I've had a terrible morning, to be honest, and while driving a while ago, I was looking at a pretty cloud and started missing my Dad who passed away under some terrible circumstances in September of 2017. I said outloud, "Daddy, you always asked me if I needed a hug and right now I need a hug". When I got home and sat down at my computer, this video was in the suggestions. Not only that, when I went to click the Like button, it changed from 170 to 171. 171 is the number that always shows up when I'm missing my Dad. It was the house number on the street where I lived and where my parents lived until they passed. Thank you for this. The experience has turned my bad day around and renewed my peace. I feel like I've heard from my father today and I feel like I got the hug I needed.

Sorry that your family does not understand. I heard someone speaking about bereaved parents on Brene Brown's podcast, and he said that when they lose a child, often couples end up divorcing not because of the death, but because of how they judge each other's grieving. A perfect example of that is when one parent cries more than the other, they think the one who cries less loved their child less, and they lose respect for them. Judgement about grieving is unhelpful. I hope your family can learn to see your perspective on death.
Sadly, society at large, and often our closest ones, expect us to "perform" in certain ways in order to demonstrate that we can be counted on and trusted. It's part fear, part control, part projection. It's also very unfortunate.
Our life is a wave in the ocean. We exist for the moment of the wave and then we crash back into the sea. We return to where we came from, to where we belong.
In Western society we're taught to fear death, but in agreeing that the inevitable is evil and bad, we push away one of our best friends and teachers. In refusing to accept death as part of the natural cycle, we remove ourselves from nature and our true power, since accepting death is key to accepting life. I'm grateful for your persistence, discipline, and courage in posting these important lessons, George! Thank you, Master Gu, for being open to broadcasting your voice and teachings.
My grandfather also recently passed away, a few weeks after the pandemic started, due to the virus. I've felt many of the same things... and this mindset helped immensely. It's easy to forget how much they always lived within us, even when they were alive: their personality, ideas, essence. I never felt he had really gone, and the more I sat with it, the more it felt like he had just changed form. Thanks for sharing George; it's nice to be reminded of our shared experience as humans.
My condolences to you. I lost both my parents last year within 4 months of each other. I grieve their passing but I know their energy is still around inhabiting something else and that comforts me, We are truly one. We just take different forms.
Sorry for your loss...I always say there is so much energy around us and we never know in the next life, who we will be...maybe a three, firefly or ....
🙏. Sending love to anyone having an especially difficult time right now. Remember that you are not alone! Reach out cto friends, family or even a therapist if necessary. You got this!
I feel your loss brother, much love. I also resonate with what you said, it’s all true. Our loved ones are out there around us. Consciousness never dies.
My condolences, George. I recently lost my grandmother back in December after having taking care of her during her final two years of life (separate from her taking care of me throughout my childhood) and the past six months have been very difficult without her presence, but I do appreciate this, as this just resonates with me so much more than the countless number of people who have told me she's in heaven somewhere looking down at me. Thanks for your content. It has exposed me to so many ideas and philosophies that have helped through one of the toughest times in my life.
Understanding that all life force is qi and that it doesn't disappear but simply mutates and disperses upon our deaths also helps one understand that all life and after life is interrelated, that we are all one, that there is no division between ourselves and our loved ones, the animal and plant world, the clouds, the moon and stars. I find this realization to be incredibly comforting. Mitakuye Oyasin, Sioux prayer meaning, "To all my relations..." Peace be unto you my friend . . .
My aunt passed away years back but when I connect she is in everything for me, the sun the moon and the earth. When the consciousness leaves the body, no barriers remain (distance) and you would have definitely felt your Grandfather with you. There is a closeness you can feel with everything in this world as it contains the intelligence/essence of your Grandfather. You can see your Grandfather or even yourself in every person and nature and this way you see the interdependence of all matter. That way nothing ceases, nothing goes away and they have just released from the form into a subtler vibration. Only the vessel that carried them goes back into the earth. The essence disperses. Sending you light and love This is a beautiful selfless gift for others to learn from. May you be happy, healthy, present and peaceful
My grandmother passed away about 2 weeks ago. Same as you I was in Thailand unable to get to her and could only say goodbye to her through a phone. About the same time I got a big yin yang tattooed on my back to represent the good and bad within myself and the positive and negative around me. I'm glad I found this channel as I have always been interested in Daoism but found it hard to learn about. Very cool
My condolences, George! Hope your grandpa is still around feeling him not as an attachment, or memory, but as the fragment of love who left behind in peoples hearts who touched. Hugs
My condolences George - I lost my grandfather at the end of last year, it was a strange time and reconciling my rational thoughts and my spiritual mind was difficult in light our our differing beliefs. He is with me always, in heart and soul :) But I am happy you have such a wise and loving community around you! It is often said the universal energy, or consciousness, is what we have to tap in to, that we can know and experience life fully. I am sure your grandfather is with you now, a part of that, helping you on your path. All the best - our thoughts are with you :)
Thank you Mastar Gu and George, lost a sibling just before lockdown. While rembering him and how he liked butterflies, a big butterfly came and sat on the table inbetween us for a moment. was so comforting. Beautiful video, feel you George.
I've been a Taoist for 5 years and I continue to gain strength and serenity from it as everything my senses tell me is an example of the Tao. I too have wondered about the soul dispersal theory. That's not too bad of a possibility, but I'd prefer to explore the universe as a ghost.
George, I've been following your journey for a couple years now and deal with similar issues (in my case both anxiety and depression) and you and Master Gu have been so helpful in my journey. I'm sorry to hear of your loss, and though I can't know what you are going through exactly, having lost my father to lung cancer a couple years ago, it is fresh in my mind how hard it can be losing someone close to you, and I can only imagine how much more difficult it would have been to not be able to say goodbye. We are so very lucky to live in the future where we have things like video calls and whatnot. I'm sure it would mean a lot to your grandmother for you to call her, regardless of what you talk about. Apologies if the above sounds presumptuous or overreaching, just wanted to offer something a little more than a simple "my condolences" to someone who's had such a profound effect on my life.
My condolences to you George. I've really appreciated both master Gu's and your view on Taoism concerning mortality and this subject really hit home for me because I lost my mother at the age of 87 in 2018. In my grief I have found respite in the fact that she really did have a wonderful life and that is all that matters. When I quiet myself I can sense her energy and somehow it will always be with me. I wish you positive blessings through the roller coaster ride that is grief. Your practice will definitely help you through. Love to you, master gu, and your grandfather
Beautiful video, George, Eli, Master Gu. I lost my step dad to cancer three weeks ago. Lock downs prevent a send-off. WW2 vet and a wonderful man. Big hugs George.
Sorry for your loss George. Thank you for the video, it helped me, i lost my Mother a few weeks ago. Mommy was just 62. But I like this video. Very beautiful video. Thank Master Gu too from me please. 🙏
This was a very beautiful video. It’s so comforting that despite death, they’re not really gone. They’ve just returned to the universe to help the growth of other things!
This is a beautiful message. I lost my sister and my father and there are times when I feel close to them still, so it rings true for me. My condolences to you and your family.
Thank you George for this and so many other videos. My condolences to you on the loss of your grandfather. I was close to mine too and still miss him to this day. As someone approaching 55 I am really encouraged that there are thoughtful and wise sources of light emerging in younger generations. Please continue to be yourself.
Giving new meaning to the phrase "I feel you"..... Nice! My heart goes out to you and your family George! What has happened to all those people dying alone because of the lockdown is the greatest tragedy of all.... I can't imagine how hard this is on everyone, and I hope we soon figure out a better way.... I think you've found a beautiful way to cope, and i'm very much in agreement about this perspective! Thanks for sharing!
But in reality .. really do you REALLY FEEL THEM. .or it's just in your mind and convincing yourself?? To be honest it's depressing.. because they turned into air or soil or earth .. that's the same as DISPPEARED FOREVER.. That 100 times depressing.. not to meet their consciousness FOREVER.. because they turnned into earth or something else..
@valcrist7428 it's all about perspective. You choose which one you want to have. Some people think you can know the consciousness of the universe because YOU ARE THAT. Or you can have a materialist perspective where you never know anyone's consciousness at all. Most people are probably in the middle somewhere. In which case we know each other in partiality through compassion and empathy. You choose!
The death of loved ones is never easy, but may be more bearable by keeping them in your heart and your mind. Think of them often and share the love you shared with them. My best wishes to you, George. A bereavement when so far from home can't be easy, but you're in the company of people who will help you bear it and understand it more fully. Namaste.
You beautiful man, George. My grandfather recently passed away from cancer too. Sending love. This was deeply comforting and with that it has further deepened my love of the Tao.
Those that crossover do return to their (our) natural state of being which is pure light energy. Master Gu gives a beautiful explanation and Eli gives one as well. Your love that you feel for your grand dad George brings him and others around you. Master Gu is right WE NEVER DIE. GREAT video George.
I lost my mom two years ago. At first I really struggled with this aspect of what happened to her, I couldn't believe that she had just ceased to exist, and I also couldn't believe that she stayed the same but just in spirit. I came to the same thoughts that were presented by you and Master Gu in this video, that she had transformed and became the energy that flows through the world. How comforting it was to feel as if she wasn't gone, but just different and closer to me that I had previously thought. Thank you for putting together this video and eloquently exploring what may happen after death. I also give you my condolences for the loss of your Grandpa. Peace and Love.
How is that comforting... when they are no longer consciously tangible and just been dispersed.. it's the same like they are REALLY GONE. They turned into something they are NOT. How do you find that comforting? Not ever to see them again. Let's get real here.
@@valcrist7428 Their physical form is GONE. The body decays and changes form. This is undeniable no matter what you want to believe. I choose to find comfort in that change. However you make peace with grief is up to you. Its not for you to tell others how they should feel or they way they find comfort is wrong.
@@sandeelim5112No, it's up to me to tell that their belief is SICK!. Turning loved ones into dust, rocksw, orms., air. That's SICK! Whoever finds peace with that are PSYCHOPATHS!
Ey bro love this channel and the work you are doing! I'm a nursing college student in utah and my want for information led me to Taoism. This new philosophy (new to me) has empowered me so much. I've been wanting to hear the prespective of other westerners and its been really hard to find tbh but I found this channel and I'm grateful for it and I'm grateful for you G keep up the good work
My condolences, George. What born in this Earth, comes back to Earth. I’m sure that your grandpa soul/spirit/energy can sense your love to him and would be happy with the journey you are on. Hope your family will stay strong in this difficult time.
Thank you for that beautiful tribute to your Granddad and to love. I feel you. My dad died last year, I feel closer to him now, because when I reach out to him with my heart, he can meet me half way.
Condolences to you and your family... It's always extraordinary for me to see how the genuine ancient paths around the world are essentially saying the same thing... All Is One
dear George all from my side my deepest condolences and thx so much for this info, it really helped me to better overcome my sorrows and grieves, because of the loss of my wonderful dad, who passed away on june 4th 2020. It really was, what I needed. THX
I feel my heart melting into softness as I watch this video. Such tenderness and expansiveness and grace are radiating from your film. Behind the softness of my heart, I am find a deep stillness. Such a sacred tribute, George... A pure blessing for us all...✨❤️✨
I was also far away when my dear grandpa died and it was very hard for me to accept that at the time particularly that I couldn’t be there holding his hand to comfort on his last breath. I have since learned to accept that he lives in me as he holds a special place in my heart and I feel his presence around me all the time.
very touchy video, most of all i felt relieved not by the good words and thoughts than by the enchanting scenery..these chinese mountains, these birds and this chinese yesterday full moon whispered me the answer.. my condolences George
Sending my condolences to you and your family. My Grandfather was as close to me as my Father. My Grandfather outlived my Father. I miss both of them terribly. Thank you for making this video. It has changed my perspective. Peace and love!
I'm sorry for your loss, I hope you find your own way to manage the situation and deal with this hard time you're living. Take your time, breath in and breath out. Time will take everything away and only the good memories of your grandfather will remain. Good luck and thanks a lot for sharing your journey with us, it's a pleasure seeing your videos.
This inspired me. I miss my aunt who died from cancer several years ago. I feel her closer tonight thanks to your words. Keep doing what you are doing, it is important ❤️.
Hi George. So Sorry to hear about your Grandpa. But take comfort in knowing that he is always with you. When my daughter was born I held her up to the Moon & Stars. When my Mum passed away, I looked up to the Moon & Stars and felt her there, and when I pass away. I hope that my daughter will always know that I am with her. All she has to do is to look up to the Moon & Stars. Remember the Dao is the Universe, never-ending. He is always with you!
My condolences George, it is always a spiritual challenge when someone we love is not around in the same physical way we were used to. But still, it's an opportunity to find out, not only in a "conceptual way" but specially in a metaphysical sense, that the most important elements of that presence are still around and even magnified. The illusion of "division" crumbles and opens the way for the true nature of the universe: eternal connection and unity among all beings. Congratulations for this great video to you and your master!
George I'm sorry for your loss. Your grandpa is not only around you, but in you, and forever in your heart :). I love the believe of the Tao way of seeing death. Thanks for all that you and Master Gu are doing. :)
There are things we cannot prove about the nature of life and death, but these Taoist concepts do give a lot of comfort. Nice work communicating this very personal and touching message. Moving abroad from the UK myself, I practised Chi Gong and read the Laozi and Zhuangzi for the first few years I was in Taiwan. Not so much now, but I do still find this philosophy and lifestyle has real wisdom in it. Best wishes in your journey George.
my condolences for your loss I'm pleased daosim holds this view, as im feeling highly drawn to daosim n this was a view i already held around death and our connection to all. Thankyou for this graceful video, brought a tear to my eye at the end -hugs-
I'm so sorry for your loss! I just wanted to say thank you for this video from the bottom of my heart. I unexpectedly lost my mother to lung cancer six months ago. That's actually what brought me to your channel, because I felt lost after she died and was researching philosophy and spirituality to help me cope with the loss. Your channel has really helped a lot, and this video in particular is something I really needed. So... thank you. :)
I am tempted to say sorry for your loss, as we do in the west - but as you say, we are embracing the thinking of Dao and I think you communicated your feelings and understanding beautifully.
Sorry to hear about your recent loss. Thank you for an excellent video and good to see Eli and Master Gu . When ever a loved one springs to mind I think of the phrase 'To live in one's heart is not to die '. I agree it is a good feeling to remember a loved one with nature. Especially at the moment in the UK with the dawn chorus and starry nights in an abundance due to people staying at home.
Those we have loved and lost are never truly lost to us, cultivate them in your mind and you will feel them in your heart. The whole universe is inside us, that includes our ancestors and loved ones who have passed. Namaste x
Honestly, even if this all talk about the spirit is not real, thinking this way has so many positive effects on life. I now believe in all of this, the soul, reincarnation even, and this idea made a lot more fearless and made me appreciate and respect ALL life even more. It's such a massive privilege to be here, in this moment, in this body, and get to know other peoples (souls) and this planet, and other life as well (dogs are just so great :p). I am glad your grandfather had the opportunity of being here and getting to know you and all his loved ones, I am glad you had the opportunity to meet him and have experiences together (I never got to know my grandparents). As one of my favorite lines in a Tool song say: "recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing"
So sorry about your grandfather. Grandparents are very special people in our lives. I miss mine every day and they have all been gone for a long time. But I have great memories of our time together. Just wanted to say, I love all your videos. Taoism is the only philosophy that makes sense to me and I am fortunate enough to live in nature where I can connect with the Tao every time I walk out the door.
My condolences George 🙏 As a Mystic and Rosicrucian, we see the same, because it is the same, but we call it the "Vital Life Source", or as you said correctly spirit, from the mind of God. Thank you for your beautiful videos, Peace Profound 🙏
My condolences, George. However, very nice video once again. I'm loving the taoism videos, you (and master Gu of course) are some of the best sources of it for me. I wish Taoism is more popular, so it's easier to spread the wisdom.
Sorry to hear of your loss George, and that you could not be with your family. What better thing to do at this poignant moment than to consider the miracle of life, the mystery of its passing, and infinite star-lit cosmos of which we are all a part. The tone of your voice speaks as many volumes as the wisdom of the sages, and brings a tear to my eyes ...
Hi, George. Not a Tai Chi person myself but I've been a Wing Chun student for awhile. I love hearing your perspective and what you've been learning-it's so similar to what I've come across as well! (Your videos are likely more clear than if I tried to articulate things myself.) Thanks for helping me see different approaches. :) Best wishes for your family during this time.

@@George-Thompson Interesting...he talks about Qi, but was he simplifying the concepts of Hun and Po?
So true
When I wish to know
What death is about
I simply observe
I breathe in and out
I wake and I sleep
I live and I die
There's nothing to keep
We're clouds passing by
And here we all are
Breathing together
And we are all Love
And Love lasts forever
I want to hold on
To faces I've known
I value the gift
Of what they have shown
I think of them now
I feel them so strong
They breathed themselves out
They're not really gone
When I wish to know
How life can begin
I simply observe
I breathe out and in
I sleep and I wake
I die and I live
There's nothing to take
And plenty to give
✨🙏✨

In my grief I have found respite in the fact that she really did have a wonderful life and that is all that matters. When I quiet myself I can sense her energy and somehow it will always be with me. I wish you positive blessings through the roller coaster ride that is grief. Your practice will definitely help you through. Love to you, master gu, and your grandfather
The loss of someone dear to us is never easy and we are never prepared for something like this. I am sorry for your loss, George.
Beautiful video, George, Eli, Master Gu. I lost my step dad to cancer three weeks ago. Lock downs prevent a send-off. WW2 vet and a wonderful man. Big hugs George.
Sorry to hear about your lose Kris xx
You have my condolences George. You are an awesome human being.
MASTER GU, YOU SURE SPEAK MY LANGUAGE AND YOU DEFINITELY ECHO; MY PARADIGM LOVE YOU . LOVE YOU !!!!
Sorry for your loss . Your post is timely for a lot of us .
@valcrist7428 it's all about perspective.
Namaste.
Sincere condolences and thanks for allowing us all to learn from this. 🌹
Oh, George... 😭 I feel your pain. This is such a beautiful message. Sending a hug your way too. Go gently ❤️
Wow, condolences. That final speech at the end, i can feel your pain through the video.
You beautiful man, George. My grandfather recently passed away from cancer too. Sending love. This was deeply comforting and with that it has further deepened my love of the Tao.
What a lovely video in honour of your Grandad. Sorry for your loss George
So sorry for your loss George. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to your grandfather and to all our loved ones who have passed.
I'm so sorry for your loss. This video is comforting and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Sorry for your loss, he will always be with you.
Condolences to you and your family...
It's always extraordinary for me to see how the genuine ancient paths around the world are essentially saying the same thing...
All Is One
Beautiful 🌹
Thank you for letting us be a part of this moment with you
I agree, what I know for sure is that love ones never leave us they are always with us, its all about the energy of love.
Master gu brings out so much wisdom and inner peace

dear George
all from my side my deepest condolences and thx so much for this info, it really helped me to better overcome my sorrows and grieves, because of the loss of my wonderful dad, who passed away on june 4th 2020. It really was, what I needed. THX
I am sorry for your lose. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Prayers to your grandmother.
So sorry about your grandad George, sending love & a big hug, thanks for the heartfelt vid x
My condolences. Thank you for making this beautiful video during such a trying time.
very touchy video, most of all i felt relieved not by the good words and thoughts than by the enchanting scenery..these chinese mountains, these birds and this chinese yesterday full moon whispered me the answer.. my condolences George
Sending my condolences to you and your family. My Grandfather was as close to me as my Father. My Grandfather outlived my Father. I miss both of them terribly. Thank you for making this video. It has changed my perspective. Peace and love!
The most beautiful video I have seen about death and the afterlife.
My heart broke for you. My condolences. this is a wonderful tribute.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I needed this today-for a number of reasons. I'm glad I found your channel. Thank you very much, take care!
i've lost my dad last week, your video came to the right moment. thank you so much
Sorry to hear about your loss during this challenging time. Master Gu described the afterlife according to Taoism beautifully🙏. All the best to you.
My deepest condolences for your loss. I listen to your talks every day amd they help me navigate my life - thank you for all you do❤
This inspired me.
Deepest sympathies, George...
Beautiful video... Defo one of your best.
All the best from Japan.
We are all one.
Condolences, George. Sending peace + harmony your way.. Much love and appreciation for you and your channel.
Sorry to hear of your loss. What a beautiful and profound video. Thank you for sharing this at a difficult time.
Im so sorry about your grandfather i hope your doing well with kung fu and always remember us on youtube love you
There are things we cannot prove about the nature of life and death, but these Taoist concepts do give a lot of comfort. Nice work communicating this very personal and touching message. Moving abroad from the UK myself, I practised Chi Gong and read the Laozi and Zhuangzi for the first few years I was in Taiwan. Not so much now, but I do still find this philosophy and lifestyle has real wisdom in it. Best wishes in your journey George.
my condolences for your loss
I'm pleased daosim holds this view, as im feeling highly drawn to daosim n this was a view i already held around death and our connection to all.
Thankyou for this graceful video, brought a tear to my eye at the end -hugs-
What a lovely tribute to your grandfather! Thank you for sharing. Your videos have brought me much peace during these unsettling times.
I send warm thoughts of love and caring for your loss. I send gratitude for you and Master Gu.
My condolences George. It was a beautiful way to honor your grandfather. 😃
My condolences George 🙏
As a Mystic and Rosicrucian, we see the same, because it is the same, but we call it the "Vital Life Source", or as you said correctly spirit, from the mind of God.
Sorry for your loss. Thanks for making the video.
This was beautiful George. We are all together.
