    Thank you for this recipe! I am 63 and started a whole foods plant based/vegan diet a couple of years ago. I have not been sick since. The best part is that a chronic pain issue I had has greatly reduced. I will definitely be trying this! Josh is so cute!

    Also, I made myself your tofu scramble for brekkie this morning and it's SO much more tasty than what I've had before in veggie cafes!

    I have to say, of all the easy oil-free hummus recipes I have seen online, this is the best!! Tastes great with garbanzo and navy beans.

  • @smallfootprint2961
    @smallfootprint2961 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I haven't made hummus a lot and when I have, I used only garbanzo beans, garlic, lemon juice and whole toasted sesame seeds. I have not kept tahini on hand because I don't use it often but, have a lot of whole sesame seeds. I figure if I just add them to the blended up beans etc, they will incorporate. I add them when only part of the beans are blended. Blend slowly. It's the taste that counts but sometimes they don't break down completely. I am trying to stay salt and oil free, so slow blending will tend to make them creamy and, not make dust out of them, as someone said. I just moved and have stuff all over the place but, tomorrow, I am committing to pressure cook some garbanzos and make some healthy hummus. Thanks, Anja for all your hard work and for sharing your experience with us. Lynn

    I'm going to make this today! I'm going to roast a red pepper and add the purée on top! You are so awesome! I'm 52 and am just now starting my vegan journey. I live in an area where carnivores prevail and my family and friends think I'm crazy. But I feel so strongly that I should change to veganism..for the poor animals and also my health. I can't believe how much my digestion has improved 100%, and my body pains are already subsiding. You are a lovely person and I wish I could meet you. I think we would hit it off. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of yours. Thank you for sharing with everyone.

    Thank you so very very much for all your recipes. I have just subscribed and have been overdosing on watching your videos the last couple of days. I can not tell you how thankful I am for all these amazing recipes. I have MS and have recently discovered that a very low fat Vegan approach to eating has had amazing success in helping people with MS. But I had no idea what that actually meant or how to cook and eat. But you came to my rescue. Thank you again. I am looking forward to cooking and eating my way through all your recipes. Thank you, thank you.

    I use your recipe all the time and I love it!!! but let me just share with you that for those who are very sensitive to gas from beans if you rinse them 3 or 4 times and then soak them in cool water while you're getting everything else ready, there will be no issues with gas/flatulence.

    Thank you! I now have a use for all the white beans that had been gifted to me. I usually cook my beans and measure about 1 1/2 cups tp equal about one can after cooking. Then bag them and zip closed squeezing the air out, then put into freezer until ready to use. Currently having problems finding dry chickpeas for us with other recipes, but can find canned (tinned) just about everywhere. I will be cooking up some white beans soon and use one of the cans of chickpeas I have and six this up. It sounds delicious! Besides, I love hummus. Can't get enough of it. :)

    Favorited this recipe last year, but did not make it until today. I assembled all the ingredients and realized I did not have lemon. I decided to use 1/2 red pepper and lemon extract and hoped for the best. OMG, it was so good!!!. Next time will definitely add the lemon juice and experiment with different add ins like sriracha sauce or maybe sun-dried tomato. Makes a great dip for baked french fries, my new favorite food to dip in hummus ;-) Thanks for the recipe!!!

    This was great. I tried another no oil hummus recipe a few weeks ago and it was too thick and garlicky. I think the white beans make the difference to give it a thinner consistency without overpowering the other ingredients. Thank you for the recipe.
    By the way, I'm really enjoying your videos and recipes. I'm also into whole grains and no added salt, so I adapt them a little and so far, they all taste great.

    If you're on a no-oil/no-added fat diet, instead of tahini (sesame seeds) which are high in fat/oil, use no added salt prepared mustard to substitute for the tahini in your no-oil recipe. Sesame seed paste is high in fat by itself as are most seeds. They naturally contain sesame seed oil in the seeds, which are crushed into a paste to become tahini.

    • @gardenjoy5223

      They are full of fat, but fat from seeds and nuts do amazing good things to your body. I eat about a handful of nuts a day, while eating much fruits and vegetables and keep losing a kilo per week. The body needs some fat every day and the fat from whole or grounded seeds and nuts is a very smart choice.

    • @fir8550
      @fir8550 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The natural oil from the sesame seeds is not the problem. But rather the bottled oil. It is that presents health hazard.

    Good idea mix with beans, I will try it.
    Me too, I don't put oil in my hummus.
    But differently I sprout de chick peas before use it, a sprouted grain have more nutrients and a canned one even been organic has less nutritional values.

    Anja, you're the best! I love your recipes bec they're simple and clean! Your heart is shown in every video. ❤️ do you have a video on how to make that pure tahini? Do i slightly roast the seeds first? Thank you in advance! Love love love!💋
