    Seeing Yamboleast again, made me think about that brilliant series. What a journey you have had since then to where you are now. Do you ever wonder, how your life would have been had you not of been hounded out of Scotland and stayed at Amboleast?

      It was one hell of a time that's for sure! Sometimes I do but to be honest I wouldn't change a thing. It's times like those that drive you in certain directions through life and ultimately our experiences have landed us here. Also amboleast was bloody awesome 😅👌

    I remember you showing us that room for the first time, amazing how much of a transformation you have made in a year.

    Amazing transformation!! Very inspiring to see. It took me many years before I got to building a workshop when we first moved to our farm and I regret not making one earlier. And it’s still a complete chaotic mess. 😂 It’s definitely one of the top priorities when building up a home especially one that’s a bit run down. Great work.

      Thank you 😊 a clean workshop is a clean mind. I would have really struggled to do this whole project if I hadn't made that first. Not only a place to build things and keep tools organised but somewhere quiet to reflect and plan the next move. An essential for any creative person I believe

    • @vilhelmgrasbonde

      @@ash.pollard well said. i spent a year building a wooden boat and my mentor back then wouldn't let me leave the workshop until i had organized my tools and cleaned my workbench. the idea is that you should be met with a clean place to work first thing in the morning. i think it's time for me to seriousley clean my own workshop soon. 🙂

    For power seeing as there's no sun in winter, what about wind a small wind turbine?

    • @ash.pollard
      @ash.pollard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We had the same idea however weirdly in the deep winter when we would need it most there is pretty much zero wind! It's a strange place 😅

  • @c0mputer
    @c0mputer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very cool. My only issue is that you people in the UK call a vehicle lift a “ramp”, haha. Other than that great video and nice bikes!
    Also not sure if this barn was built this way but in cold climates a lot of the farm houses are built to keep the animals (cows, pigs, etc.) in the lowest floor of the house. That way their body heat heats the entire house over the winter. Pretty cool I thought.

    • @ash.pollard
      @ash.pollard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahah It will always be a ramp to me 😅 That's interesting! Although, this barn has never had living accommodation upstairs before. It was originally a hay loft upstairs and then a stable in the concrete section where the workshop now is.

    Nice space. I admire your vision and hard work. Two questions: Why did you move to Sweden and from where did you move?

    • @ash.pollard
      @ash.pollard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 👍 There's so many reasons I could give really but to narrow it down to one I would say to give my mind the freedom it needed. We both grew up in Leicester, England

    I don't see much in the realm of equipment which demands much in the realm of electrical power need. Do you have plans for the implementation of various equipment, in your future which would need quite a bit of power? If so, what do you have up your sleeve in order to meet the demand? I've brainstormed many nights thinking of various manners and means whereby I could make my shop stand on it's own. Thinking about means other than a bank of batteries and the various ways to charge....I'm talking about some out of the box implementation which would and could support a small shop of various equipment. I have some ideas up my sleeve....I'd be interested in hearing what you might do.

  • @MikeMcRoberts
    @MikeMcRoberts 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Surely it will still charge even in winter?!

    • @LostInEurope
      @LostInEurope 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We get no direct sunlight at all on our land for around 3 months during winter 😊

      The heater burns diesel. Power is solar 70% of the year...

      @@ash.pollard Dude, I'm your patron... And you located in Sweden...70% diesel unfortunately...

    • @ash.pollard
      @ash.pollard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought you meant the power is from diesel. fingers crossed once the second wood burner is in I'll be able to bring that number right down 🤞

      @@luckyhomestead no need to burst in and toot your whistle so loudly with arrogance. If you dont' like his comment and descript, quit supporting him and move on...that simple. Others see your arrogant comment as a huge distraction and minus to what is going on here.
