❤ I bought a Burley Travoy today to go on my Brompton. I just LOVE the way you explain your life by bike and shopping. Because of your videos, I changed my life and sold my car. Thank you Victor.
One thing we have all learned during this lockdown period is how fresh the air is without lots of cars and planes. Lots more people getting on their bikes. People like you showing how easy it is to do everyday things on a bike are so important. You are doing a great public service. I have a bit of a tank of a pedelec so can fit most things in the panniers, but your video has got me to thinking about a trailer for big shops.
Haha thank you!! This channel will always be a regular guy riding a bike. No fancy upgrades, even though I like how people customize the Brompton (just not my thing).
Your videos are absolutely the best. no one Brampton reviews like you. thank you so much for helping us make the move and the switch to a more sustainable way of transportation!!!
Respect to this guy for making the bike work for him in all situations possible. I had the same mindset and used 2 Ortlieb bike shoppers pannier bags, you can carry them on the shoulder via the shoulder straps then hook them to rear panniers on my regular bike as I Don't have a folding bike yet. I didn't use public transport for 2 years.
Just a quick thank you for a amazing video 👍 I’ve watched a lot of TH-cam trying to decide if this is the right trailer for me 🤔 But after watching your video I’ve ordered my Burley Travoy plus upper and lower bags. Keep up the great work. ❤️
Hi, thx, great video. It is a pleasure to watch it. Me and my wife riding also Bromptons. We would never buy another bike. We had a great trip through Netherland and France last year. We did it with Interrail and our bicycles. No problems on fast trains. Was great to ride e.g. through Amsterdam, Paris and Marseille. Never without our Bromptons. :-)
Excellent video, very well filmed considering the weather on your outbound trip. We've all seen videos with inferior vision/sound which have been shot in bright sunshine !!
Nice video, Victor. Once again you did it. I like to feel your joy while doing such an ordinary task. Is it a cycling effect? I suppose it is. Anyway, it is important to bring some positive mood, especially nowadays. Thank you.
Love the short video. I'm a proud owner of a Brompton in the north of England and love the Brompton, especially for cycling on canal banks..........where the terrain is flat! You are amazing how you encourage people to do all this shopping with a Brompton, using cargo trailers...which I didn't know you could get! Thank you, it's a pleasure to watch. Will definitely watch the other videos in due course.
Nice showcase of this especially showcasing the BURLEY TREVOY at it’s use cause I was considering purchasing one also for grocery shopping. I like how it’s compact for storage especially living in an apartment and easy to take inside places and such.
Glad to see someone else is using this combo, its like a match made in heaven for the travoy and brompton. was glad to see you had the mesh upper and lower bags as well as i found they made a huge difference when doing my shopping My travoy hauls a lot of things on a daily basis. makes a great hand cart as well or taking trash up and down the stairs
You are a nice chap and I like watching your videos. BTW, what you are calling rain there is nothing compared to we get in London. Some time we would experience the 4 seasons in one ride 😂. Keep up the great videos.
Everyday Cycling Hi Victor and Zak, I am completely new to owning a quality bike. And I was told by a staff at a Brompton Junction Store that we should avoid rising in the rain. Otherwise, we should dry everything, especially the hinges, up COMPLETELY as soon as possible to prevent the frames and parts from rusting. What are you takes on this? Thanks heaps!
Great video Victor. Almost as good as your apartment day moving one which was hilarious. I was amazed at your commitment cause I would've given up and used the car!
That's a very impressive load you can build on the Travoy trailer using a little ingenuity. I have an ordinary hybrid bike and just over a year ago after spending some time debating what kind of trailer would be the most practical to choose for my own needs, I went a little left field and got a large sized dog trailer specifically to use as a large fully covered and enclosed cargo trailer for doing a weekly family shopping and also carrying heavy or bulky cargo of any kind. For grocery shopping I pack everything into large reusable shopping bags at the checkout and then just load them into the trailer and zip it up just like loading into the boot (trunk) of your car and off you go. It's amazing how much it will hold and I've had over 70kg load in it on the way home (6.5km each way to my nearest supermarket) plus the trailer itself is 13kg on its own. But whatever kind of trailer anyone chooses to suit their own individual needs, when you have one, it really turns a bicycle into a real world alternative to using or needing a car. Or at least needing a car less. I have a car and I do need it because I live in a rural area. But along with the trailer, I always have either large or smaller pannier bags with me as required. I take the bike for 90% of all trips within 10km distance and often for longer trips or errands whenever practical.
Excellent. I used to do something very similar with my touring bike, when we didn’t have a car. A shopping trailer and 2 panniers and I could get a week shopping done and loaded onto the bike.
I also use my touring to go shopping here in Atlanta, but I've never tried the Travoy + rear panniers. I'm pretty sure they would hit each other. Was your trailer attached to the axle?
This is like GOLD! I have a Burley travois and I asked myself this exact question - could I use the Travois with a Brompton. I'm considering getting an e-bike Brompton - wonder how that would work... Thanks so much for the great video Yours w warm regards Jennie
Great video man! I liked how you showed you can ride with rain with no problem at all. I’m loving the Burley Travoy, I have it on my Amazon wish list 🤞🏼 I recently sold my car because I did not use it enough to justify having it, so that cargo trailer looks so convenient for those shopping days when a backpack or paniers are not enough.
If you're looking for the Travoy, keep an eye on the REI website here in the US. Both the older model (mine) and the new one were 25% off a few weeks ago because of their anniversary sale. I bought mine on a sale, actually. Haha cheers!
I use a big Sketchers shoe bag with shoulder straps for the bulkiest items like loo roll and keep the heavy stuff close to the frame in panniers. My shopper is a 30 yr old Moulton APB with a front rack, panniers and saddle bag. Can manage 20 kilos+ with no significant handling issues and I haven’t even got round to fitting the rear rack as a consequence (vs my ‘sensible’ modern big wheel Genesis bike with rear rack panniers which felt super-shady with about the same load...)
That’s awesome. While I’ve probably managed to cram half of your shopping into my front Brompton bag, that trailer is looking more and more appealing. Love how easily it folds down. (BTW, you’ve inspired me to invest in a mirror)
Great video. I have made a hack for my travoy ataching two old small diameter pieces of inner tube whit zip tyes on each side of bottom and main frame of the trailer for preventing the bothom corners of the bag toucing the wheels when rotating. Cheers from Romania. :)

Great stuff! Coincidentally, I saw that same trailer being used by a Brompton shop over here, Brilliant Bikes (who do some excellent Brompton videos too!) - I had never even heard of the Burley Travoy before and here I am seeing it again, weird! Thanks Victor... 👍🏻 😉 🐍
I know their channel, but haven't seen the Travoy video yet, I'll look for that! I've been using mine for a couple of years now. It has been holding strong!
Super good to see you using your bike to the max. I love my Brompton esp' for my pre-Covid life in London, possibly the best town bike ever, but she never be the ride of my life (as a Roadie), especially in rural England. she struggles.
It definitely has its applications. Covering longer distances in a quick manner is definitely best one with a roadie! BTW, riding the road bike in rural England sounds so nice! Ahah I also miss pre-covid life a lot. Stop for a coffee, meet friends... Hope this is over soon! Stay safe!

Hey Victor, Your came up in my feed, although my P6--R (2007) is no longer my commuting bike so is folded in our little English barn for now. It's great to see you showing your community how car-free life is beyond possible, it's fun! I don't recognise the skyline but it sounds like you're in Boston? Happy Brompton life; the sound under the poncho is no problem!
It's amazing how you maximized the utilization of the bike to commute and doing all things including grocery shopping. I loove it! You know.., it's kinda contrary here, while people buying Brompton only for a 'show', not to really utilized them. Stay safe you there Vic!
It's a real problem, some people buy the Brompton just for the feeling of having one. But this one is actually my only vehicle, so I end up having to do everything with it. Today I went out to buy a drill, and later this week I'll move to a different apartment, and use the Brompton to take most of the small stuff.
Hi, I know it’s and older video but I wanted to as you if the Brompton- when folded - will it fit on the travoy - and then use the travoy as a trolley to pull the Brompton with? Thanks
I agree that cycling over wet painted lines on a road can pose problems. Where a road has been repaired there is a shiny area of tar around the patch. Again, when wet there is the potential for danger for the cyclist going over them. Good video showing the potential of the Brompton for shopping trips.
They don't sell bromptons where I live. And youtube recommended this awesome channel to me... I have fallen in love with this bike through your videos. Specially all the things you can attach to it. Awesome job!
I'm glad you're here despite the fact that you don't own a Brompton (yet). Haha I guess if you love cycling, most of the stuff I do here could be done with any other bike. Important thing is to keep riding!
showing some support. i've been a brompton rider for just about 2months now. loving it so far. but the brompton parts upgrading culture is strong where i am. easily mods alone can buy another brompton even a brompton superlight. haha
They definitely can! If you're into that and it brings you joy and excitement, go for it! Otherwise, don't feel compelled to spend your money just because you're "feeling the pressure". These bikes are great with a titanium spring rear suspension, but also with the stock piece of rubber. haha I'm glad you're enjoying yours, and let me know if you did any upgrades on it already!

Really impressed by the Trolley and bike combo! In the realm of environmental conservation, bottle water is both a waste of energy and resource, to haul and to drink. Would very much use filter unless tap water undrinkable.

@@EverydayCycling Yes, apparently Brompton fitted them as standard on their electric version because of the increased braking loads arising from the extra weight + speed concerns.
