I definitely think this looks amazingly gimmicky which is gonna help him in low levels (where he's already dominant) more than it helps him in high levels (where it's liable to getting counterhit)
I main Bison in super diamond and so far I’ve had reasonable success with this vskill. I’ve certainly been counter hit my fair share, but have found this to be useful in key situations where it simply wasn’t expected. I think if it’s not abused it will almost be ignored or forgotten until it lands. It’d definitely gimmicky but I think it had potential to be viable for players that know how to read opponents well and understand the moves weaknesses. Overall though, I find it to be mostly matchup dependent, for me it’s done well against Rashid, Abigail, Dhalsim, Ibuki and Urien, and somewhat against Akuma.

So every balance patch Capcom sits down and asks "what weaknesses remain for Bison? Okay he needs a better parry then. Okay he needs a corner escape then." Can't wait for them to just slap a Flash Kick to him next when they realize he has some problems anti airing.
I tested it first hand today, and boy oh boy it's easy to punish, I was playing Old Zeku (not really a fast-button poke kinda of character) and actually got frequently st. mk CH because it takes SO MUCH TIME for him to do the attack that you can easily react. One good thing is that he is not very far away so with old zeku I could actually hit st. mk CH into st. HP to combo off.
I want to start playing Bison but I don't understand how people pull out consecutive special moves like going from psycho blast to double knee press. Anyone have any tips?
It's really too slow to use on reaction to most fireballs and pretty much all pokes. Granted if you barely miss a punish they'll block so you still get a mixup.
This is so broken, it is Juri V-skill 1 with no charge faster and cannot be blocked by holding back. Also getting use to something does not mean its not broken. But yeah seriously how dare bison have a weakness like every other character in the game
All we need now is a crouch heavy buff to be more reliable as a anti air...but this V-Skill is a good mix up as it's literally his vt1 dash, plus a knockdown and it's plus on block...only problem is the startup but then it'd probably be spammable. But as a bison main to fellow bison mains... *PLEASE DON'T SPAM THIS MOVE*
If you think he's dashing it's probably a good idea to throw out a jab and hit him anyway because it's not like you'll be punished. But it's main use will be to get free pressure if someone throws out a whiffed normal and he only recovers in time to block. It's +1 but it's something. Perfectly serviceable and maybe better than his other VSkill which I don't think too highly of.
@@Bafael it's fast enough that he can punish Alex for using his V-Skill, and I've had it track me when I come in with an Elbow or even a Head Crush. It should not track that well.

I’m with you. On the surface it looks insanely annoying, especially because of the +1 aspect. But once people are used to challenging it, it’ll just be free damage and oki for the person defending against it. Seems gimmicky to me.
I actually think you're way under-rating this. It looks so much like dash that there's a mix up there, plus 1 from a move like that is just preposterous really and who blocks crossup after a throw attempt? It's not a punish, but it's still gonna hit all the damn time.
You can block it on reaction to the animation, it's not like you have to predict which way to block. You're not exactly looking for anything else while teching a throw. I think once people have some experience against this it's gonna be really hard for bison to land it just because of how hard it is to get as a punish or in a combo, and how if it's done outside a combo it can be blocked or interrupted. +1 also isn't great since reversal lights beat bison's instant throw, as well as any medium he can do, and they trade with his jabs, which forces bison to do v-skill into stand short against 3f characters which has low damage and bad conversions. Dhalsim basically already has this but Dhalsim's is faster and harder to react to, more plus on block, less vulnerable if interrupted, and leads to grounded combos on hit.
@@Bafael you're looking to tech a throw while you're teching a throw surely? Not looking for a crossup. I think most of your other points are valid though. Two, they jump or backdash out of the throw, which are also reactable. And now three, they vskill out, also reactable. You're just watching for the 2 and 3 escapes. You can do, for example, throw then pause into jab. If they get thrown or tech the throw, your jab never comes out. If they jump you can react during the throw whiff and maybe anti air them. If they backdash you whiff a throw and then your jab either whiffs (if they're midscreen) or beats whatever they do next (if they're in the corner). If they vskill, you whiff your throw then your jab counter hits them and you get a combo. Basically, when you throw your committing to an action with only a very small number of escapes so you can very easily anticipate those escapes. I agree with Baf that this VS is not that great. Theres a very simple counter to it - just mash buttons and it will always get you a counter hit. Unlike Sims teleport, you can’t even fake out a teleport - it always teleports you behind the opponent, so if you mash buttons, you will always hit Bison. People saying it looks the same as his dash - doesn’t matter - if it’s a dash, not a teleport, you check Bison. If it’s a teleport you get CH and if it’s a back dash nothing happens so it’s a win win win situation. The only this VSkill is good for is for getting fireball spammers and getting out the corner. Capcom has some weird obsession with giving characters completely braindead ways to get plus frames. Sure, it's slow, but if you use it sparingly you might catch the opponent off guard and then Bison is in there doing what he does best. I think it should be zero on block personally.
After 3 months of use of every Bison out there (including myself) i have determined that this is one terrible V-Skill. It is simply useless. It is even worse than his already lackluster and weak VS1. I would have prefered it much more to have it work in the same vein as Camy VS1, that means a faster start up and a more restricted range. As it is now on 43 frames...no, you can't use it and nobody really does.
