how did you update the table so that it added the page numbers you add yourself? Because my chapter starts on 'page 3', though its technically page 7 because i have copyright page etc. before it
I'm sorry this has taken so long to reply to. I basically made the videos for a friend who has been traditionally published for years but wants to do some self published stuff on her own. I didn't expect anyone else to see them, so I haven't really paid a lot of attention to them, but let's go over it. I'm going to probably redo these videos to make them more accessible, breaking them up into smaller segments. At any rate, to answer your question, you want to go into the FILE menu at the top, and then down to DOCUMENT SETUP. Once there, locate SECTIONS on the left hand side and click on it. You'll see a row of different attributes labeled; Name, Shown, Reversed, From, To, Style, Start, Field Width, Fill Character. The only one you care about is the START column. This is where you'll put the actual starting page of your book, after all the front matter. In my case, it's page 9 so I enter 9. You would enter 3 since that's where your chapters begin. Hit okay, and you're table of contents will now show the third page in as page 1. Hope this helps, and again, sorry. I wasn't really expecting anyone other than my friend to see these videos, but now that there appears to be a demand for them, I'll try to make some more, and better breakdowns.
Hi! Great information! I was trying to save a reference to your video "How to Format Your Book With Scribus |Typesetting A Novel | Format Your Paperback for FREE" since I don't have the time this moment to watch it, but TH-cam has turned off saving and comments and says the content is for kids. That is a rather odd take on your content. I hate to comment here, but could not find any direct path to message you. This is just a note in case you wish to alter the settings on that video. If the settings are OK by you then please ignore my comment here.
