Some of these celebrities are jumping up for joy to find out they are related to this royalty and that royalty and it's great, but it's stories like these that truly touch us. Thank you Christina Applegate and Dad Applegate for sharing and thanks TLC for such a great show!
All stories are important, and the connection to your ancestors for many is strong, that is why they jump for joy or cry whether they be related to royalty or a basket weaver.
This is by far the best & emotional episode & I did watch the whole thing. I hate to be a spoiler alert but I gotta tell ya. When they went to the funeral home, they surprisingly found another spot for Christina's father that was already paid by Lavinia(Christina's grandmother), another way of her saying she still loved him & she was sorry. That was awesome & very forgiving. There was no headstone but the father bought her one & it said, "Mom, I finally found you" and it has a beautiful picture of her as when she was child. Beautiful & sad story. Christina Applegate is a wonderful & loving woman for helping her father to forgive & know what had happened to his mom. She is his miracle.❤❤❤
Watching this with tears down my face. Christina, telling your father the good news was him breaking the cycle and raising his children with love and compassion. My family had so much dysfunction and there are still so many things I don’t understand because I was so young! After having the burden of burying my only sibling this last month after not seeing or even knowing where he was for 45 years or even knowing his wishes was excruciating.
I immediately thought about my dad as soon as I heard "you broke the pattern". This is the phrase I am telling my dad on this birthday. Thank you , Christina. Thank you, TLC.
This episode is an emotional roller coaster. Poor dad! But at the end of this episode, it was just intense & peaceful. I couldn't stop crying. This episode was about forgiveness & moving forward peacefully. It was just simply beautiful.
Being adopted and not meeting my birth mother until she found me, when I was 30 years old, with my biological father still denying he’s my father, but information proves otherwise, THIS episode shook me to the core!!!!! Not knowing ANYTHING about my biological family until the age of thirty and still not knowing too much about the paternal side, I have felt this EXACT same way. It’s indescribable and NO ONE can relate unless it’s been part of their story. This was by far the most emotional episode that I’ve talked about for years. Thank you to Christina and her father for being so open and candid about such a painful journey. ☮️💟
This is so touching. That positive affirmation Christina made to her father is priceless to any parent who has done their best to raise good children in this difficult world. Very, very sweet of her. Here's sending warm greetings their way.
She is an amazing women with SOOOOOOooooo much strength and intelligence. Her ability to have the foresight and courage to take control of her own serious health concerns is breath taking. I just can't say enough about her, wow what a women and above all that what a good person.
I feel so bad for the grandfather Paul. He tried so hard to tell the court she was an alcoholic and they didn't believe him. Part of me wonders if the reason her father doesn't remember his mother is because she was abusive and he blocked it out.
It’s sad also because it shows how the courts often show biases. We know she was a alcoholic because she died of cirrhosis. But the judge probably didn’t know better and chose to side with the mother. Men are more often assumed to be alcoholics in comparison to women
This is an amazing and beautiful story, doughter helping her father in an emotional quest to find the truth. Well done ... you guys should be proud of one another, I sure you are, god bless. Christina made a big influence in my teen years, we have the same age, the show that made her a star was awsome, very funny, loved it always made my day better, since then I've followed her acting work enjoying all her movies and TV shows, really a great actres and a wonderful person.
Omg.. Christina - you made me cry.. what an amazing daughter 😭😭😭 and the ability to see good in a tragedy.. so important.. bless your family and your father! Keep together, be strong!
With whatever his parents' mistakes were, he learned how to be a great father. Good job, and yes, be proud. Sad beginning but a triumphant end. Love it ❤
I hope her Father made peace with this. What a tough way to hear the info? My Mothers family is much like his was so many unanswered questins that still haunt her to this day.
I think the saddest and hardest part of this all is that it seems as though his grandmother told him that his mom died by being beaten at a bar when she remarried Walton. His paternal grandparents thought it would be better if he didn't even know about her. Families make decisions that they think are good at the time but can be incredibly painful. I have generational abuse and this makes me want to find out more because what people tell each other isn't always fact
Yeah that's I thought too but you know they both have been telling the truth, they may both have been alcoholics but at least Dad didn't continue the pattern...
i think her WDYTYA was the best one because it was such a close relative. Sometimes these shows go way way back to great great great great-aunt and it doesn't feel very special this one felt different. more emotion more connection.
To me, this is the real American story, no matter what kind of family or social class you came from, we don’t judge you by that but what you do yourself. It’s hard to feel that these days..
Not only did Christina's father break the alcoholism pattern and raise his daughter right, but I think even his mother and father would have been as proud of him for his efforts as Christina is.
My heart brakes and grieves with you both Christina. We are all Gods children and He doesn't want us hurt. There is still more good, that came out of your family's history. God permitted this investigation to prove the judges hasty and incorrect judgment in your grandmothers case. I'm so sorry for all the pain your father has had to suffer in his life. Your father is a real fortified Soldier. His ability to turn things around for Gods Glory! and raise his own family is truly amazing and Wonderful! He has been blessed with a well structured family, a healthy life and a loving and caring daughter (you). It's obvious, he is a very good parent. I don't know any of you but, I'm sure glad you, were able to help him find, healing, answers and long overdue closure to a very hurtful past. Thanks, for being a good daughter, when your father needed you most. To watch his face light up with hope again, with the comfort of your words was so inspiring! By Gods own design, you've enabled your dad the stamina to endure his life with the peace and dignity that he so richly deserves. God bless you. You have a very good head on your shoulders, Christina. Your comfort meant everything to him. God bless you and your family Christina and continue to guide you with the Strength of Eagles wings. Much love to your entire family Christina. ___I am a child of God.
Would love to have been able to watch the whole programme (?) I thought was the best. For reasons of 'close' immediate family, true life happenings. Life is a reality, and Christina in this small portion shared this with the world, along with her dad. Very Real, and this is what connects with people. Respect, and many thanks for keeping it real and sharing Christina and Mr Applegate. Thank you.
So what I gather is that his dad wanted to take care of him, the mother said she didnt drink and he was the drunk. Left the baby at her parents to go on to die from her alcoholism. Absolutely despicable.
Christina is an intelligent person, as well as an talented actress. I’m glad that she did what she needed to do for closure though. My father died from COVID-19 last year, and I had to do the same thing that she did for closure.
Christine seems like a real compassionate person with a lot of heart you just hold on to the good let the bad go put it where it needs to go amen hallelujah
It's hard to interpret life circumstances thru the lens of time. Lots of love ...room for forgiveness in this story. Even for the Grandma who told a horrible lie to a child ...probably to protect him. I would like to say that the cirrhosis of the liver could have been from hepatitis ...which was not discovered until decades later. The mom seems to have had a rough life. An allegedly abusive deadbeat husband, a family that suffered financial loss in the depression, the stigma of a divorce in that time period, the death of her mother and poor health paint the portrait of a strong woman who was forced to give up her child for his own good. Christina, your family has lots of strength and resilience.
This was heartbreaking to see. What is wise with domestic abuse is that nothing has changed. I lost my kids 14 years ago and my ex was the abuser. I never heard from them again.
You have the same profile as my sister. Mom said its because your maternal grandmother and she are first cousins. That would mean your great grandmother and my grandmother were sisters. My grandmother's maiden name is Olson, and she grew up in Litchville, North Dakota. Does any of this ring a bell?
He broke the cycle. If that's not a happy ending I dont know what is, bless you Christina, your daddy did good ❤
❤️
🌹
Awww! Christina Applegate is so amazing. The love and gratitude she showed for her father. Wow. He raised a wonderful daughter!
I love when she explains the good!
Aww she comforted her father really well.
The best. A good daughter and a compassionate woman.
breaking the pattern is the best gift anyone can give their children and grandchildren.

This was the most honest episode that i ever seen. To see her dad's crying, i just wanted to hug him too. Christina did a terrific job for her dad.
God bless

I burst into tears at that point! 😭 What a wonderful closure.
Watch the one with Ginnifer Goodwin. That one was really good too!!
Massive kudos to her Dad for breaking that cycle.
Not easy to do an almost rare. Amazing story
What a beautiful gift to her father.
I just love this woman. She is fundamentally a good egg.
His daughter is testimony to how good a father he is!
Gosh Christina's grandma died young. Poor thing. 33 in 1955. Wow. I hope she is looking down on Christina now during her own health struggles.

Wow! What she told him that was the good in this. What a beautiful daughter.
There's so much more to this episode, the cemetery scene is so touching and has a special twist at the end. Complete closure!
Hear, hear!
OMG do tell!

Wow, less than 6 minutes and I'm crying. Christina Applegate is a rock star, imho...
What a terrific daughter she is, that Christina Applegate.

@@Divineeyereadings Especially in the 1940s. I'm not convinced that the father wasn't abusive though. Sounds like a mess all around
@@McPierogiPazzawho cares about you being convinced ?
Her father is so handsome and a beautiful spirit, his life was hard like so many at that time...and we all love Christina...God bless them both...
This is an amazing and beautiful story, doughter helping her father in an emotional quest to find the truth. Well done ... you guys should be proud of one another, I sure you are, god bless.

Thank you Christina. I know why I love my mother and father.
You are an incredible daughter. You brought your father Peace. Godspeed

I saw this episode. One of my faves.
I'm a genealogist and watch closely.
I'm so glad she has answers and I love the love she has for her dad.
Beautiful dad and daughter!! ❤️💪🏻
Drank herself to death at 33? Yeah I’d say the husband was being honest to the judge about her drinking.
Yeah that's I thought too but you know they both have been telling the truth, they may both have been alcoholics but at least Dad didn't continue the pattern...
BUT WHY DID SHE DRINK SO MUCH?
i think her WDYTYA was the best one because it was such a close relative. Sometimes these shows go way way back to great great great great-aunt and it doesn't feel very special this one felt different. more emotion more connection.
It’s so sad he can’t remember his mother even though he was 13 when she passed away 💔
sounds like it was good that he repressed the memory
He stayed with granny
How incredibly beautiful. Wow, Christina Applegate, so well done, so so so so so well done. What a heart.
This was heartbreaking - I love you Christina Applegate x
Let's give a quick shout out to Christina Applegate
this show with her genealogy breaks me down to tears
Glad her father could find find some solace.

You are a loving daughter! Breaking the past chain to show kids a new future is so healthy.
That there is a very self aware, well raised lady 👌🏻.
The human side of Christina, not just the Hollywood version. Thanks! 🕊
Christina in her best role! What a daughter!

Wrong "breaks".
This is unreal to see Trenton, NJ, I know of those streets. Seeing the city as she travels is fun.
She said the perfect things to her father he needed rhat pick me up! ♡
Tearing up! 😢🙏 prayers for the Applegate family!

I've never seen her with tears in her eyes, before. I know her as 'Kelly Bundy'
I know you wrote 4 years ago. Have you seen this Netfix show called Dead To Me. You'll see a lot of good crying in that.
So what I gather is that his dad wanted to take care of him, the mother said she didnt drink and he was the drunk. Left the baby at her parents to go on to die from her alcoholism. Absolutely despicable.

Thanks for sharing this, this is one of the most powerful ones out there.
I just want to give a quick shout out to Christina Applegate
Awh, Mr. Applegate and Christina.
So, looks like her grandfather was right. Her grandmother was definitely the alcoholic.
They could have both been.
Christina Applegate is so beautiful
Let’s give a quick shoutout to Christina Applegate
Christina. My pink sister survivor. YOU ARE AMAZING.
Made me cry.....:'(
In the end just being good humans is sometimes all we can pass on to our children, and if that is all we can do, we have done everything.
i want to see the whole thing
It was all about economics with our grandparents...the depression...the war...it affected many many families...
The way he looked like a broken man when she said the good part was he broke the cycle. 😢
Detective Kelly Bundy, you7re the best!
It's hard to interpret life circumstances thru the lens of time. Lots of love ...room for forgiveness in this story. Even for the Grandma who told a horrible lie to a child ...probably to protect him.

Christina, your family has lots of strength and resilience.
Its so bad that he doesn't remember. Some things are better not known. That you broke the cycle is the best thing. Hope you go in peace.
Shout-out to christina applegate
Love this show♥ sweet man!!
Great job Christina
I know your father, Christina, from back when I was in high school. Would love to reconnect.
I wasn’t expecting that.
“Kinda shocked me up.”
I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭😭😭😭
was told all my life that I look like her (a bit) we are the same age so I grew up with seeing her on TV and movies.
This was heartbreaking to see. What is wise with domestic abuse is that nothing has changed. I lost my kids 14 years ago and my ex was the abuser. I never heard from them again.
Bless they're heart's ❤❤❤
I love you christina
Glad for his closure.
