      Did the customer specify ANSI/TIA-606-C labeling requirements?

    • @lelandclayton5462
      @lelandclayton5462 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I typically measure the whip from the tip of my finger to my elbow then put on the label. Also leave the customer the "wire list" so they know what cable is labeled for what. For a commercial setting such as that there are three copies, one in our database, one goes to the IT manager and one goes in the IT Closet/Server Room. However the company I work for mostly does Residential and if we do Commercial we don't do much in Networking but we do Fire, Burg, Access Control and CCTV so we don't bother with ANSI/TIA-606-C Labeling.

    After doing structured cabling for 8+ years I'll always quote Panduit Mini-Com's (unless the customer request something specific). I know they are expensive, but I can terminate a cable twice as fast so labor is cut down. I know some places like to separate data, cameras, aps, but I found that can bite you in the ass if you need to add a slew of cables down the road. Then your positioning can get all screwed up. As long as everything is properly labeled I don't differentiate them in the panels. The way you can easily tell if they are APs, cameras, etc is by the color of the patch cable.

    Pre-planning is great, until the customer changes everything at the last moment and mixes in video/conference rooms into switches that were supposed to be just WAP or just voice etc.. then they bridge networks together causing link flapping and spanning tree issues. And you the cabling and MSP are somehow at fault...

    Those little rooms are called a number of things, but we refer to them as privacy booths. They are for people who don't necessarily have a dedicated office space or cube to be able to step into and make a conference call, whether they be visitors, contractors, or remote employees who needed to come into the office. That's why they have separate ventilation and a white noise generator. No more squatting in conference rooms! :)

    Wow Really appreciate the on site video , make sure you thank your customer. Couple questions comes up ... are you guys running the Ethernet from end point to IDF or MDC, or is it done by the GC's Sparkies (electicians) and you guys do the termination only ? . Would be nice to see how it looks in the false ceiling. i am kinda my picky about that .... really hate if the cables are not in trays or cable hooks. Not because its a false ceiling it as to look like crap. Thanks for the great videos keep up the great work

    This is great work, very well organised and professional! However, the office is a disaster - a company, which still builds offices with cubicles is so 70s & 80s that I would NEVER work for such a company, the way they build up the office space is the way they understand leadership. More open space, open work spaces, more colours, less walls and yes, for quiet work these "phone-booths" are quite usual - they are in most new offices around. Great work. terrible office space ;)
