The most beautiful pianist and most talented
Alexander Malofeev is better than a genius, he IS the MUSIC!
He seems to gather the entire melody in his mind, heart, and soul, and then plays it with so much love and thoughtfulness, so the music either bubbles forth like a gentle fountain, or it explodes from the very depths of his soul. He presents the music like it's a most precious gift.
To be so great - so young - is absolutely extraordinary. He is a gift to the whole world.
Dear Maestro Malofeev, I believe tomorrow (October 21, 2021) is your 20th birthday. I wish you every happiness and want to thank you for the many beautiful performances you have shared with us on TH-cam.
He plays like no one is in the audience ! I admire him and want to be like that 👍🏼😃

every time I find new performance of Mr. Malofeev I haven't heard before, it's a new shock. Again I wonder how can he surprise me again. Again do this thing I could only do at 15, falling in love with a piece of music on first note - like I never heard it before, wanting too... too.... dunno. worship the artist? cry to the heavens? never wake up from the dream? he is really something. I just hope he is not "burning himself" at such young age, and that the complete seriousness he employs in his artistry doesn't come at too high a personal cost. Young Alexander - this is a call for you - if you stopped playing now and rested for the remaining of you life - you've already done enough good in this world. Take it easy, do it only as it makes you healthier and take good care of yourself. I (and many others) love you dearly.

Two thousand years ago there was one Alexander the Great whom we learnt about in history books. Now in the music world there is a new Alexander the Great.
One of the great pianists of his or any generation. We are so privileged to hear him.

He not only plays the music, he becomes the music. Surely the composer himself would adore Alexander's performance. So into the music that he carries us along with him into the musical adventure. I just love this pianist!! No one does it like Alexander Malofeev.

there are so many young pianist nowaday, so great, so talented, but Alex fascinate me with his passion. He is one of a kind.
Alexander, I love that you are playing some Medtner! His music is incredibly beautiful and complex and should definitely be considered on the same level as Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninov, etc... But very few people outside of the piano world know much of him. You are such an amazing performer as well!
For someone so young to able to play so much piano music that is so difficult and to have won several competitions, Alexander is very special. He has incredible interpretation, touch and dexterity of this piece and many other pieces from Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Liszt. I truly hope Alexander always continues to prosper as he becomes one of the greatest pianists of his contemporaries. I will be following this career carefully.

I definitely encourage you to listen to more Medtner! His music confused me a bit at first listening, but after a few attempts I became hooked and can truly say that this composer's music has changed my life!

Alexander completely inhabits this piece - he lives it. And the way he ends - he could have remained motionless for another few minutes but the applause broke into his reverie.

Этому не научишь. Много разных интерпретаций этой сонаты слушал, но у Александра - наиболее личная и даже интимная - и от того более рельефная, фактурная и многоголосная. Соната звучит по-новому. Превосходно в музыкальную ткань вплетены эмоции и веришь, что это именно про воспоминания и как будто бы вспоминаешь сам то, чему не был никогда свидетелем. Еще отмечу характерный приём для Александра - это не отпускать последний звук произведения на растерзание зрительским аплодисментам. Так держать публику мало кому удается. А ведь тишина до и после - так важна.
Silence before and after -- I do not think is always a technique. Silence before is commonly done before any classical musical performance begins, whether it is a solo performance or one accompanied by a full orchestra. Silence after, as in this solo performance, is I think Alexander savoring the beauty of the entire piece of music just played and the last note of it, as he says goodbye as it echos and quietly disappears over the horizon of his soul and vanishes, much like the sun, in all its beauty, disappearing slowly over the horizon at sunset.

I smile when I think how hard I struggle to learn a simple country tune - picking away at one bar at a time - and then not really being able to play it without mistakes, with the sheet music in front of me. Somehow Alexander has managed to establish a DIRECT connection between his BRAIN and his FINGERS, like a professional typist, only on a much higher level. As I type, I really have no conscious awareness of what letter is under which finger. I just think the word formation and my fingers do it. I can do it in my sleep. Whatever the phenomenon, Alexander ROCKS!

No. What you wrote is bullshit. “Mystical communion”. Quite simply it is what musicians do when they want to show off and emphasize like there is something about them more than just the skill of their play of the instrument and ability to hear the music. “Mystical communion” sounds so cheesy and pretentious. I know it may be angering to you that I am dissing this phrase but through my perspective saying something like that cheapens the skill of musicians who work very hard since childhood. They may be just as good but for one reason or another, often not due to fault of their own, they do not gain popularity.

But I completely disagree with your assessment of Alexander. It's sad to realize you cannot grasp the difference. Millions take piano lessons from early childhood and even if they "work very hard" for the rest of their lives, practising 8 hours a day, they'd NEVER be able to play what you just heard. HOW Alexander does what he does is truly a MYSTERY. Too bad you can't accept that without trying to apply some limp rationalization. That's what the "religious" among us do - they can't accept that this life is a complete MYSTERY and let it go at that. Nope... they've gotta create a huge fiction to explain it, believe it, and spend their lives trying to get others to believe their bullshit beliefs.

His musicality is superb! He's one of my favorite pianists who's in the early prime of life. I love Alexander's gifts of artistry, storytelling, bravura, commitment, and memory. He has so much he can share with the world. His capacity is transcendently rarefied.
If Alexander wants to maintain his capacity to play at a high level for several years, then having a superb physical therapist or personal trainer working with him is crucial to countering his all-too-frequent crouching. I worry Alexander's career will be cut short by problems in his shoulders, cervical and thoracic spine, and arms and hands. I hope he'll fix this problem during COVID-19 down-time as though his career depends on it.

Alexander is always mesmeric - but in this performance so well filmed I realised that Alexander almost has a separated conversation with the keyboard. As if his fingers and head are separate beings and he’s conversing with his hands, quite literally you see him do this. His head bears witness to his hands and he is completely sympatico like this. As almost two separate people. Amazing
