got three rejections for medicine and I’m still waiting for my fourth decision, and my motivation isn’t doing so well compared to last year, but we’re all in this together ☺️

That's absolutely amazing!! Birmingham had a special place in my heart since I did my undergrad there. Congratulations and you're gonna love it!!

Very inspiring whether or not going into medicine, it has inspired me to follow my dreams even though I gave up hope 6 years ago. Time to get back planning!
It's never too late!! 🙌
Your story hit me so hard. I am bascially going through the same case. Had a massive breakdown last month because of not being able to make it to medical college. Applied to biomed with a broken heart with the hope of getting into medicine somehow after this degree and i am so glad i watched this video i am super motivated now. Can't wait to ace through biomed by ALLAH'S will and apply for medicine. Would love your guidance and help for future. 🌻🌻
Keep your hopes up and God bless!
Well done doc.
You are a huge inspiration! I wouldn’t have been able to cope with rejections that well like you.
I am waiting to hear from unis (I’m a dentistry applicant)still and I can’t wait to know if I have an offer already.

I watched this video about 2 yrs ago, i was very depressed for months i constantly thought of dark thoughts, i wanted to give up and become a nurse because i still had passion for helping people (but not myself) when i watched this video i became very emotional and decided to keep going, after 3 yrs of that hell i just made it into medical school through a scholarship and i cant thank you enough, you helped many people Dr.
Your story resonates well with me
So proud of you!!!! Truly made me tear up!!! An inspiration!

Happy for your achievement, Kenji! I tapped into your other video on writing an outline, and never thought I would end up near tears over your powerful testament! You appear to be such a strong, and gracious spirit, and I'm sure your family are all too proud of you. Wishing you the brightest and most successful future. Many Blessings. Phyllis

This is down right mortivating,i totally relate.
Thank you, I'm glad!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story, it was very inspiring! You got this!!
@@DoctorKenji Thxxx!
Your story is amazing; this is really encouraging!
Thanks so much!!
Such an inspirational story, you double the knowledge as a biomed grad and now med school. It might be later but it was your destiny and now you will appreciate this so much more 👏🏻
That's so true..thank you so much Farah!
You ARE AMAZING, so inspirational so humble, so kind and relatable, hope you'll have a beautiful journey in med school, you'll be a great doctor one day 💙.
Aww that was so lovely, thank you so much!!! 💙
Jambo Kenji, congrats and keep working hard. I love the love and recognition you give Kenya and I always feel you are totally one of us. Come back when you nail that Medical degree. We need more doctors here bro.
Asante sana!
thankyou so much for this video, it was so great to hear your part of story that it may help me in my path.and i really want to congratulate you, actually the success is not always the last result but how much work you did. and i really admire you of being so passionate about being doctor and finally getting admission onto a medical school. but i like the path you took,
Thank you so much!
Bravo and this is very inspirational. Good luck with your studies.
Thanks so much!!
Thanks 😊 🙏🏽
Thanks so much for this kind message!
Thank you so much for sharing your story; it gave me hope!
I’m so glad!!
thanks for this inspirational video....
Most welcome!
Congratulations bro! This gives me hope
Thanks so much!!
GOOD JOB DUDE!!! great story man.
This is amazing, your story is truly inspirational !
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this .I am half way through MSc Biomedical Science and have felt like giving up . I spent 15 years suffering with mental ill health. You are inspiring me not to give up .
Thank you so much!
this is real life whether sugar coated nor hollywood style tale
So better be prepared for real life ;)
Thanks for telling things how they are and not being fake.
You're very welcome!!
Your perseverance is really inspiring! I had to take a gap year to resit and reapply for medical school and with covid, I wasn’t able to get any predicted grades so I have no choice but to sit the october exams to get my place- this video motivated me to work really hard as I’m near the end :)
You got this!!
These teachers can be pessimistic and discouraging.. never give up, keep pushing.
Amen!
Thank you for comforting me with this story. This is great, and good job man. Let us know how it goes!
Thank you man I will!
It sounds like you'll have an amazing application. All the best 😁
Wow your story is very inspiring! I hope when I go to UK as a nurse I can meet you someday. 😂
Thank you so much and hopefully see you around! :D
Amen!! thank you for sharing your story!!
