    This was the clearest and easiest to follow instructions for creating a Table of Contents for Libre Writer I have found and...it worked, once I knew the important steps to check.

    Nicely done. I'm editing a manual on supervision and feared the ToC day I knew was coming.. I appreciate your slow, deliberate cursor moves and stops, allowing the initiate to follow along. I've noted, over the decades, that one of the faults of experts is that they have lost sight of the basics and how truly unknowing a novice can be. But not here. Thanks.

    I only use Office because I have to for work, but I actually prefer LibreOffice and Writer especially. It's terrific. I also find it a lot more stable and punchier than Word. I also love that Libre's default setting uses dropdown menus, which I've always preferred to Word's horrible tabs, which I still haven't gotten used to. Yes, Libre gives you the option of using tabs, but I'll pass on that. Good lesson.

    Hi Melissa - great video - well done! The problem Im having is that the Table of Contents font is different to that of the document. How do I correct the Table of Contents to use the same Font as used for each of Heading 1; Heading 2 etc.?

    Hi this is a great video and you explain things so well. I have subscribed and liked…If you can answer a few questions that would be great. I am writing a book and need more than ten contents..also is it possible to insert a page into a document without pushing down the images or content below it. I do the insert page break but it affects all other things below…not sure how to keep this from happening. Thank you

      Hello! I don't know anyone personally. However, you can check Fiverr. It is a hub for independent contractors. I have used them before for some of my own tasks so it would be a great place to start. Here is a link: melcompton.com/recommends/fiverr/

      Good morning! Thank you for the question. I created a video explaining why the background is gray and how to make it a different color or remove it all together. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/S55Utg3kvk8/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you for your video on how to create a table for content in LibreOffice. My problem is that I am following your instructions on how to do this. However, the LibreOffice Writer is not picking up the (Introduction and Chapters) after I formatted them in the document as Headings 1. Do you have suggestions on what I should do?

    • @MelCompton
      @MelCompton  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Did you select each heading and change it to heading 1, 2 or 3?

    • @fkustaa
      @fkustaa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MelCompton Thank you for your quick response and suggestion. I don't know what your suggestion mean. Does this mean that I have to format each chapter three times as Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3 before each chapter can be picked up and appear in the table of contents?

    • @MelCompton
      @MelCompton  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fkustaa hello! Is each heading formatted as a header?

      @@MelCompton Again, Thank you Ms. Compton. Your suggestion worked and I am now done with the Table of Contents.

    • @fkustaa
      @fkustaa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MelCompton Yes, I went back and checked. I saw that I formatted each title as Heading 1, but when I checked I saw that Heading 1 was not in the list of Headings. So in order to get the tiles picked as items in the Table of Contents, I formatted the titles as Headings 2, and it worked. Thank you for your input through your question.

    Dear Ms. Melissa Compton, do you have a video on how to format the name of the author and book title in the Header in LibreOffice?

    • @MelCompton
      @MelCompton  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is not a default Author and Book Title Header.

      Hi! Go to the entries tab when you are setting up or editing the table of contents>T>Fill Character NONE
