I just drove past one of our local Ritchie Bros. sites just this weekend (filed to the brim with treasures no less!) and I said to myself “Man Matt would have a field day out here…” and here we are with another auction video!

@Jnic the auctions look that big, you'd need to buy a side-by-side just to "walk around" we have nothing like this where I live. The size of these auctions blows my mind, here in New Zealand.
@@timfagan816 I saw a video recently may have to find out where, but it actually told the story of Ritchie Brothers auctions. Apparently they only happen like once or twice a year, rest of time is gathering equipment and evaluating :)

Back in the late 70’s I worked for a gravel pit in Newbury Ohio and we ran a machine like that putting material in a machine to make Mason sand.

Considering it's 60 something years old and been sitting out in the weather it's in very clean shape. There's a guy in my area who has a small cable shovel and as a kid every time we'd go by his house it was always sitting in one spot for the longest time and never seemed to move. Because it was always incredibly rusty and it never moved I thought it was abandoned there. But I was told by my father that the guy used it for moving stone and dirt. Just in recent years he cleaned up the main body of it and painted it red. So now it looks like it gets attention and not just being a rusty lawn ornament. :)

Well done Matt. That shovel looks like it was well looked after, all the tin work looks to be in perfect condition which would be unusual for a machine that old. I’m looking forward to watching you get them home and restoring them and now you’ve got the gear to get them home yourself. I'm not sure if I wouldn't have been happier with a sand blasting company. Sand blasting something like that grader is my idea of fun.

Holy Smoke , That Farm auction was a mind blower , It looks like equipment from so many generations . We should support the small farmers , so many farms shutting down scares me , if it don't scare you , your blind .

The Volvo was made by JCB, I think they had a 5 year deal to build them for Volvo. JCB dealer told me they didn't renew the deal because JCB was selling as many as they could build. The Richie sale here at Longmont Colorado is the same, lots and lots of rental trucks and semi trailers. Next auction is in May.
That El Camino is premium! $7750 was a steal!
My son loves them has had a few still owns a 1981 v6 stick last year of stick in a El he actually switched it to a 5sp out of a s10 runs ton better then the old Saginaw 3sp he was planning on switching the v6 also out of the s10 but ended up selling engine
I live in Erie and I remember the Bucyrus Erie shovels lined up on the west side of the plant after final assembly. That was early to mid 1960's.

The hours on them light plants are true. I bought 2 generators from there that was never started
Our Richie brothers has made us wear them vest for a long time now. Yours always seems to have better prices then mine.

It’s called a scarifier. Pretty common
I've worked 10 yrs on the railroad i seen lots of attachments for the pettybone speedswing but first time seeing a bucket

The machine you were looking at for the railways. That machine is called a Speed swing. You can move rock, snow and 1440 foot rail to help repair the track!! 😁
That road Tractor is a m35a2 with the bed chopped off and a fifth added. Identical to yours

hahaha all the penski maxforce trucks , same here at the Chehalis Wa auction.... literally hundreds of them! Couldn't give me one. Ahh the dead line, I do love me some good junk. Wish I was closer to ya, I think we would have fun. Just bought another truck last week, I've put a couple auction runs on my channel. Stay out of trouble, if you elect not to make sure you film it! Watch out for the grease worms Theil follow you home from that place!

Had a boss,in the oilfield that was a know it all. He went to an auction and bought a nice case back-hoe. The first time he saw us operate it the boom was so floppy. He got mad and went back to the office. 😅😅😅 If you don't know equipment, don't buy equipment.

I knew It when I saw the cable shovel and the Grader what was going to happen awesome engines in Both of them ,So now you have the D6 the shovel and the grader to work on besides the shop your stretching yourself a little thin Matt but I love the equipment you have great stuff to work with
D8 but yah. Lots of projects but they aren’t going anywhere
I'm happy the shops done so Matt can work on all this stuff and hopefully more good videos and I was so excited you got the grader!

That railway loader is a bit big for my 71/4" railway at home.
That thing was super cool. I am sure someone could make that work quite well for a project. Depending on the load it can haul it would make for a great loading trucks because you can pull along the side and load rather than drive up. Which means that you can loop rather than having to back up every time. This could be useful for loading logs because you can make a grapple then drive up lift the boom move forward, turn and then moved forward or back again and drop the load.
@@kameljoe21 Yes I do big timber as well as my railway, had not thought of that, ( over 70)however quite pricey to get it to the UK.
All you need is a clam bucket to complete your cable operated collection

You can get more than that in scrap for the grader. In my area of PA scrap is at $13.50/100
That’s how much it is here too. The grader only weighs 13,000 pounds. That’s $1755 that’s also not factoring in your time effort and cost in cutting it up and hauling it in
