Crocheting more than 50 yrs with basic knitting knowledge i finally found your channel simplifying the work especially with no circular needles. I finally did my first knitted mittens. Thank you so much. God bless you.
On the printed pattern, after Row 20, you forgot to put the purl row in. Because row 21 starts with K, and it's confusing. It believe the first turning row should be Row 22.
Thank you very much, very clear instructions. If anyone is wondering what age it fits (not sure if I missed it in video), They were too small for my 4 year old, and about right for my 2.5 year old
I'm three quarters the way through, and I struggled with the thumb. I'm bit of a beginner but grateful for the line by line tutorial. I'm not sure how it's gonna turn out atm.
This is something I think I could actually do. Yay. I want to make them for an adult though and using bulky yarn. What size needles should I use? Do you have a pattern like this but for an adult?
Hello! Thank you for this teaching. I am unable to access the link for some reason. Is there any chance you could put written instructions underneath video? Thank you!
Hello! Thank you for your message. I just accessed the link, and it’s working properly. Take a look: sowoolly.net/how-to-knit-mittens-with-thumbs-for-children-step-by-step/ Happy knitting 🧶
I am so determined to knit these mittens. I hit a road block when I have to add a stitch to the base of the thumb. It looks like you add another “stitch” to finish the new added stitch. I can’t seem to copy what ever it is you do. Please describe in more detail. Thanks!
Hello Diane, you have to pick up and knit 2 stitches: 1 stitch on each side of the base of the thumb (I didn’t add a new stitch to the already added, I was correcting the stitch because I split the yarn). I hope I’ve explained myself properly 😉
@@sowoolly when I just add the first stitch I end up with a, noticeable to me, hole in the mitten. When I watch the video it looks like you pass the needle through yarn after you add the first stitch. I am having trouble copying what you do.
@@sowoolly So sorry I add the first stitch but the new yarn is loose and tail can get smaller when I pull. Am I missing a step in adding this first stitch?
I love your channel. Your instructions are excellent. However, do you have a slower video on how to do the SSK? I am VERY new to your channel and amazed at how well done your instructions are. So many YT knitting creators don't realize that many of the viewers they have are people who are new to a craft like knitting and need very detailed (slow) instructions. Lastly, your voice is very soothing and easy to understand. Thank you!
I'm a bit confused with the start... If you cast on 30 stitches and begin with a purl stitch, your last stitch will be a knit stitch but your video says it is purl... I'm new to mittens so any help greatly appreciated! TIA 😊
In the written instructions she corrects this mistake:" IMPORTANT: I made a mistake when recording the video…I think I cast on 31 stitches, instead of 30, and that’s why I ended up with 2 different rows. "
Hi, this is awesome and I finished the project promptly last year. Kids grow now he wants new mitts. How could I measure (4yo) to increase properly 🤔 do I first of all increase the nr of cast ons is there a rule about it? Like I have to do it in even numbers or something? And then the Inc, Dec, same thing?
Yes I agree easy to follow I just wish you had gave instructions for the second mitten instead of saying the other one is almost the same. What is almost the same
The left mitten came out excellent :) but is anyone having trouble with the right mitten? Ive followed the written pattern to a t & it is not coming out right, my thumb is showing pearls on the outside. Im going to back track & watch the video but just change the knit 13 to knit 16 when doing the m1r & m1l
Sorry my comment was a little confusing. I figured out what happened, i had messed up on the thumb and did purls when i was supposed to knit. But i also had noticed in the video you do 13 rows for the cuff, & in the written pattern it is 11 rows.
I'm not a beginner but not as that great a knitter. When I was shaping the top of the mitt I had one extra stitch?? Where did I go wrong? I just knitted 2 tog to solve the problem.
Hi there is a small error in the pattern... From the website link it says... Thumb 21º Row: k22, turn. 22º Row: P9, turn. But Odd rows should be purl to the end. 22 Row: K22, turn 23 Row: P9, turn Almost made a mistake but I catched it from checking the video...
I love that you go row by row. My first ever mittens completely easily.

Thanks. Every step given and loved it when a bit seems unclear I could revert to the TH-cam video. Great project for learners

I think I can do this. This was the easiest tutorial I’ve found thank you
Very easy mittens, easy to follow instructions and very enjoyable to watch - thank you

Great, first time for knitting mittens and so easy to follow.Thank you for taking us through it row by row.

Good luck! Knitting requires a lot of practice and patience... The more you knit, the better you get at it ;)
Excellent tutorial love how you increase and your voice is calming thank you!
I find it so hard to make it through a whole video as your voice is so calm and soothing it makes me want to go to sleep 🥰 could listen to it all day
Going to make a pair (or two) of these for my grandson 💙 thank you for the video ♥️
Thank you, a very easy pattern to follow
Thank you 😊
Brilliant..... first time I've followed a you tube video, mittens are great.....thank you, such an easy way to follow the pattern 😁
I’m happy to hear it! Thank you for sharing 🤗
Best and easiest mitten pattern I've ever seen. The instructions are wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you for your lovely comment, and happy knitting :)
Very enjoyable tutorial, thank you.
I think R21 should be a Purl row but no big deal.
Thank you 😊!
How do I figure out how to do this pattern but for adults? This is the first mitten tutorial I could actually follow!
I used bigger needles and the results were great
The video i have been looking for
Just finished these ….i luv them.
I’m happy to hear it! Enjoy 🫶🏼
An excellent tutorial. Very well ✔

Hi, I’m afraid this one is for newborns only 😉 Will think about another one for adults
I tried a last night to make one with bigger needles and bulky yarn. It looks great other than the fact that it would fit a giant😂
Blair Fjeld Sounds like something I would do.
🤣😂🤣
7:19 for when to start knitting thumb having done the increase stitch section
Excellent video.Would you consider doing a video on the world's simplest mittens by tin can knits offered free for all age groups ?

Those holes are perfectly normal. Repair them when you sew the mitten (please go to minute 17 : 42)

I calculated this pattern for this size only, I don’t have it in more sizes
Me: How does she do that

È possibile avere sottotitoli in italiano?
Sorry, non parlo italiano 😉
Fantastic

Sorry, I gave up on this. I've been knittin' for 60 years. Just aggravating to do the thumb, count, turn, etc. etc. Thanks for the pattern. I tried.
When I first started, I used stitch markers to help me know when to turn my work
Pls tell me right hand
Please take a look of the written instructions below the video. You’ll find the link on the description box
For right hand, before starting the thumb, is it knit25 or knit22(as left hand) and purl 9?
قفازات جميلة جدا لكن لم افهم اللغة للاسف ياريت تترجموها
Why can't i understand a lil bit of this ??
Left mitten:
Thumb
21º Row: k22, turn
Right mitten:
Thumb
21º Row: k25, turn
Shouldn’t both mittens knit the same number of stitches?
